Chapter 23
"Are you nervous?" I looked at the boy next to me, he looked very innocent. If it wasn't for the blood and wounds on his forehead, this boy would probably look good.
I ignored him and just looked ahead. As much as possible I distance myself from things that I know will eventually leave me alone.
"It's okay even if you don't baptize me." I turned to him, I saw a small smile on his lips, the disappointment on his face was obvious, I sighed and took a deep breath.
"When I say it, I do it," I said loudly enough for the child to hear, the three were just in front of me and took a nap, while I stayed awake and thought about how I could cross that church without getting hurt.
"But you're the ones who will have a hard time if forced--" he couldn't finish what he was going to say when I glared at him.
"Can't you understand?" I said irritably. He pouted and bowed. "When I say I will do it, I don't want to lose the--" I didn't finish what I was going to say, he looked at me. I just looked away and hesitated if I should tell him what happened next.
"You don't want to lose my trust in you?" He asked so I looked at him and took a deep breath, right? I don't want to lose his trust in me. He was the first person who trusted me.
"Shut up, you know too much," I said then stood up, took a deep breath then looked at the sky.
Heaven, Earth, Hell. Why was I placed in the last of these three choices? People say everything happens for a reason. Is there a reason why my home is in hell and not in heaven or earth?
I looked back at the three who were fast asleep, it wasn't good. I'm getting soft. I used to not regret being a demon but now, why... why do I think about things I shouldn't?
A few minutes of waiting passed and they finally woke up, Bael woke up first followed by Cynrad, and finally Pavel.
"We will start walking again," Cynrad said and stood up and then stretched, Pavel just smiled at me causing me to roll my eyes at him, I also stood up and then looked at the three.
"Fix yourselves because we're going to walk," I said turning my back on them.
"Sister, have you come up with a plan yet?" The boy with us asked, I looked at him then took a deep breath and shook my head. I still haven't thought of a plan on how to get through the church without getting hurt, for sure creatures like me won't be accepted in a place like this.
"Did you sleep?" I looked at the speaker beside me, Cynrad. I laughed and grinned.
"When did you care anything about me?" I asked and started to walk, I could hear the conversation between Pavel and Bael in the back as if Bael was telling Pavel about his dream.
"Just now? I noticed that when we woke up, you were already awake." He said, I just grinned.
"And what about if I wake up before you guys do?" I will ask. I heard his getting cheaper.
"You have such an attitude, asking you maa--"
"Yes, I sleep, what are you happy about?" I answered and then looked at him. I grinned when I saw his serious look. "Then what does it matter to you if I'm asleep or not?" I ask.
"You look so tired." I stopped at what he said, I looked at him who also stopped while looking at me.
"You look like you haven't slept, I noticed that your eyebags are growing and--"
"Is that an insult?" I asked and laughed then continued walking.
"I'm just telling the truth." He said and passed me while walking, Bael and Pavel also went along and passed Cynrad and I's line looking at us.
"What are you talking about?" Pavel asked us.
"Doesn't she look tired?" Cynrad asked the two. The two looked at me.
"Are you having a sleep?" Bael asked, making me tense up.
"Can you just walk, you notice a lot," I said and started walking faster.
Sleeping? no, I'm not sleeping, creature like us do not sleep, we are not people to sleep.
"You should also rest your body." I glared at the boy who suddenly appeared beside me.
"Don't get involved in the conversation," I said angrily to the boy, and the boy laughed.
"It's not like your soul is immortal, so is your body. It's still a human body and needs rest, if your body doesn't rest, your body will probably get sick." He said so I looked at him.
'What do you want to know?' that's what I wanted to say to the boy next to me but I chose to remain silent.
"You also need to eat because your body is losing weight, not because your soul is immortal, your body is also immortal, you have to eat and drink water, you also have to take care of your own body to keep it in order." said the boy, I took a deep breath and looked at the front
"I will also leave this body," I said, I felt him staring at me so I looked at him.
"You're the only demon I've seen that doesn't hurt." He said that made me laugh.
"You're not sure," I said while walking.
"You can't hurt your friends." That's when the smile on my face disappeared, and this boy's mouth fell open.
I didn't say a word and just kept walking, the whole time we were walking I was just silent, nothing came to my mind about what steps I should take so that I don't get hurt when I pass by the church.
"Ksara, let's rest first," Pavel said who was behind me, I stopped walking and then looked at the three of them who were looking at me, I looked ahead to where we will walk, we will reach the church in a few minutes. I nodded and then sat down under a tree.
"Hey, thanks." I heard Bael say as he sat down. "I feel like my thighs are going to break," he said then looked at me, he was about to take his eyes off me when he suddenly stared as if he noticed something strange.
"Oy, are you alright?" He asked, both of them looked at me. I raised my eyebrows.
"Your nose is bleeding." He said so he held me by my nose and looked at my hand that I used to hold my nose, I swallowed when I saw the blood on my hand. I immediately felt Pavel approaching me quickly so I looked at him.
"Look up." He said seriously and mixed with concern that's why I looked up.
"What hurts you? Do you have a headache?" He asked, I shook my head while looking up.
After a while, he stood up and wiped the chin of my nose. I looked at his face while wiping my nose.
"What is happening to you? We should not get sick because we don't know where the hospitals are here." He said then took something from his bag.
"Eat, you must eat." He said seriously, I looked back at the sky and laughed. People are naturally thoughtful, but I can't tell if their concern is genuine or not.
"She needs to sleep too." I heard what Cynrad said so I looked at him, he had his arms crossed while looking at me while Bael was next to him.
"In this situation, you will follow us," Bael said so my eyebrows arched.
"We're not leaving this place until you eat and sleep at least for a while," Cynrad said so I glared at them.
"They're right." I turned my gaze to Pavel who was in front of me.
"You need to rest, Ksara." He said seriously.
"It's fine--"
"You're not fine, don't be naughty," Cynrad said irritably.
"How many days have you not slept?" I looked at Pavel when he asked that.
Three, I haven't slept or eaten for three days, that's why, my soul can manage that, only the human body can't, Damn it.
"I sleep, but not very long." My answer.
"Liar," Bael said so I looked at him.
"We never once saw you sleep," Cynrad said that made me laugh.
"Do you need to see me?" I will ask.
"Can you, don't be naughty Ksara, just eat and sleep." I looked at Pavel when he said that, the anger and concern were obvious in his voice, and inside I smiled.
Anger, he already felt anger, good for that. He is no longer difficult to teach.
"Alright, you say it," I said then took the food in front of me and bit it, they watched me chew it so I laughed.
"Please, don't look at me like you're watching a movie," I said.
I looked at Pavel who was serious until now, I smiled.
He's so cute when he gets angry. I stopped chewing when I realized what I said. What's cute?
I was so tired that I just ate quietly, I didn't know that people's food tastes like this, it's like earth.
