Damini's POV



I tried to sleep but could not even blink my eyes... All the incidents from our school days kept coming to mind and all those beautiful songs he sang for me kept haunting me for the whole night. My lips were smiling at the sweet memories but my eyes kept crying for those days.

I thought that it was ok if I don't marry him, he would be alive... But I did not know that just a mere thought of him with another girl would disturb me so much... Now I knew, how he must have felt when uncle announced that Samar and I would be married soon.

He used to get annoyed at Samar.... just the way I am feeling right now...

I could not sleep for the whole night, so I thought of going for a walk to refresh my mind.

I was taking a walk when I saw him going out... Where was he going? I followed him. He was jogging so I had to do it as well.

He reached Sukhna Lake. It was a beautiful place and he looked around and then took out his phone and called someone.

Just then I saw Maurvi coming in her tracksuit too. This was too much why does she have to meet him every day?

They sat down on a bench which was laid there. I hid behind a bush and tried to hear what they were talking about but could not hear a word.

They kept talking, she was listening and he was speaking very seriously. I wanted to know what were they talking about... Then she said something and he smiled and nodded.

She had become so important for him that he almost forgot about me... Tears had started pooling in my eyes... I had enough so I came back.

I rushed to my room and closed the door.

I didn't want to see his face again... But my stupid heart wanted to. So I got ready and went to the office. I didn't want to eat so, just picked an apple from the kitchen.

I immersed myself in my work. Samar walked into my cabin and said hello to me. He was about to say something when his dad called up. He was talking to uncle on phone and went out of the office. Just after 5 minutes, Sagar and Sahil also came into the office.

Sagar came to say hello to me. I just gave him a faint smile.

" How are you? " he asked.

" Oh. I am good... You?? "

" I am good too. "

" Yeah... I can see that. " I said with a hint of sarcasm and he just smiled.

" I was thinking... If you could come to have..... "

He was saying when his phone buzzed. He looked at it, smiled and picked up the phone.

" Hi... Maurvi..... Yes, I am in the office... Tell me?? ...... No, I have some work, but I can finish in an hour... Where?? Shopping... Well Ok... I don't mind... Anything for you... Yes... I will be ready. Have lunch with us, you can meet everyone here... Ok done. " he smiled and disconnected the phone.

Oh, Maurvi again... This girl is really after him. Just now he was asking me out and now he is going with her.....

" You were saying something ?? " I asked him as he did not say anything.

" Y.yeah,.. but I need to go with a friend of mine... So.. so will you have dinner with me... ? " He asked hesitantly.

Means he prefers her over me... Fine go with her.

" No... I am busy at that time.. "

" Busy at dinner time?? "

" Yes... Can't I be?? "

" Can I ask you, what are you doing? " he asked.

" Do I ask you, what you do? "

" What is wrong with you?? I just asked you a simple question. "

" And I gave you a very simple answer that I am busy."

" Damini... "

" Go finish your work... Your friend might be coming to pick you up. Anyways I have some work too. " I said and started doing my work.

He went out of my cabin.

After about 2 hours, Samar walked in and said hello to both of them. We all had a meeting with some underwriters and agents.

By the time the meeting was over, it was lunchtime. Samar was about to order when Sagar said that a friend is also coming so Samar ordered food accordingly.

I was not in a mood to share food with her... But wanted to see the girl properly.

The door opened and she walked in. She was very elegant looking. She smiled politely. Sagar saw her and went towards her and smiled.

" Hi.. you are right on time... Let me introduce you to everyone. You already know Sahil... This is Samar, Sahil's best friend." She nodded at him and he smiled too.

" This is... Damini.... my... " He was saying...

" Colleague..... Hi, I am Damini." I completed the sentence for him.

" Hi... I am Maurvi. I am glad to meet you, Damini Ji. "

" Same here.. "

Really ??? My stupid inner self started again.

We all started having lunch. I had lost my appetite already so I was toying with the food.

" Are you not liking the food Damini Ji? " Maurvi asked.

" No, it is just that I am not hungry. " I replied.

" You should have tried the food she made yesterday. It was so awesome, both Sagar and I ate almost double of what we usually eat. Right, Sagar? " Said Sahil.

" Yes... It was very nice. Thanks. "

" If you say thanks again, I will not make it again. " Maurvi said.

" Sagar take your thanks back... He has taken it back, Maurvi. " Sahil said and laughed. Everyone joined him... except me. I was not feeling comfortable.

" Hey... You keep talking about the awesome food she made... You should have saved at least some for me or should have given me a call. I would have come. " Samar said in a funny way. The lunch was over soon.

I felt that Maurvi was looking at me quite frequently as if she was trying to read my mind. But why??

Maurvi and Sagar went away for shopping.

Why did she need him to go shopping with her?? To carry her bags??

Though I liked the girl... But the fact that Sagar was giving her too much attention was making me irritated with her. I can't let her make him fall for her.

I was still thinking about her.. when I heard Samar and Sahil talking about her.

" Sahil... That girl was great... Right?? ' Samar said.

" Amazing... " Sahil nodded.

'' I was just wondering that you didn't flirt with her? "

" I don't want my handsome face to get disoriented... As it is, I can't flirt with her, she is just like a sister to me... Well, she is going to be my sister-in-law very soon. " Sahil said and I was about to have a heart attack.

Did he say that ??? Or was I imagining things???

" What?? Sister-in-law?? " Samar asked.

" Yeah .. so tell me, how can I flirt with her?? "

My heart stopped.

I went near Sahil and pour a jug full of water over his head.

He was so shocked. His mouth opened but nothing came out. Samar was looking at me with his eyes as big as tennis balls.

I was shocked too at my actions. But I didn't care... I was just too furious at that time.

" What is this Damini?? " Sahil asked in an angry tone.

" Just shut up... You liar." I said poking at his shoulder as I was already too furious.

" Liar?? When did I lie to you?? " He asked me.

" Why?? Didn't you say that day that Just know that Sagar loves you Damini..? "

" So?? "

" So?? If he loves me then how is Maurvi going to be your sister-in-law?"

He smiled for a second and then became angry again.

" So ?? You expect him to spend all his life, persuading you to accept his love? Do you expect that he keeps roaming around you while you keep rejecting him?? He has already suffered so much... Do you want him to suffer for the rest of his life begging you to love him back?? You should be happy, that now he will leave you alone and would not bother you again. That's what you wanted. right?? " Sahil asked looking into my eyes.
