37!
BRIANNA
I didn't wait for a word from her, with a swing of my hands I held her up and slammed her against the rock.
The driver ran towards us but Trish held her still with her hands.
“When did you see her?” I asked the man I just saved.
“She was here two months ago, she said she was an inspector. Then the water got stuck,” he said as he tried to catch his breath.
“Do you have anything to say for yourself?” I asked her.
“I serve at the pleasure of his Majesty, the Highest Alpha King,” she said.
“Ha!” I dropped her heavily on the ground and she lost consciousness.
“What do you want to do Brianna?” Trish asked me.
“Get me the…”
“The Dukal shield or the Elite Guard?” Trish asked, cutting me off. I scoffed and looked at her.
“I don't care, we need to find out why she has decided to drag the King's name through the mud,” I said, pointing at Akire and walking away.
“Where are we going?” Trish asked me.
“Home,” I said. We were both taken back to my castle. A lot of men were on the ground.
“What's going on?” I asked Trish.
“You asked for the Elite Guards. These are the Elite Guards,” she said as we got down.
“Your grace, I am Commander Blackburn at your service,” a man walked towards me. He wore a uniform like the military in the human world. Along with the other men who stood like sculptures.
“Commander?” I asked.
“Yes, we also use those titles in our world,” he said and I gave him a frown.
“Apologies, your grace,” he quickly said.
“None taken Commander. You need to find who sent my guard to block the water supply in one of our plantations,” I said, walking into the building.
“I thought she already confessed. That it was the King who sent her,” he said and I stopped.
“Isn't that wrong of her, Commander?” I asked him and he sighed.
“Your grace before you got here, when Lady Trisha was in charge we had many spies try to destabilize our park all claiming to be sent by the King,” he said and I nodded.
“Why will that happen?” I asked him.
“After your parents' death, the King tried to gain control of your royalty. Tried to make it his own,” he said and I touched the necklace I got from one of my Mom's jewelry boxes.
“These accusations are high and we need proof,” I said to him and he shook his head.
“We are not going to get any,” he said and I gave him a puzzled look.
“What do you mean, you still have suspects, they must have come from somewhere and you made them talk,” I said to him.
“We tried everything we could to break them but they kept their mouths shut,” he said.
“When you mean you tried everything you could, you don't mean torture?” I asked him.
“I'm sorry, your grace. We needed to know if anything to gain evidence like you said,” he said.
I walked away from him and he followed behind, two of the guards by the door opened it open.
I walked in to see guards at every corner of my castle.
“Trish what is going on?” I asked her and she ran towards me.
“Whenever anything like this happens. A spy being caught, the castle guards enact a protocol to safeguard everything in the castle including you,” she said and I nodded, trying my best not to act scared.
“Your grace we need permission to use whatever technique to get that spy to talk,” he said, pointing at Akire.
She doesn't look scared or afraid of anything. It looks like she doesn't care what happens to her as long as her mission is done.
“You tried that with the other spies and it didn't work. What makes you think it will work this time?” I asked him. He couldn't speak.
“I can't believe you gave permission for people to be tortured in our land,” I whispered to Trish.
“You weren't here,” she said, firmly. I took a step back, “the first time it happened, a village was burnt down, that spy got what he deserved,” she said and walked away.
“I'm sorry, your grace but Lady Trisha is correct. We still have the pictures of the burnt village,” he said.
“Let me have them,” I ordered, taking off my coat. One of the maids took it from me immediately.
One of the Soldiers walked towards us and handed the Commander a file. Everything still feels like I'm in the human world which is unbelievable.
There are ground of Soldiers who are working on computers and even some monitoring traffic cameras.
“Here, your grace,” he said, handing me the document.
I placed it on the table before us and opened it up. It was a horrific sight. There wasn't much to go on rather than burnt bodies and houses.
“How many?” I asked, my hands in a fist.
“Two thousand, your grace,” he said and I looked at him in shock.
“How many people are in this park?” I asked him.
“We are one of the largest, your grace, over forty thousand,” he said and I tried to hide my shock. I'm in charge of over forty thousand people.
“What did the spies say is their endgame?” I asked the Commander.
“Not a word, your grace and please let me tell you, my superior must get the answers from her,” he pointed at Akire.
“Must?” I asked, folding my hands. “I'm your superior superior, isn't that right, Commander?” I asked him.
“You are right, your grace but,”
“But nothing Commander Blackburn. Y'all must think I'm one human who doesn't know what the hell she is doing. Maybe you are right but I am far from being a human. I am the duchess of this park and the future Luna and Queen of this Kingdom. Anyone who seeks to defile needs to retreat or get in line because I'm going to crush them all,” I said, looking straight at him.
“Now, get the traitor to an interrogation room. I'm sure we have those here. I will be there in about a minute,” I said, walking away.
They all bowed as I did. I walked into my chambers to see Trish going through the exact thing I wanted to see.
“What are you doing with that?” I asked her.
“I'm trying to figure out a spell that might work on our spy,” she said and I gave her a puzzled look.
“I'm looking for one two people could use at the same time,” she said and I walked towards her, trying to piece together what's in my head.
“You were the interrogator?” I asked her. She looked at me with no fear in her eyes.
“Yes, I was and I still am.”
