Chapter 34 Misunderstanding Deepened

Silas's POV:

It was almost quitting time, and I was stuck in that product launch meeting in the conference room. I had been hoping to wrap up early and chill with Alex, but then my phone buzzed. It was Butler Smith.

Getting a call at that hour? My heart did somersaults, and I felt a wave of dread.

I cut the meeting short and picked up the call.

"Mr. Everhart, please forgive me. I lost Alex!" Butler's voice was shaking like a leaf.

"What?" I jumped out of my chair, rage boiling up inside me.

He lost my kid? I wanted to reach through the phone and throttle him.

"Alex was whining about wanting to go out and play tonight. I had no choice but to take him out. But then he started griping about the heat and asked for some ice cream," Butler stammered.

"So you just left him there alone?" I was fuming.

If this idiot were in front of me, I'd rip his head off!

Leaving Alex alone? This guy had a death wish.

"I wanted to take Alex with me, but he refused!" Butler's voice was trembling, probably sensing my murderous intent.

"He didn't want to, so you just left him?" I roared, "Listen, you moron, if anything happened to Alex, your whole family was gonna pay!"

I slammed the phone down and rushed to where Alex went missing.

I scoured the plaza with some of my guys, but there was no sign of Alex. Maybe he got tired of waiting for Butler and went to get ice cream himself.

Clinging to a shred of hope, I led the crew to check out the nearby ice cream shops.

No Alex, but guess who I ran into?

Stella.

Seraphina's POV:

Hearing someone call my assumed name, I spun around, confused.

Silas Everhart?

What was this guy doing here?

Whatever, finding Lucas was priority number one. As the Alpha King, he was more useful than the cops, even though I didn't wanna get tangled up with him.

But maybe he could help me find Lucas.

Thinking this, I stepped forward, about to ask for help, but he grabbed my neck and lifted me off the ground.

I couldn't breathe, my toes scraping the floor.

Crazy wolf! Was this his idea of a hello?

Silas's POV:

"Spill it! Why were you here?" I demanded.

My eyes were blazing with rage, and I had this chick's neck in a death grip, ready to snap it with just a bit more pressure.

Why the hell did she always show up whenever something went down with Alex?

When Alex vanished at the airport, the cameras caught her taking him, but then, boom, Alex was back home safe and sound.

After that, Alex, who barely spoke a word, was all about her being his psychologist. And now, just as Alex went missing again, here she was, right nearby.

I couldn't help but be suspicious.

What was her real game? What did she want with Alex?

Stella's face turned red as she desperately slapped at my wrist.

Seeing she was about to pass out, I eased up a bit but didn't let go.

She'd always acted like she cared about kids, which fooled me into thinking she was a good person and that everything before was just a misunderstanding.

But now, she couldn't pull the wool over my eyes anymore. This damn woman! If she tried any tricks again, I'd snap her neck without a second thought.

"I was here to find my child!" Stella gasped, trying to explain.

"Your kid was missing too? Or was your kid named Alex?" I naturally didn't buy it. Too much of a coincidence.

My son went missing, and suddenly her kid was missing too? Yeah, right. This had to be part of her elaborate scheme!

"Your kid was missing too?" Stella looked genuinely surprised.

I couldn't stand her playing dumb, thinking she could fool me! "Cut the crap!"

I tightened my grip on her neck again, watching her face turn even redder, her expression pained, veins popping at her temples. My urge to strangle this sneaky woman grew stronger.

Even though she was special and I had a strong interest in her, none of that mattered compared to my son!

She could use her tricks, and I might find her different from other women, even be interested in her.

But she shouldn't have messed with Alex. He was my most precious treasure in this world.

Anyone who tried to harm him had to go!

With that thought, I didn't want to give this woman any more chances. I just wanted to strangle her and eliminate any future threat.

I began to tighten my fingers, even hearing the sound of her fragile neck bones, but I wouldn't stop.

I coldly watched this woman about to lose consciousness, my hatred for her only growing.
