Chapter 21 The Curse of the Blood Moon

Silas's Perspective:

I never thought I'd get burned by the same woman twice. This bold and crafty woman makes me want to strangle her right now.

But what I didn't expect was for the curse of the Blood Moon to hit me at this moment, and right in front of a woman who's always plotting against me! It was the price I pay for being the supreme Alpha King. I couldn't let anyone know because it would become the deadliest weapon against me.

So when that woman came up to me, I yelled at her to get lost, hoping to scare her away. But she didn't leave.

"You look like you're in pain. Where does it hurt? Is it where I hit you?" Seraphina's voice was filled with obvious panic and fear.

I knew she was scared that she might have killed me and would get dragged into trouble.

If I weren't in so much pain, I would have laughed out loud.

She thought she was so powerful that she could hurt me with one punch. She was overestimating herself.

"It's none of your business. Get lost!" I snarled through the pain, trying to chase her away.

"You're so ungrateful!" Seraphina snapped, annoyed. "If it's not my business and you don't need my help, then suffer on your own!" With that, Seraphina turned to leave.

However, she came back when she reached the door.

"Why are you back?" I glared at her, irritated. "Can't you understand? I told you to get lost!"

I was drenched in cold sweat from the pain, and since she was a doctor, she might figure something out if she got too close.

"You think I want to come back and get yelled at?" Seraphina glared back, angry. "If it weren't for my professional ethics as a doctor, I wouldn't care about you at all!"

"Let me see what's going on." She reached out to touch me.

"Get lost!" I roared, pushing her away and baring my fangs at her.

Seraphina was clearly startled. She stood frozen for a long time before making up her mind to stride toward me.

"I can't just leave without making sure you're okay. As a doctor, I can't ignore a patient in pain!" Seraphina said, coming over to support me and laying me down on her lap.

I was shocked that she didn't leave despite my threats. Maybe it was the pain, or perhaps I was stunned by her boldness, but I didn't resist as she pushed me down.

My eyes were red, and I was about to snap at her when she suddenly started massaging my head. Her firm yet gentle touch actually eased my pain a bit.

I was utterly shocked. For years, I had searched for ways to alleviate the curse of the Blood Moon, but nothing worked. Every time it struck, I had to endure it with sheer willpower. I never expected that a simple massage from this woman could ease my pain.

Though I was shocked, I didn't let my guard down. I still didn't know why she was getting close to me and who knew if she had any ill intentions?

"Relax, and it'll work better," Seraphina said, sensing my wariness. Her tone carried a hint of helplessness. "I won't do anything to you. Once you're better, I'll leave. I don't want anything to do with someone like you."

I didn't respond, slowly closing my eyes.

As she continued to massage, the pain gradually subsided. It didn't disappear completely, but it became bearable. She had a pleasant, faint scent that was soothing, even calming my irritation from the pain.

"Even though my massage can ease your pain," Seraphina said softly, "you looked like you were in a lot of pain earlier. It's best to go to the hospital for a thorough check-up to find out the cause. If you let it go, it could become life-threatening."

Hearing her suggest a hospital visit made me instantly wary. I didn't believe she cared about me. She probably wanted to find out the cause of my condition for her own purposes! With that thought, I coldly pushed her hand away and sat up.

Seraphina looked at me, puzzled.

"Don't think that just because you helped me, you can make decisions about my life. Remember, I didn't ask for your help! You did it willingly!" I shouted at her.

Seraphina laughed in anger, getting up from the floor and putting her hands on her hips, glaring at me.

I hated looking up at people, so I was about to stand when she boldly pushed me back onto the couch.

"You!" I was furious.

"You are so ungrateful," Seraphina's beautiful face flushed slightly with anger, like a budding red rose, tempting to be plucked and kept.

I didn't want to be swayed by her looks, so I turned my head away coldly.

She said, "Not that I expected any conscience from someone who falsely accuses others. But let me give you a piece of advice: don't go too far. At least be a good role model for your son!"

"How dare you judge me and my son?" Hearing her mention, Alex made my recently calmed anger flare up again. "Get out!"

"Don't worry, even if you didn't tell me to leave, I would. Staying with someone like you only makes me feel ill!" With that, Seraphina glared at me and walked out.

I didn't stop her. After all, I had told her to leave twice before, and she didn't. Now that she had helped me, how could she leave without expecting something in return?

The loud slam of the door made me look up, and I stared at the empty space in front of me, stunned.

After helping me, without asking for anything in return, she just left. I let out a cold laugh.

It was just a ploy to make me lower my guard. She thought I was some naive young wolf who would fall for her tricks.

I stopped thinking about her and lay back on the couch, planning to regain my strength before looking for Alex.

About twenty minutes later, a rapid knocking on the door woke me up. I thought it was Cecilia again and was about to yell at her to leave when the door opened.

"Shit!" I sat up, both shocked and angry, wanting to see who dared to come in without my permission.

But when I saw a group of doctors entering, I was stunned.

"Are you Silas? A woman named Stella called us, saying you needed help. How are you feeling now?" the lead doctor asked softly.

I couldn't believe that after how I treated her, she still called an ambulance for me after leaving. For a moment, I didn't know what to feel—guilty for being so harsh, or angry at her for meddling.

Just then, I received a text message.

Ray: [I've taken Alex. Don't do this kind of thing in front of the kid again. As a father, don't you have any sense of responsibility?]

That woman didn't take Alex. Could it be that I had wronged her?

Looking at the doctors and nurses in front of me, thinking about everything that had happened, I suddenly felt that there might be some misunderstandings between us.

After sending everyone away, I texted Harris, asking him to find out which hospital Stella worked at, how many kids she had, and their ages.

Stella. I kept repeating her name in my mind.

I needed to find out what connection, if any, existed between Alex and her children.
