Chapter 25 Confrontation in Coffee Shop
As soon as she finished her sentence, she turned to Monica, smiling gently, 'Monica, way to go. Don't get satisfied this time. Monthly Test is looming. And it is also very important to attend self-study session in the evening."
Yesterday, she thought Monica must have been average academically, and she didn't attend the evening session too. But she did well in this test, so that Ms. Hanna felt more at ease.
Matt was stunned that Ms. Hanna didn't make a big fuss about evening session, but just mentioned it carelessly.
Benedict was even more speechless. He never thought Monica got A, the only A in the class. He and Calvin were looking at Monica who was sitting at the third row in the back as if they were looking at a monster.
Suzie put the paper on Monica's hand and she noticed that she corrected the wrong answers she made. Suddenly her eyes looking at Monica became complicated.
Those two questions were contest ones, very difficult. It took her quite a while but eventually she was still confused by the riddles and eventually gave the wrong answers. But Monica was so strong academically that she saw the key point to the question and answered delicately correct.
She read through her solving steps to see Monica had a special way to solve it. She must admit that she was far behind her.
Did it mean that this country girl who was average academically as rumors went was actually a genius?
Ms. Hanna also explained how Monica solved the problem, in comparison with the standard way of problem solving, then gave her a great praise for her originality.
Finally, the class was over, she came to Monica, 'Monica, did you find the solution to those two questions by yourself?"
Monica nodded. Hacker's code could be thousands of times more difficult than the test. The test to her was actually nothing. If it wasn't for finishing the homework, she would have wasted any time on it.
That was the reason she did the copy.
'Monica, you are so smart. Can you teach me when you have time?"
Suzie was amazed with admiration. Monica couldn't help agreeing to her with smile, 'Sure."
Suzie left and then she collected the things in the schoolbag randomly. She felt someone was looking at her behind always, but she didn't care and then when she was ready, she left the classroom.
When she was walking farther till no traces to be found, Max looked around, thinking.
Monica stood at the school gate. The driver called to apologize for being late due to traffic jam, to let her wait for a while.
Monica noticed at the corner of her eyes that there was a coffee shop near the gate.
Since it was still early and she had nowhere to go, she was about to go inside.
Upon coming in, she realized the decoration inside was her favorite, Nordic style. The color was understated but with a taste of luxury. Apparently, the owner had an abnormal taste.
Monica went to the bar counter, ordered an iced Americano and then sat at the corner.
The light was comfortable, so that she was reading the book in foreign language on the chair.
Unfortunately, soon after some people came in to sit near her.
The voice sounded familiar and then she looked up.
They were Anne, together with Annette and Ashley.
'Monica? You are here too!" Anne smiled warmly immediately when she saw Monica, 'Do you want to sit together?"
Monica had no interest in Anne, especially she was around with the other two and their admirers, which repelled her even more.
'No, my car is coming soon." If she had any other place to go, she would have left immediately.
'Okay, I will go shopping with Ashley and Annette. Most likely I will be home late." Anne smiled with pride.
It seemed that she was showing off her popularity with the other two sisters.
Monica smiled half-heartedly, 'Do as you like."
She didn't care at all, but her attitude made Anne upset.
She tried so hard in order to be close to these two sisters. How could Monica behave like she didn't care at all about how other family members thought about her?
She bit her lower lip and turned back to her seat, as Monica was concentrating on her book with her head lowered.
Stephanie Pope, Anne's bestie, saw Monica ignored Anne completely, and she asked, puzzled, 'Who is she? Why could she be so arrogant?"
Stephanie seldom checked forum so that she didn't know who Monica was.
When Anne was questioned, she lowered her head deliberately as being ashamed,'She's my sister from countryside. She doesn't know the manners. Don't mind."
But what she said made other girls even more upset. 'Then why was she so arrogant coming from countryside?"
'She is not cultivated."
Stephanie rolled her eyes at Monica, and sneered in contempt, 'A country girl came her for coffee. How could she tell the good from the bad? It is better for her to go farming."
When Monica was mocked, Annette and Ashley were just happy to watch the show.
Stephanie saw others are on her side, so that she got even more bold. She took a deep breath while stirring the coffee in the cup, 'I can tell the coffee bean is from Holland exquisite brand just by a sip, but a country girl doesn't deserve to drink such good coffee, does she?"
