BRIANNA
“Are you okay?” I ran over to Liam after putting a wolfbane bullet in a man's skull.
“Yeah,” I'm fine,” he said, walking towards me and taking my hands.
“What were you doing here in the first place?” He asked me.
“Following you,” I said. “I wanted to know how you were doing.”
“Even though we haven't spoken since the hospital,” he said, bringing back awful memories.
“Don't do that,” I said, taking my hands off him. He is trying to gaslight me into seeing things from his point of view.
“Don't do what?” He chuckled.
“Don't try to gaslight me into accepting what you did back there,” I said, referring to the hospital. “I'm Doctor, Liam. That's definitely not what I do.”
The silence between us was deafening and he spoke, “we have to find out who just tried to kill me,” he said deflecting from the original topic.
I rolled my eyes and walked behind him. “He might be a solider from Castillo's camp who inflitrated our camps,” I said and he shook his head.
“That's not possible,” he said, “I know everyone of our men with their smell if there is a intruder I will know about it,” he bent down and sniffed the body.
“He is one of ours,” he said with curiosity.
“How can that be, you told him to stand down numerous times,” I said.
“Yeah, could be a coincidence,” he stood up and faced me, bumming our foreheads together.
“There is no such thing,” I said and he scoffed.
“Of course, there isn't,” he said and I sensed something.
“You know who it is,” I said and he turned around.
He began searching around the forest until he found a shovel.
“You can't just ignore me,” I said, following him around.
“This isn't for you to worry about,” he said and I scoffed.
“Are you kidding, I put a bullet in the man's head. I think I have earned the right to be worried,” I said and he sighed.
“Fine, he is one of Adrian's men,” he said and I gasped. “My brother just tried to kill me.”
He dug a grave in under five minutes using his abilities and I helped him place the soldier in it and we closed it up.
“Can you make it look like normal?” He asked, after filling the grave.
“Of course,” I stretched my hands over it. The plants moved over the grave and it looked normal.
“Now you know where one body is buried,I think this is called autopsy in medicine, " he said, taunting me.
“What are you going to do about this?” I asked him, looking at the grave which doesn't look like a grave anymore.
“Figure out if my suspicion is true,” he said and I raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean by suspicion, did you know this will happen?” I asked him.
“It's best if you don't know. To keep you safe,” he said, walking away.
I threw a witch's wind in front of him and he stopped. “I think I have heard the right to know what's going on,” I said and he sighed.
He turned around immediately, his eyes filled with anger, “knowing what was going on, was what got my mother kidnapped and stuffed in a box,” he snapped.
“I will not let that happen to you,” he said, breathing heavily.
“Me, not knowing things can also put me in danger,” I said and he ran his fingers through his hair.
“You are driving me crazy, do you know that,” he said with a seductive smile.
“No, no, you are not doing that,” I said, walking away from him.
“I'm not doing anything,” he tried to deflect from the situation. I heard him sigh and stopped walking.
“If I tell you, do you promise not to do anything rash?” He asked and I turned.
“Like what?” I asked him.
“Like gain control of Adrian's body,” he said and I rolled my eyes.
“He had it coming,” I blurted out.
“I get that but Adrian is a Prince and you are a Duchess who just came to authority. Despite people not liking him they will still rule in his favor,” what he said made a lot of sense to me now.
“I won't do anything rash until it's absolutely necessary,” I said to him and he walked towards me.
He held me by my waist, holding me tight, his lips were on my ears. “You know, whatever you want to say can be done using our mind link,” I said and he smirked.
“I like this one better,” he whispered in my ear.
“What's going on, Liam. Why did that Soldier try to kill you?” I asked him.
“I think my brother is working with Castillo,” he whispered and I gasped. He held me tightly.
“How can you be so sure?” I asked him.
“One of my spies intercepted a communication between him and Castillo. He wants my father's throne,” he continued.
“The throne is rightfully yours,” I said to him.
“I know that but not according to Adrian and Castillo. I think both of them are planning something worse,” he said and I sighed heavily.
“What could be worse than what is happening right now?” I asked him.
“Invading the human world,” he said. I got my ears away from his mouth and looked at him.
“We can't allow that to happen,” I said. “We have existed peacefully because we have lived separate lives from the humans,” I said and he nodded.
“Don't I know that,” he took my hands and we walked towards the pack.
“You have to act normal around Adrian. He must not suspect that we know,” he said and I nodded.
“I'm going to brief Ethan and Mason tonight. You, Layla and Trish can join us,” I nodded.
“How can we stop him, we don't know what plans he has yet,” I said and he squeezed my hands.
“We will find a way, just like we will win this battle. Castillo and Adrian together won't be an issue.” Suddenly I heard a low cry in my head.
“Somebody help me!”
“Tara!” I yelled, running towards my tent with Liam behind me.
I ran into my tent to see the most horrific sight. There was blood everywhere and Tara was held in the air with her neck.
She was being held by an inhumane being. I recognized him. It was the creature who stared at me as I saved the King.
“Let her go!” I yelled and his finger tightened around Tara's neck.
“We belong together Brianna. You and me,” he dropped Tara on the ground and disappeared.
