Chapter FORTY NINE

Five years later……….
I stayed as still as a log and covered in mud. I slowed down my heart rate carefully listening to him.
I heard everything,the flapping of a bat's wings far away, the snapping of a branch. I heard it all perfectly. It's been five years since I shifted.I had no wolf but had all the abilities that came with being a wolf,my strength could not compare to a strong wolf but was like that of an average wolf,an Omega perhaps.
But I couldn't hear him nor could I smell him. I slowly moved to get a better view of my surroundings but cut my cheek in the process.
"Shit",I cursed under my breath. Rubbing the area with mud before he could get the scent of my blood.
I heard the snapping of a twig and searched through the darkness.I breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed it was only a rabbit.
I continued to look around. It was going to be midnight soon and if he hadn't found me by then then I would win ,I slowly smirked at that thought it was high time I showed that boy Malkiel his mother can do even better than the daddy he always idolizes.
My thoughts of glory were short lived when I heard breathing just about the little bush I was hiding in. The bush was ripped from its roots exposing my hiding place.
Dammit he must have already gotten the scent of my blood.
I didn't waste time and sprinted out of there,to lose him I decided to go up in the trees.
I had to reach the river, Syrus' Lycan hates water so it was going to take me some time to get back to the house.
I've now gotten used to the traits that come with shifting and anchoring my soul to his ,we understand each other's feelings very well but for privacy he should tell me how to block my feelings from reaching him.
But just as I was about to leap from on tree to the next ,his land clawed hand grabbed me by the ankle and I came tumbling down like a rag doll,I closed my eyes waiting for the impact of when my face hit the ground but it never came and I was held upside down dangling in the air.
"You just won't ever let me win will you?"And I got a playful growl in response ,he shifted me to his shoulder and headed for the house , within a minute we were out if the woods and the house came into view.
"Syrus, let me win this time,let me show the kids that being a girl is still as great as being a boy, please? Okay I promise to do that thing that you like",I say and he stops.
He shifts back to his human form with me still on his shoulder.
"Fine only because you asked me nicely",he smirks, making me roll my eyes. Of course he'd agree if I offered something in return.
"Now I'm only going to give you a second's head start",
" But that's not fair!",
" Do you want to win or not?", he said and spanked me.
He put me back on my feet and I didn't water a second and ran for the house.
I smiled as my 3 year old daughter's eyes,Alina,brightened when she saw me .
Everyone cheered and she ran into my arms.
"You see Alina you don't have to be a boy to do great things", Jill who sat on Collin's lap cheerfully said.
"Stop or you're going to fall off ", he warned.
" And you're going to let me fall!?"She poked him and that's how they began to bicker again. They're always arguing now that she's pregnant.
"Is it true mom?", She asks.
"Of course,just look at me, your aunty I'm the greatest there is! I'll kick everyone's a…", Yadira says but is stopped by Moon before she can say anything else in front of the kids.
" Yes honey you can ask your grandfather?", I chuckle.
Simon moved in with us now that he is no longer an elder,he helps Syrus take care of things in our territory when he is away to do whatever the elders do. I knew his favoritism of males with how he treated Syrus and Yadira but when Alina was born he fell in love with her the second he saw her. He is now a big fan of Alina, it's hard to see a big guy like him that always looks upset playing tea parties with a little girl but I'm getting used to it.
" Where's my Dad?", Malkiel walked to my side and asked.
"What about daddy, doesn't he get a hug? I need a hug because I lost and now I'm sad", Syrus chuckled,he must have used the backdoor to get some shorts.
"Dad, why did you lose? ", Malkiel asks and hugs him.
"That's how life is when you lose and sometimes you win,but losing doesn't mean you're a failure you just came out second and second isn't so bad", Syrus said.
" Is this true Mom? He's not lying just to make me feel better right", He asked
"Yes it is ",I say and carry him,the peaks of having superhuman strength.I know he hates it but he is still my baby and I love holding my children because it is what I missed the most when my mother left a mother's embrace.
"Then next time mommy you let daddy win",she says and reaches for him. Alina is a carbon copy of Syrus her black genes only showed through the bridge of her nose,I thought he said we were going to make a mini me,men and their lies.
It was time for bed so I went to put Malkiel and Alina to bed.
"Mom I know Dad let you win but it's okay when I grow up I'll let Alina win too",he said whilst yawning.
" You're an amazing brother Malkiel", I say and kiss him goodnight.
Speaking of brothers,Ty and I are always right to each other almost like everyday and Syrus delivers the letters for me. Syrus still won't tell me where my mother is but I think it's for my own good.
Daniel and I still talk as well,he is in the same prison as Ty.
After putting the kids to bed I realized I was still covered in mud so I went and took a quick shower. As soon as I opened the door I found Syrus sitting there with a smug look on his face.
"Time to fulfill your promise",he said, wiggling his eyebrows.
Because of my heightened hearing I could hear the sounds coming from Collin and Jill's room and the sly smile on Syrus' face told me he heard it too.
"Hurry up or we won't be able to catch up", he says and smirks and I knew I was in for a long night. Maybe after this Malkiel and Alina may be having a third sibling.
