TWENTY TWO!
BRIANNA
“It's a cold Saturday morning and I just had my morning coffee, Grey is still having his meeting with the King and I miss him already,” my mother's diary read.
“I miss Dash, too, Claire said to me when I told her about how I missed Grey. We are both seven months pregnant and we need our husbands by our side. But the kingdom comes first,”
I took a sip from coffee as I flipped the next page, “I got an idea to see both our babies' futures. Claire was against it but she has always been a scary cat but I finally talked her into it.”
“We have to be careful, Sierra,” I stopped reading, that was the first time my mom said her name.
A name such as Sierra belongs to a very beautiful Greek goddess, “I know, I stop Claire from giving her unending advice,”
“We prepared the ingredients for the ritual and sat opposite each other. Last chance to back out of this?, She asked again but I rolled my eyes,”
“We held hands across the ingredients and said the words. It's the rite of passage that has been passed down through generations and I only hope I can share it with my daughter,”
I closed the book immediately and took another sip from my coffee. This is the third day since I started reading my Mom's diary.
I have gone through her life as a teenager, falling in love with my father and being a duchess of a vast dukedom. I must say, I have learnt a lot from her in a short time.
“How far have you gone?” I heard Layla's voice behind me.
“Oh my goodness, you almost scared me to death,” I said to her.
“That's because you didn't hear me coming with my wheels,” Layla didn't feel safe anymore when she saw the King in her bedroom.
Fortunately, she hid my mother's diary with a lot of magic, so the King couldn't find it. We know he wasn't there to look for rogues.
I offered for Layla to live with us. I mean I live in a castle with a vast number of rooms.
“I'm close to the beginning of my life,” I said, answering her previous question.
“How do you feel?” She asked.
“About my Mom trying to see into my future?” I asked, and she nodded.
“I don't know, I think she was reckless in doing so but then she wasn't the calm one,”
“That's right, do go on. I will leave you to it,” she left before I could say a word.
I inhaled deeply and opened up the pages.
“The room started to spin and felt a surge of energy go through me, it felt like my baby is about to pop right out of me and then I fell into an immense darkness,”
“Darkness?” I thought.
“Suddenly there was light and I realized I was in the middle of a tree, then a bright light overshadowed the trees. The moon goddess, I bowed down to her,”
“You should stop feeding to your curiosity, you will get someone hurt,” she said, referring to Claire who was unconscious beside me,”
“Claire!” I raced to her to feel her pulse, she was still breathing,”
“She is fine, she is having the same dream you are,” she said and looked to my left side, I followed her eyes to see me on the floor as well, unconscious. It was then it all hit me,”
“But I am glad you decided to see your child's future because Brianna, Trisha and Layla's destiny are intertwined and so are their mates,” she said.
“That's right, baba girl, the moon goddess gave you your name.” “ Who is Trisha and Layla?” I asked her.”
“Trisha is Claire's baby girl and Layla you will find out soon enough,” “I guess you could say that was a terrible thing to be done by the moon goddess. Nevertheless I was already in love with the three of you, especially you my pumpkin,”
I closed the book again and this time I felt tears down my cheeks. I don't know why I am crying but it all seems unreal.
I opened up the pages again and continued, “why are their destiny intertwined, moon goddess!” I asked.
“That's because together they will save the world from the evil that is emerging but there is a down slide,”
“What is it, moon goddess?” I asked. “You will not live to see them accomplish this because one of the evil that will emerge is close to home,”
“Who is it?” “The King,” she suddenly disappeared and my eyes opened.
I could see your father standing over me with worry in his eyes, “we have to protect our baby,” I said to him.
So my mother knew from the beginning that the king was a threat, why didn't she just take him out.
I rushed into the castle and the smell of delicious food filled my nostrils.
“Hi, Agatha,” I greeted her as I took my seat at the dinner table.
“Your grace,” she bowed and left.
“It looks amazing,” Trish said, usually I would respond but am mad at her for not telling me the whole truth.
“Are you still hating on me?” She asked.
“Maybe,” I said to her, taking a sip from the plate of potato soup in front of me.
“It is delicious,” I said and she smiled.
“Did your Mom say anything about my mom?” Layla asked and my heart went out to her.
At least I know who my mom is, she might be dead but I least I know she is my mom. Layla just has a diary.
“No, I'm sorry. The moon goddess only gave her your name. I bet she died not knowing you or your Mom,"I said to her.
“What more did the moon goddess say?” Trish asked.
“She gave our moms our names, they knew our names and gender,” I said.
“Yeah, I read that in my Mom's diary?” Trish said.
“She also said our destiny is intertwined with our mates,” I said and Layla dropped her spoon.
“She can't be serious,” Layla said.
“She was pretty serious according to my mom's writing,” I said to her.
“I can't have a mate like Mason,” she said, abruptly.
I also dropped my spoon and faced her, “how complicated is this thing you have with Mason?” I asked her.
“Aren't you connected already?” Trish asked, “I mean it looked like you guys were already connected when you were unconscious,”
Unconscious, I'm really tired of hearing that word.
“Yes we are connected,” Layla finally spoke, “but he has a thing against werewitch, so it's complicated,” she said.
I looked at her shocked, “wait there is discrimination here as well?” I asked.
“I thought everyone is equal at least knowing your rank,” I said and they both laughed.
“This world isn't all that different from the human world except our supernatural ability that's the basic thing keeping us different,”
I was about to speak when one of the handmaiden walked in with three envelopes. She gave us each one.
I opened it, “it's Liam and Margaret betrothal announcement,” Layla said.
“We can't let that happen,” Trish said.
“Yeah,” I whispered. We have to find a way to crash the party.
