NINE!

BRIANNA

I wrapped my hands around my body as I walked. How did I get here? I looked around a huge field and all I could see was a huge tree with a fire.

I hurried towards it but the thorns in the field pierced through my legs. The fire seems to be going out but I needed the heat. Who knew a field could be as windy and cold as this?

Suddenly a man appeared to be keeping the fire on, he has a striking resemblance to Liam, my mate.

“Liam!” I called out but the wind overthrew my voice, it sounded like an echo and I felt it within my bones.

The only way I could get to him was if I raced through the field without any thoughts of the pain it would cause.

I hissed as I felt the first one but I needed to get to that fire and Liam. I tried calling out his name again but the cold seemed to have shut my lips, I touched it and felt like a block of ice was placed on it.

“Liam, help!” I yelled as I got to the tree, he turned around slowly and that's when I saw his face. This isn't Liam.

“Haa!” I yelled, waking up from my sleep. There were noises everywhere and the van was still moving. I ran my hands through my hair and shook my head.

This is the second dream I am having with a tree but this time someone with a resemblance to Liam is after me. What have I gotten myself into?

I joined Trish in the passenger seat as she drove the van, “nightmare?” She asked.

“More like daymare,” I said, looking outside the van. It was so beautiful and all normal like the human world, apart from the sky which had multiple colors.

“It's magnificent,” I whispered.

“I knew you would like it,” Trish said.

“Like it? I'm in love already,” I said with excitement.

The roads are carefully laid out and I didn't feel a bump as we drove unlike the human world.

A bird flew by us and I noticed Trish contenance change, “what's going Trish?” I asked.

“We are being followed,” she said, looking at me.

“Followed?” I suddenly started to panic,”by who?” I asked.

“The King guards, do not panic, it's just routine. If we don't give them a reason, they won't stop us,” She said.

“Stopping us will be bad right?” I asked and she nodded.

I made myself comfortable and took a breather. “This is what you wanted Brianna,” I heard myself say.

“What?” I asked out loud. Not sure of what I heard.

“You still don't know if she is talking to you?” Trish asked and I looked at her, she gasped.

“They are beautiful,” she said. I picked up my phone and opened up the camera.

“What is beautiful?” I asked, not seeing anything to gasp about.

Trish began to laugh, “she is playing with you. Don't worry she will reveal herself soon,” she said.

We got to a big mansion and I gasped at the sight. As I got out of the van, I couldn't help but gaze in awe of the building in front of me.

It was huge, like the ones in the movies. Tall and magnificent, I can't wait to see the outside.

“Whose house is this?” I asked Trish.

“Yours,” she said, standing beside me, “or rather your younger sister,” she said and I gasped, closing my mouth.

“I have a sister?” I asked.

“No, you don't,” Trish said walked into the house.

My shoulder fell as I ran behind her, “what do you mean by that?” I asked her.

“I didn't mean anything at all,” she said, not paying attention to me as we walked the stairs.

“You can't just drop something like that to me and undrop it,” I said to her but she didn't say anything.

“Trish!” I yelled her name as the huge doors of the mansion opened up.

“My goodness,” I whispered at the sight in front of me. I thought the outside of the mansion was elegant, this is magnificent.

“Lady Trisha,” a woman in her forties walks towards her with a lot of young people trailing behind her, there were all in what looked like servant clothes.

“Lady?” I thought you myself

“Agatha,” Trish opened up her arms to receive the woman with a hug.

“It's been too long,” the woman hugged her back like a mother who misses her child.

“I'm so sorry to have heard about your parents,” she said to Trish who just nodded.

“Uhm, Agatha allow me to introduce your madam, the Duchess, Brianna,”

“What?!” I didn't realize I had said that out loud until all the faces in the room were on me.

I walked up to Trish, “you didn't tell me anything about being a duchess,” I whispered to her.

“Would you have come?” She asked, not looking at me.

Agatha walked up to me and held my hands, “it's been far too long my lady,” she slightly bowed and I nodded, taking my hands slowly from her.

This is getting weird and very real so fast. How can I be a Duchess, my parents never told me I was royalty.

I guess they couldn't because they weren't my real parents.

“I know you must be tired from your journey, so I will have a bath made. Your bedrooms are near and clean,” Agatha said to us.

I couldn't find the words to respond to her, “Thank you, Agatha,” Trish said to her and she walked away with her minions right behind her.

Trish inhaled deeply and exhaled, “oh it's good to be home,” she said, “don't you think Bri,”

I scoffed and looked at her, “I wouldn't know anything about that, Lady Trisha,” I said to her, walking away.

“Oh really, is that how you want to play this?” She asked, I walked outside to see our stuff being unloaded from the van.

“Where will my stuff go?” I asked her.

“To your bedroom, if you will allow me to show you,” she said to me.

“I don't know, Trish. This is already becoming too much and I don't even know everything,” I cried out.

“Weekend ago you wanted to bite my head off for not allowing you to return back here. Now you are ready to quit?” She asked me.

My hands slammed against my body, “that was before I knew I was royalty,” I said to her.

“Being royalty doesn't change who you are, Brianna. It gives you an edge,” she said to me.

She walked up to me and touched my hair, “it's just like the rich folks in the human world, they were not so different, were they?” She asked.

“I guess not,” I pouted. I looked around the environment I was in. Even though I have some restrictions, I felt at peace. Like I belong and Trish is right. I should make the most out of it.

“So, Lady Trisha?” I asked her and she laughed.

“Every Duchess needs a lady who is also royalty,” she said, flipping her hair.

“You love being called that don't you?” I asked her, smiling.

“Of course I do. I have missed being called that, don't worry you will get the angle of it,” she said.

“I hope so, or might cut someone's head off,” I said to her.

We were silent for a while and then she spoke, “I need to tell you the whole story, Brianna,”

“You bet,” I said to her.

“First we should talk about your sister,” she said.

“I thought you said I don't have one,” I said to her.

“You don't but we still need to talk about her,” she said and I looked at her confused.
