Chapter 53

I almost fell off my feet because of what I witnessed. Pavel's expression has changed now that he is holding the bloody sword. In his left hand, he carries the two heads of Bael and Cynrad.
He killed the brothers; he killed Bael and Cynrad without mercy. He killed the two in exchange for my life.
Tears immediately flowed from my thoughts.
"Why..." I whispered as I looked in disbelief at Pavel, who was emotionless, but tears were flowing.
"Why... Pavel? Why?" I shouted, daring him to hear me. He violently wiped his tears, then turned his back on the bodies of his friends.
"Two lives, in exchange for Karma's freedom," Pavel said coldly and seemingly absent-mindedly. "I'm sorry, but the life of the girl I love is more important than the three of us being friends." He started walking while carrying the heads of the two. I shook my head.
"Pavel, you shouldn't kill," I said weakly as I watched him walk away. Suddenly the surroundings darkened again, and it was immediately changed to another place, a place where Pavel was standing in front of Alada, while the heads of his two friends were below and in front of Alada.
"I've already killed someone," Pavel said coldly. "Give me back Karma," he said weakly to Alada. I looked at Alada with wide eyes.
"You really killed someone for that poor woman?" Alada asked, and Pavel looked at her.
"I repeat, return Karma to me as agreed," Pavel said coldly. I immediately smelled the anger, jealousy, and envy flowing through Alada.
"Don't give orders to me, stupid!" Alada yelled and kicked Pavel's two companions in the head."Why did you kill?" it asked Pavel.
"Isn't that the condition you gave?" Pavel asked Alada, and Alada just stared at Pavel.
"And you trusted me?"  "I'm a demon; you shouldn't have trusted me."
"You are powerful, and besides that, you are the only one who can return Karma to me, so do what was agreed upon--"
"And do you think I'll do that?" I looked at Pavel, who still had no emotion. "I will not return the girl you love to you because she is one of us now," Alada said, I saw Pavel tighten his grip on his sword.
"I will not fight my brother just for what you want." Alada said with a smile. Pavel looked sharply at Alada.
"I killed my two best friends for your condition, so now DO THE THING YOU SAID!" "GIVE KARMA BACK TO ME!" Pavel shouted and was about to rush at Alada when she pushed him against the wall.
"Pavel!" I shouted and was about to go to Pavel, but there was another glass blocking my front.
"Please." Pavel said softly. "Give Karma back to me," he added as tears fell.
"Not every time your command will be granted." "You need to learn a lesson because of the greed you have," said Alada. "The father of the girl named Karma was too savage for the power and throne of the kingdom, you are too greedy and selfish to come to the point where you killed two of your friends for the girl you love," said Alada, only drooling. Tears are all I can do.
"Everything in excess is bad; you have to learn from your mistakes." "You sold your soul to me and killed two people for the woman you wanted, but don't think that this is just a trap to teach you a lesson," Alada said. I clenched my fist.
Alada is the creator of karma; she is the one who causes karma and bad events to happen to people who engage in excessive behavior. Alada is the judge of the greedy and savages in power. She is the demon who punishes the greedy and selfish. And that is the sin that Pavel faces.
Pavel became selfish, and that was his fault.
"I, Alada, the creator of karma, curse you that by the time the clock strikes twelve every new year, you in winsoul town will forget who you are and who you love, I curse you so that you can learn your lesson!" Alada yelled, turning on the envelopment of black power around her; it cleared a few minutes later.
Pavel just looked at Alada. He has no emotions.
"Karma," he whispered, tears welling up in my eyes.
"Please, just for a moment, give her back to me." "Even just for a moment, please, Alada." Alada was stunned by Pavel's words. I shook my head while looking at Pavel.
"Don't you understand? I can't--"
"At least for a while, at least for a week, please, give me back the girl I love," Pavel said absent-mindedly.
"Pavel. Don't do this," I was crying when I said that, but he didn't hear me.
"Why do you want that girl to come back to you? How much do you love her?!" Alada shouted.
"I love her a lot, it's gotten to the point where I sold my soul to you and killed my two best friends and caused the town to be cursed," Pavel answered weakly.
"You are too selfish--"
"YES! IT'S SELFISH! SO PLEASE! GIVE KARMA BACK TO ME AT LEAST FOR A MINUTE!" cried Pavel. Alada was surprised by Pavel's violent shouting, he looked sharply at Pavel.
"I will return her to you as you wish for at least one week, but when it's over I will release a new curse," Alada said coldly. I shook my head.
"I don't care... I don't know what curse that is, give me Karma back, please," Pavel said softly. Alada's eyes narrowed even more, she released black smoke from her hand and uttered the perfumed curse.
"I swear, that you will witness again and again how she die and how the darkness takes the soul of the woman you love, I swear that you will never die until you meet one hundred and forty Karma in the world. I swear, that the woman you love will die right in front of you! And when you have met one hundred and forty Karmas, you will disappear together in the darkness and take different paths towards light and darkness!" Alada shouted and at the same time the surroundings went dark.
My knees went weak because of what I heard. I sat down looking into the dark void.
That is, Pavel then and Pavel now are one and the same. That is, the Pavel then and the Pavel now have not died. They only forget what happened because of Alada's curse on the town, Pavel has not died yet and to this day he is still looking forward to one hundred and forty Karma meeting in the world.
Pavel has lived for a long time, but his outward appearance and his thinking have not changed.Alada's curse on the town caused Pavel to forget me.
Suddenly, the surroundings became bright, I remained seated in my place and did not leave. I just bowed as I thought about what I had discovered just now.
"Karma," I looked up when there was a pair of shoes in front of me, I looked at the face of the one who is infront of me and saw Pavel looking at me with a smile.
"You came back," Pavel said happily and hugged me, my body stiffened as Pavel hugged me.
"I thought she wouldn't bring you back to me." he whispered, I remained stunned. I immediately shed tears and hugged him.
"Pavel, why...?" I asked softly while hugging him, he didn't answer. Instead he looked at me.
"We have to leave this town and go to a faraway place, Karma, we'll be together," he said making me freeze.
"But Pavel--"
"We don't have time Karma, tonight is New Year's at midnight, we need to get out of this town before midnight, so let's go," he said and helped me stand up.
If my thinking is right, we will escape the curse of Alada just like Gabriel and Abiah did.
I looked at Pavel who was holding my hand while seriously looking at the road.
"I'm scared." I whispered so he looked at me, we stopped walking."I'm afraid of forgetting you," I added, tears welling up in Pavel's eyes as he hugged me.
"I promise, what you fear will not happen," he said while hugging me.
The Pavel then and the Pavel of today are the same, but the difference is that the Pavel of the past was selfish and the Pavel of today has no memory of everything that happened a hundred years ago.
