Chapter 59 The Banquet Began

A few days later, the Wolf Clan shindig went down as planned.

Seraphina's POV:

Wesley sent over a bunch of dresses, all from that fancy store, except for one from another brand.

I didn't wanna be too extra, so I picked a white strapless gown, threw my hair up, and stuck a diamond pin in it.

Saki rocked her dream pink princess dress, complete with a tiny crown, looking like a living doll.

Lucas was all dapper in a white suit with a red bow tie.

"Mom, Wesley's so cool. He sent us all these dresses!" Saki squealed.

I glanced at the leftover dresses, feeling kinda weird.

It's just a party. Why'd he send so many? I can only wear one, duh.

After the party, I'll send the rest back. No way I'm owing him more.

"Look at you, all money-grubbing," Lucas said, arms crossed, looking like a mini adult. "You're sold out for a few dresses. How shameful!"

"If it's shameful, then why are you wearing Wesley's clothes?" Saki shot back.

"I..." Lucas couldn't think of a comeback and just pouted.

"Alright, alright," I said, ruffling their hair. "Parties are supposed to be fun. Don't kill the vibe."

"Mom," Lucas looked up at me with puppy eyes, "I don't like Wesley. I don't want him to be my dad."

"What dad? Where'd you get that idea?" I laughed.

"But I like him. He's tall and handsome, like a TV prince!" Saki said, swaying dreamily.

"Stop with the girly fantasies," Lucas said, pinching her cheeks.

Saki stuck her tongue out at him.

"Okay, enough," I said, half-laughing. "Whether you like him or not, keep it cool when you see Wesley later. After tonight, we won't see him again, so chill with the drama."

The kids exchanged a look, not totally buying it.

Meanwhile, Wesley was already downstairs, waiting.

With a kid in each hand, I headed down.

"My princess and prince, your chariot awaits," he said, opening the car door.

Saki loved it, practically bouncing with excitement.

We all piled into his car and headed to the party.

Wesley was a pro at charming kids, chatting them up while driving, making the ride super chill. I felt way more relaxed.

When we got there, he handed the kids masks that matched their outfits. As I grabbed my white mask and was about to get out, he stopped me.

"You're missing something," he said, pulling out a shawl. It was light and sheer, with fancy pleats, adding a touch of elegance.

He draped the shawl over my bare arms, let my hair down, and swapped the diamond pin for a long, chain-like headpiece that wrapped around my hair, with tassels that sparkled faintly.

After sprucing me up, he looked at me like I was some rare gem.

Feeling my face heat up, I awkwardly said, "No wonder you're a top fashion designer. Even someone as plain as me looks kinda pretty after your magic touch."

"You are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen," Wesley said, totally mesmerized.

His dreamy look made me super embarrassed.

Noticing my discomfort, he gently extended his hand, "It's time to go in. Your beauty will be the highlight of the night."

I smiled, took his arm with one hand, held Saki's hand with the other, and Saki held Lucas's hand as we walked into the banquet hall together.

Silas's POV:

Wearing a black mask, I scanned the crowd at the entrance.

Some people recognized me and tried to chat, but I brushed them off coldly.

There was a special area for kids. I asked Alex if he wanted to make friends, and he was all for it. So, I set him up in the small banquet hall.

"Silas," Cecilia walked over in a red mermaid dress.

"Why didn't you wait for me?" she smiled, trying to link her arm with mine, but I dodged her.

I only agreed to bring her, not babysit her all night.

Cecilia's smile faltered when I dodged her, but she quickly recovered.

The werewolves all recognized me. Even though they were busy with their own stuff, their eyes were on me.

Cecilia noticed this too and stood proudly by my side.

Her acting like she was the hostess annoyed me.

"Silas," Cecilia looked at me expectantly. "Will you dance with me later?"

"Find someone else. I already have a partner," I said, not even looking at her.

"What?" Cecilia got all worked up. Even with the mask on, I could imagine her face twisting with jealousy.

"Who is it? You already agreed with me," Cecilia said, puzzled and angry.

"That doesn't mean I'll dance with you," I glanced at her indifferently. "As for who it is, that's none of your business. Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask!"

Cecilia was left speechless. Even though she was pissed, she didn't dare to act out and just stood there, feeling wronged.

The banquet was about to start, and she still hadn't shown up. Maybe she didn't want to come at all. I suddenly felt bored and was about to head back to my private room when the crowd's exclamations caught my attention.
