Chapter 42 Was It You Who Beat Him?
Impossible!
Although she felt it was impossible, she stared at Monica's eyes with fear after a pause, 'Is Marc really at hospital? Did you do it?
Even though she didn't ask the latter question, it was clearly written all over her face.
Monica looked at her confused face coldly, after she finished lunch while she was still amazed. She had no interest in listening to her ducking and diving, 'I told you just now to check with him, didn't I? I am done and head off now."
Then she stood up and left, while Ashley's eyes were fixing on her back, with widely-opened eyes in awe.
Who was Monica? Who was she? She could beat up a fierce man like Marc Andre?
Monica left the canteen and recalled what Ms. Hanna said this morning. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon, there was Mathematical Olympiad training class. It happened to be Tuesday. She turned to walk to the lecture theater.
Max walked out of the canteen after lunch and saw her carefree back, he narrowed his eyes, looking at her.
He saw she was sitting together with Ashley, including the vivid shock on Ashley's face when Monica left. He got really curious about what they two were talking about.
It seemed that Monica acted on the contrary, as if nothing had happened. He couldn't help curling up is lips and followed her slowly behind, keeping a distance of a few meters.
As they were near the lecture theater, he walked faster and got into the room together with Monica.
Annette was in the room and saw Max walking in from far distance, to which she looked happily surprised, but soon she saw Monica came along, her face went an ugly green immediately.
Annette was holding back her jealousy to ask Monica, 'Monica, how come you came to this training! This lecture is specially for those who were about to attend the contest!"
Monica looked at her calmly without a word.
Max who was just nearby replied, 'We two are participants from our class, so that our teacher told us to come."
Annette looked at both of them doubtfully, she could sense a taste of protection from his words, so that the way she looked at Monica became even more unfriendly.
Monica heard Max and then glanced at him without much expression. She knew he was following her. Since he didn't do anything, she just neglected him.
Now he said Ms. Hanna told them to come together, which she didn't care to unravel.
Monica strode to the last row and seated herself.
Annette started to have conversation with Max until Monica walked further away.
She noticed Max's eyes were following Monica without paying attention to what she was talking about, so that she raised her voice out of anger, 'Max, I am talking to you! How come you two came together!"
Max frowned. How come he didn't know Annette could be so pushy. If he knew it earlier, he wouldn't let her get close to him.
He walked to the last row too, but Annette dragged him to the first row when he was just halfway there.
The bell rang for the class at that time, so that Max didn't struggle with her.
An almost bold man trotted fast in and got on the platform to introduce himself.
'Hello all, I am Rick Beato, your teacher for Mathematics Olympiad training. I think you are all the elate students from each class, which is the reason you are here, so I cut to the topic without further ado. I will use the first half of the class to distribute the previous tests to you and explain the problem-solving process; and the second half of the class will be used for a test to get to know your level."
He took out a stack of tests paper and distributed them. Monica took a look and put the test paper into her bag.
And then she finished answering the test quickly and put it at the top corner of the desk. Afterwards, she took out a book to read.
Luckily, the teacher on the platform was busy with teaching, and didn't mind what she was doing, so that Monica read the book all through the lecture.
She was very interested in the hacking techniques in the book, so that she even didn't look up during the class. Annette and Max left together. When they passed by her, she sneered, 'Someone came from countryside, but she even didn't listen. Could it be that she even couldn't understand!"
Monica felt she was too annoying. She collected her book with a glance at Monica coldly, and then left immediately after she turned in the answer sheet.
Annette continued behind, 'If she had a clear understanding of herself, she wouldn't come for humiliation. Her answer sheet was even completed. Max, she's really good at pretending, isn't she?"
Max looked at Monica's departing back. He followed Monica impulsively out of the room without care about Annette.
While Annette was left on the spot, calling him back angrily.
Monica walked for a while and felt being followed again. She was a bit annoyed to turn back to Max.
Max was delighted to see her turning back, but asked her briefly as if he didn't care, 'Just now Mr. Beato hurried through the explanation. Did you really understand? We are from the same class. If there is anything you don't understand, you can ask me."
Monica wasn't grateful at all. She looked at Max and said coldly, 'I didn't listen only because it was too simple. I didn't want to waste my time on it."
Mas was shocked at her words.
