Chapter 27 Almost Revealed Herself
Ashley was embarrassed, but she could extend her hand to Laurence to introduce herself, 'Hello, President Hall, I am Ashley Moore, Monica's cousin. I've heard so much about you."
Ashley flicked her hair while smiling, making great effort to spread her limited charm. The boys at school could die for this gesture she did, so that she thought Laurence would be the same.
However, Laurence nodded his head casually, 'Hello."
Ashley and Annette felt extremely frustrated with the result. Both faces were down.
Anne came back to her senses to remember immediately to talk down Monica, 'Hope you don't mind. Just now we were discussing about the coffee beans you provide in the shop. Monica made assumption. Please don't mind her for her wrong words."
Anne seemed generous to defend Monica, but how hypocrisy!
Monica felt her behavior was so distasteful, which made her almost puke.
But to their surprise, Laurence said, 'Monica is right. The coffee bean is indeed from my plant in France. Even the baking technique she mentioned is correct."
Suddenly, all were taken aback.
The owner of the coffee bean showed up to justify where the coffee bean came from. Of course, what he said was right.
Surprisingly, what Monica said was right. They looked at Ashley and Annette with disgust. They two had no idea of what they were talking about!
Both sisters felt it was like a slap in the face after Laurence stated the fact. They wished they could run away by digging a hole on the spot.
However, Laurence didn't want to continue with them, 'I won't disturb you further. Ms. Moore, can I have a word?"
An invitation from such a handsome man got others so jealous. All of them looked at Monica with admiration.
Monica was surprised. Last time he was quite cold to her, but why suddenly did he ask her to have a private conversation?
However, she realized it was not simple...
She knew about the coffee bean only because her step-father got it as present from someone. Because she liked it, his step-father gave it to her.
Did it mean Laurence knew her step-father?
Her heart jolted when she thought of it. So, it meant she revealed her identity?!
While she was thinking of it, she came to the VIP room under the envious watch of other girls.
Upon sitting down, Laurence looked at her meaningfully and asked her out of curiosity, 'Strangely, the coffee bean in my plant was never sold on the market. We just sent to some relatives and friends as gift. I wonder how you get know it?"
Last time, he didn't ask about her background, as she was just from countryside. It looked like her background should be as simple as a clean slate.
However, the wine and coffee bean produced in his plant were only presented to some special big shots. How could a girl from countryside get such a detailed information?
She was racking her brains and then asked, 'I wonder if you know Principal Williams?"
Laurence had no idea why she asked, and then nodded after consideration, 'Principal William was my grandpa's friend and we have been known each other for many years."
Monica felt relieved after what he said, and then continued boldly, 'I know Principal William too. And I had the honor to drink this coffee once."
Monica thought it could be the most suitable answer, as it was not the secret that she knew the Principal.
But it even made his eyes sullener, 'Do you know him well?"
If she looked sincere and sounded honest, he would have thought she was boasting.
What a high social status the Principal had?
He was most famous top old gun in Imperial Capital.
Although he retreated to be in the education business, he was extremely well-connected. His status and background left others far behind. He was the most prestigious in the business world.
Those who had some connections with him were all the big shots in the city.
His grandpa and the Principal went through difficulties together. He even introduced the old Mr. Moore to the Principal.
But this country girl boasted about how well she knew the Principal.
'You can say that. Recently, he helped to solve the conflicts with the Watermans and also my registration in the school." Monica continued without much consideration, which sounded as something regular and common.
However, it shocked Laurence. The way he looked at Monica changed from doubts to study.
Who was she? This little girl from countryside could get so much support from the Principal? He even helped her to rule out the conflicts with the Watermans?
But the relationship between his and the old Mr. Moore wasn't deep enough for him to make so much efforts.
Could it be that she told the truth?
Monica had a sip of the coffee. Her phone rang. She answered to know the driver arrived.
She got up immediately and remembered to put a 100-dollar note next to the coffee cup, 'My driver arrived. I must go. Thank you for your hospitality."
Laurence rejected the note, 'If only our engagement is valid, you are still my fiancée. The coffee here is free to you."
Monica was dazed for second. What a good deal?!
The coffee beans in his plant were limited and she could drink as much as she wanted for free?
