Chapter 40 It Was Hard to Say Who the School Beauty Was!

'Is Monica like the chivalrous woman hidden in the earthly word in Kungfu movies?"
'She was more powerful than those women!"
They were too excited to control their volume, so that some students were looking at them.
Monica frowned slightly, 'It's nothing to boast about to fight, we should be low-profile."
Matt and Suzie realized they were overwhelmingly excited. As Monica said, it wasn't good to fight. It could be troublesome if the teacher knew.
They nodded and mimicked the action of zipping up on their mouths to mean they wouldn't talk about it again.
Monica was gentler to see they acted so reasonably. When she was about to say something, suddenly a big noise came outside of the door. Austin rushed in aggressively.
All the students were quiet out of shock at his fierce look.
When Austin saw Monica, he strode forward with loud voice.
'Boss! I heard Marc Andre from Capital University found some troubles with you yesterday? Why didn't you tell us, so that I could teach him a lesson!"
The students around heard that Austin would teach Marc a lesson for Monica. They all opened their eyes widely, looking at these two unbelievably.
They never expected Austin meant it when he said he would regard Monica as his boss! When someone messed with Monica, he would take revenge for her.
They thought Monica would accept it, as nobody would like to say no to him.
But Monica sneered simply, 'No, I can solve it by myself."
Austin was rejected.
All looked at Monica. She had rejected Austin twice. They had no idea if Austin would act like last time, to turn and leave immediately to take revenge on her lack of appreciation?
Max was looking at them too.
But Austin continued with his anger as if he didn't hear it. 'No, you are my boss. Marc dared to mess with you, which means he didn't respect me at all! I won't allow him to bully my boss. I'm going to teach him a good lesson now!"
The room was stunned to acknowledge again what Monica was in the eyes of Austin.
Monica took his words as his monologue only, and didn't want to say more. At the same time Austin waved to his compliance behind him to shout, 'Should we take revenge for our boss when she was bullied?"
Those behind him replied loudly, 'Yes!" Let go to safeguard our territory for our boss!"
Austin nodded in complacence and walked out with them aggressively.
Others were finally relieved to see them to walk out of the classroom.
Monica was too lazy to pay attention to Austin, but continued to read the unfinished book from yesterday, with her head down.
She didn't noticed Max was looking at her for a long time.
The bell rang for class. Ms. Hanna walked in with her eyes inspecting around the room to spot who was absent. She looked at her watch about 10 minutes before dismiss, and then she knocked slightly at the platform to say.
'There will be a Mathematical Olympiad Contest, which gained a lot of attention in the field. Principal Williams urged to nominate 2 participants from each class. So Max is one, and who wants to volunteer?"
Max leaned against the chair casually. Although he didn't like to study, he was well-known for being a genius in mathematics. He won many awards in the field since he was a child, both nationally and internationally.
Thus, Ms. Hanna mentioned him first, at which no one seemed to be surprised.
The monthly test was looming and suddenly a Mathematical Olympiad Contest was on the way too. Students looked at each other, as they were all concerned that the contest would impact their study for the monthly test.
Comparing to a contest in which they had no chance to win any award, they would rather to focus their attention on the monthly test.
Ms. Hanna frowned to see no one raised up their hands, although she emphasized that it caught huge attention in the field. She never expected that the students were enthusiastic about it at all.
Her eyes started to search through the whole class. Wherever her eyes passed by, they all lowered their hands, except Monica who was still looking directly at her eyes calmly.
Ms. Hanna's eyes were brightened up. She remembered that Monica attended Mathematical Olympiad Contest before which was recorded in her file. She couldn't help asking, 'Monica, did you attend before in your previous school?"
Monica didn't expect that she would call her name suddenly, but she nodded still.
Ms. Hanna saw her nodding and then decided by herself to write down her name in the paper, 'Then you should attend the contest on behalf of our class. Please bear in mind to attend the training every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the lecture theater. A specialist will give you lessons on the subject."
Monica didn't, since it was the same for her to attend the class or not.
Ms. Hanna felt relieved to have her consent tacitly. She was afraid Monica wouldn't agree, but to her surprise she wasn't a hard sell at all.
She had more affection towards Monica.
When Ms. Hanna dismissed the class, Matt came up to Monica with concern, 'Monica, do you really agree to attend the contest like that? I heard the contest is extremely difficult. Didn't you see nobody liked to attend the contest?"
Monica replied without much care, 'It's okay for me to kill time."
Matt remembered she answered all the questions correctly last time, so that he said, slapping his thigh, 'You are right. The normal test was too easy for you. It is more challenging to attend the contest."
Monica didn't say otherwise, but actually she was too lazy to say the contest questions were the same to her.
It was lunch time. Monica collected the books on her desk and was planning to go lunch with Matt.
But when she stood up, someone called her name immediately.
'Monica!"
Monica followed the sound to see Ashley was standing at the door, and she smiled at her sweetly, waving to her to join her.
Monica didn't move. She was not close to Ashley and wondered what she wanted.
Ashley saw Monica ignored herself and others were looking at her, she smiled generously and walked towards Monica.
She stopped near Monica and put on her signature smile, 'Monica, let's have lunch together, shall we?"
When they saw the school beauty came to their classroom, a lot of students turned to her direction.
Ashley was famous for her gentleness and generosity, so she didn't care about others but tried her best to spread her glamor.
Many boys were discussing secretly, 'Look, that is our school beauty. Her skin is so fair and radiating!"
Others shared the same opinion in amazement, at which Ashley was complacent.
Benedict sneered at their words, 'I wonder if you have eyes. No matter what, Monica is far prettier than Ashley. The vote for School Beauty will take place soon. Who knows if Ashley can succeed or not.!"
At his words, Ashley's face changed quickly from blushed to pale, and her smile was even farfetched.
