Chapter FORTY ONE

After mapping out the territory for him,I gave the paper to him.
"You don't have to worry I'll bring your child back and then you and I will leave this place",he promises.
I just hope they don't catch him. I quickly pack a bag just in case,I don't have much clothes but it's been getting cold lately,so I'll need to keep warm.
"Ms Eden, your mother would like to have a word with you", a guard says and opens the door.
This is my que to follow him,so I do. He leads me to my mother's and Cain's apartment where we all have dinner together.
My mother sat by the window looking out to the back of the building.
I sat in front of her getting a good look at her face ,she has always been beautiful just like I remember but the woman in front of me is not the same as the mother that I remember the woman in front of me seems distant and cold.
"Yesterday ended on a bad note,but I hope everything is clear to you today",she says .
"understand what mother? That I should stand by my mate just as you do with yours? Then let me go back to him then ,to Syrus my mate!",
" What did you just say",she says and turns to face me ,I then have a look of her bruised eye.
"Did that bastard do this to you?",
"No I fell in the bathroom,how can he be your mate? It's not possible for a
"A pure breed to have a human as a mate,I know,but seriously you feel that's the lamest excuse there is. You mate is supposed to be someone that loves and cares for human not beats you up",I say and kneel beside her.
" Let's go mother, let's leave, you're so miserable that Daniel was a better partner to you",I say,she raises her hand and slaps me across the face.
"What do you know! You know nothing,you don't know all the times I suffered being away from Cain , sleeping next to the man I didn't love",
" The man that loves you would never let you sleep with another man ,just so you'd convince him to make some portion,the fights you started having were not because Daniel lost his job right, it's because he found out you were experimenting on Ty and I wasn't it",
" You didn't live up to your purpose ",
" And what was that mother,to shift and become some half wolf half human superbeing that did all your bitting?",I asked but she just looked away from me.
" Did you love us , even just a little bit or were we just some experimental lab rats to you? Were all the nights you combed my hair and tucked me to sleep just pretending so I wouldn't tell Dad what you and Cain were doing to us. Is that why you changed?",
" Get the hell out!",
"And here I thought you called me to make amends. You should be ashamed of yourself,as a human and as a mother",
" I'd do anything for my mate even at the expense of you and Ty ",she said looking straight into my eyes. " If you knew what he has been through you'd understand".
I sighed and kissed her cheek because I searched for the truth in her eyes, even just a flicker of emotion,something to tell me she was just saying this because she was scared of Cain but what she said was the truth,maybe she didn't want to have us maybe she just did it for her mate.
I'll forget this woman in front of me and always keep the memory of the mother that I've always remembered. The mother I've always loved.
