51!
BRIANNA
Liam laughed, brightening his eyes but I just stood there, staring at him. He walked towards me but I turned around and stood behind the table in the middle of the closet.
“Are you afraid of me?” he asked. I chuckled, rolling my eyes.
“I’m not afraid of you, I'm mad at you,” I said, walking towards him. “You literally ghosted me,” I said and he raised an eyebrow. “That’s what humans call it,” I said and he nodded.
“You look beautiful,” he said. I rolled my eyes. I tried to walk past him but he stopped me. He held my waist and brought me close to him, my back on his chest.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered in my ears, sending shivers down my spine.
“You are forgiven,” i said, trying to free myself from his grip but he held me firm and kissed my neck. That gave me goosebumps.
“You can’t do that,” my words faltered.
“I think I should,” he said, still kissing me.
“He is trying to distract you from the real problem,” I heard Dia’s voice. I turned around quickly and gave some distance between us.
“Stop,” I brought my hands forward when he tried to walk towards me.
“Remember, you can’t use magic,” he said and I scoffed.
“Oh really, is that why you think you can seduce me and we will not have to talk about what happened this morning,” I said and his face fell.
“I thought we could move past it,” he said and I shook my head.
“We can just move past it. I saw your scars,” my voice failed me. “Then you left me to my own imagination. You didn’t even want to look at me.”
“I was ashamed,” he said and I batted my lashes, “I never wanted you to see that. There are parts of me I don't want you to see.”
“Is that why you demanded just audio and thermal surveillance during the battle?” i asked him and he nodded.
“Oh, Liam,” I walked toward him and wrapped my hands around him. “You don’t have to hide yourself from me,” I said to him.
He untangled my hands and held them, “i don’t want but sometime i have to,” he said as he steadily met my gaze.
“I have to because that’s the only way we win,” his tone was unyielding. He placed his hands on my face, bringing warmth with it.
“You are going to have to take it like this for now but I promise to tell you everything,” he said. I took a deep breath and nodded.
“You are everything I need and more,” his eyes didn’t blink. “I want you to know that.” I nodded because I didn't know how to respond to that. I don’t even know if that’s his subtle way of telling me he might die.
“Promise me one thing,” I said and he nodded. “Don’t die,” I said and he smiled. He leaned in, brushed his lips against mine. It met in a tender kiss, his lips pressing gently to mine.
Suddenly, he drew me into a sweet embrace and claimed my lips with a need and urgency. He savored the taste of my lips igniting a burning desire that I had in me all morning.
“What was that?” I asked shyly, breathless.
“That’s my promise,” he said. He took my hands as we walked out of my chambers, straight to the common room.
“His Highness, the Prince of Silvermoon and Her Grace, the Duchess of Greenwich,” the announcer proclaimed, his voice echoing through the room, drawing the attention of everyone.
As we walked past each guard and soldier, they saluted till we walked out of the castle. There were a lot of them outside as well, in trunks and vehicles, moving towards the airfield.
“Your grace,” I noticed Agatha by the edge of the stairs with Tara, “Stay safe, your grace, please keep my baby girl safe,” she whispered in my ears as I hugged her. I nodded and headed into the car with Tara, Trish and Layla along with their mistress.
“Did you both talk about it?’ Trish asked as she sat beside me.
“No, we didn’t,” i said, arranging her hair and smiling. She was smiling as well.
“Are you doing okay, Layla?” i asked her because she has been quite the whole ride.
“This will be my third battle,” she said and i sighed heavily, “it doesn’t get any easier.”
“I can’t help but imagine this is all my fault,” I said. She and Trish looked at each other then at me.
“Why will you say that?” Trish asked.
“Yeah, what gave you that idea?” Layla asked as well.
“Well, none of this has been happening until I got here,” I said to them. “Maybe if i had stayed in the human world none of this will be happening.”
“First of all, a war between us and Castilo has been brewing for a very long time and secondly, you being here gives us an edge to win it especially since my mother is fighting beside him,” she said, sadly.
“We are going to get your mom back,”Trish said to her, “We are going to get her alive.”
“We have to,” i said, completing Trish's words.
We got to the airfield and there were a lot of huge planes. Like the ones used in the human world military. A lot of soldiers were getting onboard.
“This way, my ladies,” Akire said to me. I followed her as we headed into the royal plane with Liam and the others.
“Wow,” I said loudly, marveling at the beauty of the interior.
“You haven’t been in it?” Liam asked as he stood behind me.
“No, i haven’ yet. I figured during our wedding,"I said and I could feel him smile.
“Soon love, soon,” he said as help me to a chair because the planes were already in the air. “How’s Layla?” he asked and I looked at him.
“I think she’s trying to act tough but she is weak inside,” i said to him and he nodded, “if only Mason,”
“Don’t go there,” he said, cutting me off. “Mason isn’t just being a dick.”
“I know that but…”
“But nothing Bri, let it go. Layla is a werewitch, she can take care of herself,” he said and i sighed. Suddenly there was a huge turbulence on the plane.
“That was close,” Liam said but something felt off.
“Are you feeling that Brianna?” Trish asked and I nodded, standing up.
“You can’t use your magic, Brianna,” Liam said to me.
“I have to, the plane is coming apart.”
