EIGHTEEN!

BRIANNA

I looked at the woman and then at Liam, who seemed to be very emotional unlike the tough guy he portrays himself to be.

I haven't operated on a human ever since my parents died and I have never operated on a werewolf before. How am I going to let him know I might not be able to help?

“Can you help?” His voice echoed in my head and I found myself shaking my head.

“I can't,” I whispered. With my mom dieing after I tried to convince her to get an operation I decided to drop my scalpel.

Anytime I go into the operating room, I find myself staring at my mom instead of the patient on the table. Which was a danger to myself and most especially the patient.

“She's shaking!” He yelled, myself, and Trisha ran towards her.

“Put her on her side,” I said and he held us to just start.

She stopped seizing and I knew by being here and going to have to work on her whether I wanted to or not.

“What happened?” I asked him.

“She was hit by an explosion,” he said and I shook my head.

“I'm asking about the war that is going on out there and the rest of the kingdom don't seem to have an idea,” I practically yelled at him.

“its need to know,” he said and I scoffed.

“Well, I need to know if I'm going to help your friend,” I said to him. I had to say friend because she wasn't Margaret and I didn't know who she was to him.

“Her name is Layla,” he said, softly, “and she is like a sister to me. Her father passed away recently,” he said.

“The second highest priest?” Trish asked and he nodded.

She gasped and held her hands, “goddess, I didn't recognize her. Bri, we have to help,” she said facing me.

“Okay,” I agree because of Trisha, “we need a better room than this,” I said and he nodded.

He whispered to his messenger who walked out of the room immediately.

“Oh Layla,” Trish caresses her hair, “how did her father die?” Trish asked.

“Rogues,” Liam said but somehow I felt he was lying.

“Are you sure?” Trish asked again.

“That's what happened,” he lied again, threw his teeth and I shook my head in disbelief.

The door suddenly opened and two men walked in. I recognized one as Ethan, the other one stared at me in shock.

“What is she doing here?” He asked Laim.

“Mason, not now,” hmm, Mason. He glared at me and suddenly his eyes landed on Layla and he ran towards her.

“Layla,” he called her name with affections, guess he is not that tough.

“What happened?” He asked.

“She got hit by an explosion,” Laim said to him.

He held her up and brought their forehead together and she started seizing again.

“Drop her on her side,” I said. Trish helped him.

“What's happening to her?” Ethan asked.

“She is seizing,” Trish answered, looking at him. I could see the shock and surprise on both their faces, she didn't know he was in the room.

She couldn't disappear or play tricks with him right now, now they both know that they are each other's mate.

“The room is ready, your highness,” the messenger walked in.

“We have to go now,” I said and I moved the bed to move, thankfully it has wheels.

The men pushed the bed and we got the room in no time.

I quickly placed her on a drip, while Trish started on her wounds.

I could see her fidgeting, so I walked over to her, “Trish,” I whispered her name.

“I'm sorry, can you tell them to leave,” she said but I bet she was only referring to Ethan.

“I doubt they will, you need to focus,” I said to her.

“I'm trying to,” she said and I walked away to check on Layla's temperature.

“You shouldn't have brought her here,” I heard Mason say to Liam.

“Is she helping or not,” Liam said without looking at him.

“Besides it's Layla, the Highest Alpha King will have to understand,” Ethan said and Trish dropped a bottle.

Ethan picked it and handed it to her, the whole room could feel the tensed emotions between them.

“What if your father finds out about this?” Mason asked Liam.

“Who will tell him, it most definitely not you,” he said firmly to Mason, “or do you want to abandon her again?” He asked. I could sense it's about to get heated.

“Umh, boys. It's kind of hard to concentrate here with all the noise,"I said to both of them.

I looked at Trish, she was almost done with all the injuries.

I bent down to listen to her heart and I noticed a really cool sigil on her neck.

“Don't touch that,” Trish and Ethan said at the same time.

“How is she doing?” Liam asked.

“Her injuries are less than I thought, she just needs to wake up and then she will be fine,” I said to them.

“When will that be?” Mason asked.

“It could be in a few hours or less. It's basically up to her,” I said to him.

“What do you mean, basically. Aren't you the doctor?” He asked, rudely.

“I'm a human doctor and I have tried my best here today,” I responded to him.

“Then maybe you should go back to the human world,” he said to me and I remembered the words written on the placard.

I scoffed and walked out of the room, I took a deep breath and placed my hands on my waist.

Maybe they are all right, I shouldn't be here. I definitely might not fit in here.

The door opened and Liam walked out, “I'm sorry about that,” he said and I scoffed.

“You don't have to be. I'm a big girl, I can take whatever anyone throws at me,” I said and he smiled.

“I know you can,” he said, “but you shouldn't have to,” I rolled my eyes.

“Yes, I know this contradicts everything I said to you the last time we saw each other but I mean it,” he said.

“Who is she to you?” I asked him.

“She is the sister I always wanted to have,” he said, “thank you for taking care of her,” he said.

“You are welcome,” I responded, then I decided to ask him about earlier.

“Why did you lie back then?” I ask him.

He looked at me confused, “lie about what?” He asked.

“About Layla's father, you said the rogues killed her but you were lying,” I said to him.

“How did you know that I was?” He asked, defensively.

I don't know, I just did,” I said to him, folding my hands.

“I wasn't lying,” he said, “but even now, the truth is complicated,” I looked at him confused.

I decided not to press it any further, it wasn't my place to ask anywhere.

“Brianna, “ he tried to speak but the door opened.

“Her eyes open,” Ethan said to us and I rushed into the room.

I walked up to her and did a little check up.

Her eyes were closed but her body was beginning to warm up.

“Look, she is healing,”Mason said with excitement.

Some of the wounds around her body seem to be closing.

“Why aren't her eyes opened?” Liam asked.

“Her body is still adjusting to the pains she is feeling,” I said him, “she will soon enough,”

I could see Trish and Ethan exchanging glances and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

I was about to leave Layla's bedside when I felt her grab my hands.

Her eyes opened immediately, “what are you doing here?” She asked me.

“You shouldn't be here, you are still in danger,” she said and her eyes closed.

What the hell just happened?
