Chapter 24 Regard Monica as Their Boss
Suddenly people looked at Monica with some respect, but the weirdest thing came afterward.
Austin's compliance was puzzled too. One said to Austin, 'But, boss, this girl was unappreciative and even rejected you..."
Austin punched him before he finished, 'Don't talk like that to Monica! From now on, Monica is our boss. If anyone dare to bully her, I, Austin, won't forgive him!"
The compliance who got the punch looked at Monica in anger but dared not to continue. Others realized Austin was serious, so they lowered their head to express their obedience to Monica. Then Austin looked at Monica with a flattering smile, waiting for her praise.
In just a few minutes, it seemed to be in a dream. No one could believe it was true.
Benedict and Calvin behind were also stunned to no words. Max at the side was very interested in the scene. His eyes focused on Monica, eyeing her up and down.
Monica was calm without expression. It seemed that she felt nothing about Austin's behavior.
She looked at her watch coolly and said to Austin, 'I won't be your boss. Time for class, don't come to disturb me again."
Austin saw she opened the book as if she would really start to study, then he was in a panic as his father said several times to him that he must be on good terms with Monica and he shouldn't let her hold a grudge against him anymore.
He spoke humbly, 'Monica, I know I am wrong, please forgive me."
Monica was reading the book in her hand as if she didn't hear what he said, and also didn't care what was going on at that moment.
Austin flushed to see she didn't pay attention to him at all. At Oxford, nobody ever treated him like this. Originally, he didn't want her to be his boss too, but when she was rejected like that in public, how could he be the school bully in the future?
'Monica, you must be our boss no matter if you want or not!"
Austin left in anger after his sentence. Monica had no idea that she rejected something that was regarded as the best title in most of people's eyes. Eyes filled with mixture of envy and jealousy were on her now.
Max looked at her carefree face, knowing she really didn't take Austin seriously. Then he got even more interested in her.
Who was she? What made Austin inferior to her?
Annette saw how Max was looking at Monica coincidentally when she came for him. His interest in her couldn't be disguised. She was furious with her hand tightly on her schoolbag and came forward to block his view of Monica.
'Max, there is a newly opened coffee shop at the gate. How about we go for coffee after school?"
Max was unhappy that his view was blocked. Then he looked up to see it was Annette, so he accepted her invitation reluctantly.
Then Annette left satisfied. As soon as she left, Matt got closer to Monica, whispering, 'People say that Max agreed to be Annette's boyfriend after she requested him for a long time. Now it looks like it is true."
Monica curled up her lips mockingly.
Looking back to what happened last night at her home, that both sisters were so arrogant, but when they were facing the Vonti's brothers, they could be so humble. If her parents knew about it, they must have found it intriguing too.
Matt looked at Monica while scratching his head, and said in concern, 'Don't look at others. Think for yourself first. Is it really okay that you rejected Austin like that?"
Monica replied carelessly, 'Don't worry, nothing will happen."
Austin could never be a concern to her. She was out of her mind while reading the book in front of her.
When she thought of Kale, his eyes were charming and naughty, full of cynicism. But she was also annoyed by him too. She had no idea how he recovered now.
But if only he was still alive, her feeling of guilt wouldn't be so strong.
She took a deep breath when she thought of it.
The bell ringing for class forced Monica to pull back slowly her drifting thoughts.
Ms. Hanna came in on high heels with a load of tests paper in her arms.
She asked Suzie to distribute the paper and then walked onto the platform with arms folded in front, looking at the first few rows coldly then sneered, 'Some students even could cheat right by copying others. You copied even the mistakes others made, why didn't you write other's names on your paper?"
Benedict mocked in whisper, 'It must be Monica who made a lot of mistakes while cheating. We have done it for so long time and nothing happened. How come when she came, Ms. Hanna found it out?"
Calvin nodded in contempt for Monica.
Ms. Hanna continued, 'Benedict, Calvin and Max, you three are on the similar level academically. I wonder why you still copy each other? To step randomly on the test paper could result in more right answers than you did! Did you deliberately want me to know by copying each other so obviously?"
Benedict was mutinous that Ms. Hanna only criticized them, 'But Monica cheated too! I saw her copying, but why didn't you criticize her?"
Ms. Hanna was furious to see he was blackmailing others, 'How dare you blackmail others while you are cheating? Monica scored an A! She is the only one who got an A. Suzie answered two questions wrongly. You tell me, whom Monica copied from?"
