Chapter 48 Taught Them a Lesson

Silas's Perspective:

My words hit like a nuke, leaving the werewolves around me totally gobsmacked.

Stella's eyes went wide, like a deer caught in headlights, just staring at me.

I couldn't help but chuckle at how cute she looked.

I knew she didn't want to admit she was my fiancée in front of everyone. I mean, our engagement was just a deal, and going public wouldn't do her any favors.

But that deal? Yeah, it meant squat to me. No way was I letting such a fascinating woman be my fiancée in name only. Her allure had a grip on me, making it impossible to suppress my desire.

So, Stella, if you wanna be my girl, you gotta be ready to face the storm.

"Silas, she's your fiancée?" April's eyes were red, and she pointed at Stella, looking all heartbroken. "Why would you pick someone like her?

"Everyone says we're the perfect match. But why do you keep switching up the women around you and never give me a chance?"

April got more worked up, practically losing it, and cried out, "Why? What's wrong with me? Why can't you just look at me? Why don't you choose me? What's so great about her?"

"Eden!" Her screeching was driving me nuts, so I glared at Eden, "Is this how you raise your daughter?

"She's been abroad studying forever, and she's still this clueless?"

"Silas, chill. I'll send her home right now!" Eden turned to April and snapped, "April! You're being super rude and embarrassing us. Get out of here and think about what you've done!"

Even after getting chewed out, April didn't budge, like she needed an answer before she'd leave.

But I wasn't about to waste my time on her. She meant nothing to me.

"April!" Seeing she wouldn't listen, Eden slapped her.

"Dad." April held her cheek, looking at Eden in shock.

"Get out!" Eden pointed at her and yelled.

April's pride was shattered. She covered her face and ran out, crying.

Finally, with her gone, Eden sighed in relief and bowed his head. "Silas, it's my fault for not raising my daughter right. Please don't hold it against us."

"I don't care, you should ask if my fiancée is mad." With that, I walked up to the stage, wrapped my arm around Stella's waist, and asked softly, "Babe, what do you think?"

Seraphina's Perspective:

I was already floored when he announced I was his fiancée. And now he's holding me so tenderly in front of everyone? It was scarier than seeing a demon.

But to keep up the act, I forced myself to look all shy and gave him a playful punch on the chest. "You're so bad."

I put some real muscle into that punch, and I saw Silas flinch, but he kept his cool.

Inside, I was cracking up.

"Spilling the beans about me so soon? That's no fun," I said, reaching behind him to pinch his waist.

"I just didn't want you to get hurt," Silas said through gritted teeth, grabbing my hand to prevent my mischief.

"I don't mind," I said, leaning into him all sweet-like. "But someone like April, who's useless and a fake, staying in the hospital is bad news for the patients. We need to rethink her future here."

"Of course, I trust Eden will make the right call and not let me down, right?" Silas said, giving Eden a look that made him shiver and sweat bullets.

"Silas, don't worry! I'll handle it and keep the hospital's rep clean!" Eden stammered.

"Good!" Silas nodded, satisfied.

I turned my gaze to Barry, who looked like he wanted to disappear. When he felt my eyes on him, he cautiously looked up.

As soon as our eyes met, he quickly looked down and wiped his sweaty forehead.

He was clearly scared I'd come after him. He'd caused me a lot of grief lately, and now it was payback time.

"And Barry here, he messed up big time, accusing me of pretending to be your fiancée and making me do all the dirty work, which has ruined my hands," I said, showing my hands.

"Is that so?" Silas pretended to be concerned and stroked my hands.

It made me feel a bit queasy.

"A leader who blames his mistakes on his subordinates is useless. From now on, you're no longer the deputy director; you're just a janitor," Silas said, not even looking up as he gave the order.

"What?" Barry wanted to beg but was too scared of Silas to risk it, so he just accepted his fate and lowered his head.

"Yes..." he said tearfully.

I looked at Barry with a smug grin, feeling super satisfied.

Serves him right for abusing his power! He totally deserved it!

I turned to look at Silas, who was still staring at my hands, squinting slightly.

Since finding out Cecilia was Silas's ex-fiancée, I knew we'd cross paths sooner or later.

And Silas wasn't a dumb wolf. I couldn't figure out how a werewolf like Cecilia ever got to be his fiancée.

What secrets were hidden back then? What happened after I left? I'd find out everything, piece by piece!
