SEVENTEEN!
BRIANNA
Ever since the fire that happened at Lady Gyde planting field, I suddenly took a vast interest in the affairs of my pack or dukedom. I still haven't gotten the handle of it.
My training session with Trish has increased and I have also been making house visits as well. Getting to know the people that serve me and I also serve.
I found out my mother had a charity foundation and I have been invited to take a tour of the facility today.
Guess everyone heard of super power and wants to see if I'm the real deal.
“You do know I can't be late right,” I said to Trish, seated on her bed, fully dressed.
“I know that but I have to look good,” she said and I scoffed.
“Why? Ethan won't be there,” I said and heard her slam her dresser.
“Making jokes like that is only going to hurt me more,” she said and I rolled my eyes.
“You shouldn't deny yourself happiness or because you are scared of a heat break,” I said to her as she walked out of her closet, looking dashing.
“You look beautiful,” she said and I nodded.
“Well, you look like a princess dropped from the heavens,” she said and I laughed.
“Don't hype me too much,” I said to her as we took our leave out of the room.
Agatha walked towards us, “your grace, my lady, there is a messenger from the palace,” Agatha said.
“Oh they finally brought the investigator,” Trish sighed and walked ahead with Agatha.
It's been a while since the fire and we haven't gotten a word from the palace even after we made several complaints.
It's different than the human world, over there, the cops come over, ask questions and get to the button of the situation.
I don't know if it's just the palace hating me or something else.
I got close to Trish and Agatha as she spoke with the messenger.
“We have an event to get too,” she said to the messenger who looked adamant.
“What's going on?” I asked.
“You are needed in the palace, your grace,” he said, bowing.
“You don't speak to her, I do!” She snapped at him, “and we are also not going anywhere,” she said, furiously.
“What does the palace want with me?” I asked, he remained silent for a while which irritated me.
“Speak,” I ordered him.
“My apologies, your grace, I was ordered not to say a word,” he said.
“We don't have to go,” Trish said to me.
“This is coming from his Royal highness, the prince, your grace we have to go,” he said, firmly.
“What do you think, Agatha?” I asked.
She sighed, “it won't hurt to go and also take extra guards,” she said.
“The duchess's safety is my priority, there is no need for that,” the messenger said.
“I have heard your message and I am coming with you but don't tell me what I shouldn't do,” he bowed and walked outside.
“I'm coming with you,” Trish said.
“I don't think I will be able to stop you,” I said to her, smiling. “But we have to cancel at the foundation,” I said, sadly. I was really looking forward to it.
We got into the vehicles and like last time headed straight for the airfield which took us the amount of time it did last time.
Trish began making calls to the foundation to cancel our presence in today's event and I felt like my heart got shredded.
I found some of my mother's diary, I learnt how much the foundation meant to her. I just need something that she was connected to, I need it to feel close to her.
We got to the airfield and hopped on the helicopter. I could see the field from up here and it looked very beautiful.
I still see the writing on the placard, like it was yesterday. I might have lived in the human world but this is where I belong. This is where I was born and I'm not going to leave or apologize for that.
It took a while but we got to the palace airfield and got into another car.
When we passed the palace gate, I knew something was not right.
“I thought you said I was needed at the palace?” I asked the messenger.
“Yes, but specifically, the palace hospital,” he said and I sighed.
“I thought you were given orders not to say a word,” I said to him.
“Yes, I was. Until we got here,” he said to me.
“This isn't right,” Trish said, “we needed help from the palace but they couldn't bring but once we are ordered we rushed to their aid,”
“It is the way,” the messenger said and Trish rolled her eyes.
“The way needs to change,” she whispers.
We got to a white tall building and the car stopped. It opened and I got down with Trish.
I walked towards it and it smelt new and at the same time old.
“It was built a few weeks ago, per your recommendation,” the messenger said.
“What am I doing here?” I stopped walking, “I'm not someone who likes to get played,” I said to him.
“I understand, your grace but you are not getting played,” he said and we walked towards the giant door, he opened it up with his fangs and a crowd of people welcomed us with the smell of medicine.
“What happened here?” I asked, walking around.
“War with the rogues,” he said.
“What?!” I yelled, “a war is happening right now?!” I asked.
“Yes, but a silent one,” he said.
As we walked past the hallway that was created in the Emergency room, I noticed a young nurse trying to clean an injury but she looked confused.
The man was bleeding heavily from his leg, “are you even certified?” I asked as I got to him.
I put on some gloves and applied some ointment on the injury. I wrapped it with some clean bandage and he was okay.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“I'm sorry, this is my first time,” the nurse said and I nodded.
All of a sudden there was a loud explosion and the building shook.
“We have to go now,” the messenger led me out of the Emergency room as my guards protected myself and Trish.
“This is purgatory!” Trish yelled as the building continued to change, dropping some rocks down.
He led us to a room and there was a lot of commotion happening. There was a big screen on the wall and it had a map on it.
We were lead to another room and our guards were made to standby,
“They are coming in with us!” Trish yelled
“They can't. This is not for their eyes to see,” the messenger said. I understand why Trish wants our guards with us but we have come this far and nobody but the smell of blood has been in our way.
“Trish, let's go,” I said to her, hopefully she understands, “we are going to be fine,” I said.
I took her hands and followed the messenger into another room.
The room seems to be the pathway to another room which was dark and long.
“Are we still going to be okay?” Trish whispered.
“Come on, you know this world better than I do,” I said to her and she sighed.
A door finally opened and we were led inside.
“What's this?” I asked in anger, staring at Liam.
“You are not here for me,” he said and moved away.
A woman was on a bed, unconscious and she looked like someone with…
“A blunt force trauma,” Trish said before I could complete mine in my head, she is a Doctor who doesn't like to practice.
“You need to save her,” Liam said, his eyes looking smoky and red.
