Chapter 12 She Knew Principal Williams!

But unexpectedly, his voice pitched suddenly shortly after he answered the call by sliding the screen, 'Is that Principal Williams?"
'Principal Williams?" All were shocked at what he said.
Usually, only Master Henry and Hale would keep in contact with the Principal, but he called Gavin by himself?
Nobody dared to put forward a question, but only listened carefully to what he spoke, full of ears.
Gavin stopped his walking and turned back. In the end, he gazed at Monica deeply.
'Is that so? Thank you so much, Principal Williams."
All started to look at Monica too out of curiosity.
Monica wasn't surprised but took a sip of water calmly.
Gavin hung up quickly. Nancy couldn't help her curiosity and asked first, 'Gavin, how did you have the number of Principal Williams?"
Gavin collected himself and then sat at the table. 'I didn't know Principal Williams. Actually, he called me."
'What did he say?" Master Henry asked slowly in a solemn tone.
Gavin looked at him respectfully, 'he said, tell Monica to register herself at the senior section in Oxford High School tomorrow. Moreover, he asked me to tell Monica that he was very pleased that she could study at Oxford."
Gavin gazed at Monica when he uttered the last sentence, with a bit creepy look in his eyes.
They, the whole family, had made such a big fuss about her entrance into Oxford High School, but none had expected that the Principal himself called personally to say he was glad that Monica could study in their school. How weird could it be?
All were astonished. Gloria asked unbelievably, 'Gavin, could it be that you misunderstood? How could the Principal invite Monica personally to register in their senior section?!"
She slandered and mocked at Monica just now in order to not let her study at Oxford. However, contradictory to expectation, the personal invitation extended by the Principal himself proved how wrong she was!
But Monica was just a country girl. How could she make the Principal invite her voluntarily?
Despite how Gloria thought, Nancy turned to Monica, 'Monica... do you know Principal Williams?"
Although she even couldn't believe it herself, he must know her since he said he was happy that she came.
Monica knew she couldn't hide it any longer, 'Yes, we met once on my own."
Even though they met just once briefly, if it was not because of her help, his car could have exploded with him inside.
'Just once?" They met only once and then the Principal could remember her? And even invited her to Oxford High School? It was completely surreal.
Gavin seemed to have accepted reality but still had some doubt, 'You knew each other, but how come he knew that you were about to study there?"
Monica looked at him out of the corner of her eye, with an assured tone as a matter of course 'my dad and mom told me to study there three days ago, so that I gave him a call."
Her cool disposition mixed with some arrogance may send out some false signal as if the Principal was someone who was taking her instructions.
'He sent me the electronic invitation already, but I told him to call today to keep my family members informed in order not to cause some family members to get over-concerned about my issue." Monica glanced at Gloria and Hilary.
Gloria was embarrassed, but she couldn't utter a word.
Hale felt he lost face too. Monica could register on her own, which made his hesitation just now was a big joke!
Gavin felt complacent to see the embarrassment on the aunties' faces, but he asked pretentiously, 'Oh, Sister, you are so naughty. Why didn't you tell us that you had the Principal's number? You should have told us. Otherwise, it wouldn't have worried aunties and our eldest uncle so much just now."
His words hit their pride directly, which made their faces turn ugly green.
Monica cooperated with him while looking at him, 'I didn't say anything because I didn't think Oxford High School was a big deal, but to my surprise that it was so difficult for the eldest uncle to help me get registered. So, it's better that I do it by myself."
Monica stirred the teaspoon in the cup casually, as if her behavior stirred Hale totally upset.
All the children in the family had to beg him for his networks in order to get registered in Oxford.
But today a girl from nowhere changed the routine by embarrassing him on the spot.
'Hahaha, you are really my granddaughter who could hold her dignity. Look at yourselves! You, as grown-ups, even couldn't do better than a child!" Master Henry laughed loudly and sarcastically.
Nobody dared to say a word.
Master Henry was in an extremely good mood and took the fork and knife to start dinner. 'Okay, since Monica took care of herself regarding her registration at Oxford, we can start lunch now."
Others tried to cover their embarrassment by concentrating on the food on their plates.
It was the first time for Nancy to be so proud in the family. She was extremely joyful.
She passed the plate of veal to Monica, 'my beloved daughter, take some of the veal."
Jeffery and she were given cold shoulders always in the family. Finally, they vented the humiliation they suffered before and gained respect for the first time.
Jeffery straightened up with his head high. Today, their daughter made them proud.
No one dared to say anything out of line to Jeffery or Nancy because of their daughter. Gloria was even subdued.
After lunch, Master Henry went upstairs pleasantly. Hale followed his dad as he felt embarrassed to stay with others.
Two aunties were about to leave too. Jon spoke with Jeffery awkwardly, 'Jeffery, Gloria was too straightforward sometimes. You mustn't mind."
