Chapter 43

"Prince Pavel, come in here. It's already night!" Pavel turned to the old man standing at the gate.

"Just wait, maybe Ksara will come, I'll wait for her first." I heard Pavel say. Gabriel put his hand on his head.

"You've been here for a while, you might catch cold. You wait inside here!" Gabriel said so I turned my gaze to Pavel who turned his gaze back to the road.

"Later, I'm still waiting for Ksara." My chest seemed to tingle at the tone of Pavel's voice, I could see from where I was standing that he was tired and bitten by mosquitoes.

Does he do that thing every day? Has he been waiting for my arrival every day since I left?

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, this is not the right time for me to return to you Pavel.

I opened my eyes and saw Pavel again sitting in front of Gabriel's house and playing with stones.

"I'll be back, when I've fixed the mess." I whispered to myself and smiled. I was holding the bracelet that Pavel gave me. "You will be king, that's a promise." When I said that, I turned back.

I just stayed here for a while at the place where the old man's house is, I just want to see Pavel before I go to Arae's place.

The wind blowing around is cold, it's quiet and there aren't many people walking on the road. Only light from the moon and lights from the poles served as light on the long road I was walking.

I stopped walking when I felt someone following me, I turned my back and saw no one. I started walking again but again I felt that someone was following me so I sped up my walk and then turned a corner and became invisible.

My eyes narrowed when I saw the person following me with a hand on his head, I immediately came out from where I was hiding and then went behind him and sharpened my nail and then pointed it at his neck.

"Why are you following me?" I asked coldly. He was shocked and stiffened.

"K...Ksara." I frowned and faced the person following me, my eyes narrowed when I saw Cynrad following me. He immediately stared at my nail and then returned his gaze to my face.

"Why are you following me?" I asked again, lowering my hand, he swallowed and stared at me.

"W...We thought you had left us." He said so I stared at his face. "Pavel... He was very sullen because he thought you had left us." He said, I swallowed what he said. "W-Where did you go Ksara? We were worried about you." When he said that, he suddenly hugged me causing me to be shocked.

I swallowed and I could feel Cynrad's concern for me, I slowly let go of his hug and then tried to smile at him.

"Get back there." I said, he immediately shook his head.

"Come with me Ksara if you want me to go back there." He said so my eyes narrowed. "I'll only go back there if I'm with you." He says. I took a deep breath.

"I have somewhere else to go." I said.

"I will go with you." He said that made me frown. What is this man thinking?

"No way, go home there and look after Pavel." I said.

"But you should be the one to watch over him because you're his yuniko, come on Ksara. I'm sure Pavel will be happy when he sees you." He said and then grabbed my hand and pulled me back to Gabriel's house, I grabbed my hand violently and then calmed myself down. I need to calm down because I might hurt into this Cynrad.

"I'm going somewhere, something that will help Pavel to become king." I said that made him stop.

"So go back there and keep an eye on Pavel." I added, trying to smile at him. "I'll be back." I said turning back.

"Why...do you always think about Pavel?" I stopped at what he said. What?

"You always put him first. It's because of him that he doesn't want to be king." He said that's why I turned to him, I could see the sadness in his eyes, I frowned because I couldn't read his emotions and feelings.

"What are you talking about? You know Pavel only said those words because of the curse but once the curse is lifted I'm sure--"

"How can you remove the curse Ksara? You are not as evil a being as the one who made that curse." He said annoyed so I just stared at him. "You are just an ordinary person serving as a prince's eunuch." He added that on this occasion I immediately took his right hand and pulled him.

"K-Ksara.." He said in shock, I just kept walking while holding his hand. "Ksara where are you taking me?" He asked that's why I stopped walking and looked at him.

"What will you do if I say I'm not human?" I will ask, he was surprised by what I said. "Can you believe it Cynrad?" I ask. He immediately shook his head. I laughed.

"Then, come with me, I'll show you who I really am." I said and started walking.

I feel the nervousness in his chest. I stopped and took a deep breath. Wrong, I shouldn't have included him. I will only ruin his life and my secret.

I turned again to him who was looking at me. I smiled softly and then slowly let go of his hand.

"Go back to Pavel." I said so he stared at me. I know what's going on in his mind, I'm sure he's wondering why I changed my mind.

I shouldn't ruin his life, I shouldn't let him know my secret either. I am sure that in the end, he will fear me and hate me.

"Ksara..." He called weakly.

"I will come back, because I want to see Pavel crowned." I said smiling, he just stared at me. I turned back and started walking when he called me again.

"I'll go with you." He said that's why I clenched my fist. "I will come because I want to help. Like you I also want to see Pavel become king." He says. I took a deep breath.

He didn't understand, he could be ruined if he went with me.

"Promise, I won't be a burden to you. I'll come with you because I want to watch over you and make sure you get back." He said so I turned to him. I don't need a watchman.

"You don't understand Cynrad, you're just putting yourself in danger," I said. He shook his head and held my hand.

"Please Ksara, I want to help. Take me with you." He says. I stared at his hand holding mine.

"Hate me, the time you came." I said weakly, he immediately shook his head.

I looked into his eyes, there was no sign of coercion there. He was the one who willingly came with me. I nodded and grabbed my hand from him.

"If you insist, go ahead." I said and then started walking, he stopped in my line and started walking too.

While we were walking towards the woods we were silent, I felt that he wanted to talk to me but I also felt that he was having second thoughts.

"How many days will it take us?" he asked. I kept my eyes on the road.

"Depends on what she asks in return." I answered, he looked at me but immediately turned his eyes back to the road.

"We're here." I said and stopped walking.

"Here?" he asked, I looked at him.

"Did I think we would last?" he asked.

"This is just the beginning, now I want you to do what I say." I said and then pointed to the cold stone.

"Lie down there and sleep." I said making him frown.

"You're making me laugh--"

"Just do it Cynrad, you have to do it so you can be with me." I said, he was confused but he followed what I said.

He lay down on the cold stone and closed his eyes, I waited a few hours to make sure he was asleep before I took his body to a hidden place in the woods. When I was sure that his body was safe, I immediately left my human body. And as I expected, Cynrad's shocked soul greeted me as it looked at me.

"K-Ksara...." His eyes widened as he looked at me. I smiled at him but he was even more scared and horrified, who wouldn't be horrified if a demon smiled at you?

"This is the... Reason Cynrad, that's why I don't want to take you." I said then swallowed.

"You're a--"

"Demon." I continued what he said. I looked at him.

As I expected, he would be afraid of me.
