Chapter 59 Mind Your Own Business!

It went from mocking at Monica to the extent of feeling unfair for Max.
It was all music in Ashley's ears, as if it was the vent for all the sulkiness and envy she suffered because of Monica recent days. She recovered to be herself again.
Ashley turned to Max and ventured to ask after having heard what others said, 'Max, they all said we deserved each other. What do you think?"
Max was gazing at Monica while thinking to himself 'as expected" when he heard she scored 0, but consequently, complexity invaded his thought, because he was concerned if she would be impacted.
When did he start to care about how she felt? He was right to have offered her help with her study and even tried to persuade her. If only she knew he never cared for anybody else.
Not only she turned down his kindness, but also sneered at him, which he couldn't feel happy with.
As Max didn't reply to her, Ashley thought he was upset and rushed to look up with originally lowered-down out of shy, explaining in a haste, 'Max, I didn't mean anything else..."
Halfway, she realized Max even didn't look at her, but his eyes were looking towards Monica, as if he didn't hear what she said just now.
Fury was ignited immediately inside her. She gazed at Monica coldly with intention of killing her into pieces!
Monica got up to take her test paper carelessly.
Mr. Beato spoke gently to her calm face, 'Don't give up. Your solving process was good, but just each question wasn't complete. However, I have confidence in you that you will get gold metal in next contest!"
Monica glanced at the teacher surprisingly after she heard what he said.
As Mr. Beato was smiling at her encouragingly, without impatience, Monica nodded slightly, 'Yes, Mr. Beato."
The class was still gossiping without ending even when Monica returned to her seat, seated herself. Mr. Beato patted the table, spoke loudly, 'Quiet! Next, I'll explain the questions in the test!"
The class was over quickly. Monica collected things in her schoolbag and left when th class was dismissed. Max got rid of Ashley's hand holding his and rushed towards Monica.
Monica was walking slowly and soon a person stood steadily in front of her.
Max couldn't help getting angry to see her expressionless face when she was facing him. He frowned deeply, 'Monica, I didn't know you liked to lie besides your flirting issue. Did you say it was simple? But how come you scored just zero?"
Monica glanced at him coldly and wanted to bypass him without a word.
Max continued behind her, 'they said you would hold my back. Monica, please get your best out and don't let us loose face. I can ignore your brag last time and I still can help you study if only you promise not to have any contacts with other boys anymore..."
Monica looked up by then, casually rolled-up sleeves with schoolbag hanging carelessly behind. She glanced at Max for a few seconds oddly and then burst into smile suddenly.
It was like the snow was melting at the early spring, so beautiful beyond words.
Max was amazed, slack mouth forgetting what it was about to say.
Monica never smiled at him. It was the first time.
He met numerous beauties since he was a baby, but it was the first time he was startled by a true beauty.
Her smile stopped quickly. Her eyes gazed at Max indifferently as if they frozen him back in the history.
She stood there, as cold as snow, but her eyes were illuminated with crowded colors. She spoke faintly.
'Max, listen to me once again. Mind your own business."
Then she walked away, leaving no chance for him to respond.
Max was still dazed on the spot. It was the second time he was rejected. Her attitude was even worse than how she treated Austin.
But what he said was only for her benefits...
Max watched her back further and further, hands fisted tightly.
Monica didn't care what Max was thinking, but went to the coffee shop as usual. Afterwards, she went back to the dormitory, reading for a while at the desk.
Suzie finished the Mathematics Olympiad paper and switched on the computer to log onto the campus forum.
It was still a chaos on the forum as usual. Nadege was pushed out by the Rochats and also expelled by the school. What a miserable situation for her.
The second trending topic today was still in relation with Monica.
Some people spread the news that Monica got only 0 at the test, which aroused many satires immediately.
'As I said, Monica, a country girl, did badly academically. Generally, she is in no position to be compared with Annette or Ashley."
'Ditto. But I heard she is in the same class with Max. How could there be such a huge gap between them, one is A-, the other 0. How could she still be in the training session for the contest. I think she brought huge humiliation to Max."
'Of course, I saw Max was talking to her after school. It seemed that he wanted to help her on study, but Monica turned to leave, even didn't show any gratitude!"
'That is out of line. Even though she was under the protection of Austin, Max should be someone who she can afford to offend!"
