Chapter 18 The Hotel's Strange Guest

Silas's Perspective:

Ever since Alex straight-up told me he didn't want Cecilia as his stepmom, I decided it was time to break things off with her. Even though we never really got close, she was still technically my fiancée.

The Shining Moon clan, despite being in the modern world, still clings to some old-school pack behaviors from our tribal days. We live by the law of the jungle—survival of the fittest—which naturally creates a hierarchy. Even now, there are a bunch of powerful noble families within the wolf clan.

My dad became the Alpha King by taking down many strong werewolves. Now, as the new Alpha, everyone's watching who I marry.

How can I dodge the nobles' scrutiny and find a kind, reliable stepmom for Alex? I thought long and hard about it.

"Boss, the appointment Alex set up for you is coming up. Should we head to the hotel now?" Harris asked quietly, taking a stack of freshly processed documents from my hands.

I tapped my fingers lightly. Since Alex recommended this doctor, I should go check it out.

"Let's go." Harris handed me my suit jacket. I took it, stood up, and left the office.

Alex's Perspective:

Lucas started his mission. To keep an eye on Saki, I couldn't go to the hotel with him, so I had to listen to his live updates over the phone from home.

I told Saki, who was sprawled on the couch watching cartoons, "Hey Saki, you can have an extra box of ice cream today. Can I borrow your smartwatch?"

"Sure! I want strawberry ice cream. You can borrow my watch!" Saki made a cute little salute, excitedly waved her tiny hands, tossed me the watch, and then dashed off to get her ice cream and continue watching TV.

Her adorable antics made me chuckle. I grabbed the watch from the couch and hurried out of the room.

After connecting the call, Lucas started filling me in on what was happening on his end. I listened closely until he suddenly asked, "You don't seem to talk much, do you?"

"I..." I stammered, worried he might not like my quiet nature.

"It's okay," Lucas reassured me.

I thought Lucas might treat me like an outcast or be annoyed by my difficulty in speaking, but to my surprise, he laughed.

"Take your time. No matter how slow you speak, we'll be patient and listen to you, so don't be nervous."

His words touched me deeply. No one had ever said anything like that to me before, especially not someone who wasn't family by blood.

"Why?" I asked, still a bit unsure.

"Because we'll be family," Lucas said, sensing my unease. "Mom says family should care for and help each other!"

His words warmed me to the point of tears. So this is what family love feels like!

I silently vowed to myself: I must bring Seraphina and Dad together so we can live as a family forever. Then I can always feel this kind of love.

As Lucas stepped out of the elevator, he saw his mom heading to the prepared room and opening the door.

"Mom's in!" Lucas excitedly shouted over the phone.

His high spirits left me a bit at a loss, so I forced a smile, trying to show I was happy, too, even though he couldn't see me. He was even more lively than Saki!

Lucas said, "I think we should lock the door now, so they can't run out when they see each other!"

I thought that was a bad idea and advised, "I don't think so. We're already lying. If Dad finds out we locked the door, he'll be really mad."

"Why are you so timid?" Lucas sighed. "If it comes to it, I'll switch places with you again. If your dad gets mad, I'll act cute."

'Act cute?' I wrinkled my nose, suddenly feeling that Lucas was amazing. I admired him because he could even act cute with my dad. Unlike me, who couldn't act cute and didn't dare to with Dad.

Thinking this, I lowered my head in disappointment.

Lucas was about to say something when we both heard a thud from the other end of the phone.

We both jumped, eyes wide in shock.

Seraphina's Perspective:

Holding the room card, I arrived at the designated suite, feeling increasingly puzzled.

Who schedules a doctor's appointment at a hotel? Isn't that odd?

But thinking about how Alex confidently said his friend was sick and acting differently, and seeing the room number, I naturally assumed it was a wealthy family's child.

They may want a private consultation to avoid any negative impact if rumors spread.

After all, rich people often have quirks that we ordinary folks don't.

I remembered encountering many guests with various strange rules during my internship.

So, I stopped overthinking and raised my hand to knock. However, I found the door was already unlocked and clearly waiting for me, which dispelled my doubts completely.

Even though the door was unlocked, I still knocked lightly three times.

"Hello, I'm the doctor here to see your child. I'm coming in now." With that, I pushed the door open and walked in.

Only one light was on in the room. The luxurious living room was empty. I cautiously walked further in and finally saw a tall figure on the balcony.

At the same time, a slightly familiar, magnetic voice asked, "Who's there?"

My babies' alpha daddy
