LIAM

“Where the hell have you been?” I slammed Adrian against the wall.

“What the hell is wrong with you, get off me!” He yelled trying to get free from my grip.

He looked at his men for help, and they moved towards us. I looked at them with my wolf eyes. Ethan and Mason stopped them from coming towards us.

“Where were you?” I asked him, hitting his shoulder against the wall.

“Why do you care?” He asked. I growled, staring him in the eye.

“Father called you with the special whistle and you heard it,” I said to him.

“No, I didn't. I'm stationed in the east watch,” he lied.

“That's not what the roster said, you are supposed to be here in the camp. Father's orders,” I slammed his shoulders again.

“I switched with the guards on call, I didn't want to be idle, you can verify with them,” he said and I let him go.

He raised his hands in a fist towards me but it stopped in the air.

“Take your magic off me, witch,” he said. I turned to look at Brianna staring at him with her palms pointed towards him.

“Tell your witch to stop,” he said, struggling to put his hands down.

“Let him go Brianna,” I said but Layla came forward.

“No, he is lying,” Layla said, giving daggers at Adrian. This is going to turn into something else soon and I can't have that.

We are in the middle of a war with our king incapacitated.

“I will deal with it,” I said firmly. The tent shook slightly and Brianna released Adrian.

I walked towards her and placed her head on my chest, “don't ever do that again,” I said, kissed her hair and walked towards my father.

“What's the word?” I asked the healers.

“Her grace has been able to heal the injury,” the leader said, “but unfortunately the damage has already been done.”

“What do you mean by that?” I asked.

“Your father's healing abilities are no longer viable,” Brianna said, cutting off the healer. I looked at the healer who nodded.

“How did that happen?” I asked.

“I believe it's the bomb, according to reports the King jumped on it before it exploded,” the healer said and I nodded.

“That's not possible,” Ethan entered the conversation. “That type of bomb is still in the works,’’ he said.

“Yes, we haven't heard any news about testing for a while,” Beta Desmond, Ethan's father said.

“Well, obviously they brought it to the battlefield to test on us,” I said out loud.

“We could do some recon, find out how many they have here,” Adrian said and I scoffed.

“You aren't going anywhere, you are going to be here in charge of father's security,” I said to him.

“You can't do that!” He yelled.

“Yes, he can,” my father's voice filled the room and everyone stood at attention.

The healers rushed to him, “no,” he stopped them. “Go, take care of the men injured.”

“Father,” I walked towards him.

“Go, that's an order!” He yelled and the healers rushed out.

“What are you doing, Father?” I asked him, pissed.

“Why waste resources on me when we could use it on men who aren't dying,” he said.

“You are not dying. If there is a cure, we will find it,” I said to him. “Right, Ethan?” I asked but I didn't hear anything.

I turned around to look at him, “I'm sorry, Liam. I haven't heard of a cure yet,” he said and I closed my eyes.

“Adrian, go get ready for your post,” I said to him. “And do not try to contest me. This isn't a pissing match.”

I waited until he was gone, “Ethan, Beta Desmond, Adrian was right about one thing we need to do some recon but not today,” I said to both of them.

“We need to find out more about these bombs and how to take them out. Go now,” I ordered and they both left.

“Mason, Beta Desmond, I need to know how many of our soldiers are injured. Get the high Chiefs to fortify our surroundings. No one goes in or out without you knowing,” I said. They nodded and left as well.

“He is burning,” Layla said. Trish and Brianna rushed to my father.

“Is he going to be alright?” I asked them. The look on Brianna's face made my mind spin.

“There is something on your mind, Liam,” my father said, “spit it out.”

“It's nothing, Father, you need to rest up,” I said to him.

“You did good though, your Mother will be proud of you,” he said and I sighed.

“Well, I want her to see it and not be in a box under Castillo's control,” I said to him.

“You need to channel your rage into something else. Into leading our people,” my father said to me.

“I don't think I'm ready for that, just yet,” I said and he smiled.

“You are more than ready, son. In fact, you are more than capable,” he coughed, shaking the tent.

“Get the bowl, Trish,” Brianna said. The bowl was placed close to his mouth and he coughed out blood.

“You are going to be okay, Father,” I said to him. “I will make sure of that,” I touched his feet and brought my fingers to my lips.

I walked out of the tent before I could feel any kind of sad emotions. I don't need that now. I can't have that right now.

Maybe a good turning will ease the pain I'm feeling right now. And give me more time to think about my next plan.

I ran towards the forest behind my father's tent. I stopped to feel the nature around me.

I was about to turn but stopped when I felt a presence behind me. I turned around but no one was there.

“Who's there?” I positioned myself defensively. “Show yourself!” I yelled.

I heard a crack of a wood stick and turned back. “This is no time for games. Show yourself or be ready to die,” I noticed our military uniform behind a tree

“Stand down Soldier,” I sighed in relief but the Soldier didn't listen.

He raised his gun towards me. I raised my hands up immediately. There is no way I will get to him before he fires the shot even with my faster speed.

“Stand down Soldier, it's me Prince Liam!” I yelled loudly.

He aimed at me and shot, the bullet stood midway, turned around and entered his skull.

What a shot.
