BRIANNA
It was like I had no control of my body and my mind. The whole place was getting torn up and the wind was getting bigger.
“Focus, Brianna. You can do this,” I heard Trisha's voice but it was from a distance. I could hear the cry of the villagers that their village was burned. I could feel their pain. It was intense and not like anything I have ever experienced.
I tried taking a deep breath but I couldn't, “try touching her,” I heard Trish's voice but again it was from a distance.
I felt a warm hand around me, the wind around me began to decrease and suddenly I was able to calm down.
“What was that?”
“How could she do that?”
“What exactly is she?” I heard a lot of words and people talking all at the same time.
“We need to get you to the med bay,” I heard Trish's voice. This time it was closer.
Lima helped me up but I walked away from him towards the med bay.
“Your hands, Brianna,” Trish said with concern and I clicked my tongue.
“I'm fine. I'm not in any pain,” I said to her. She sat down and placed some gauze on it.
“Hold that still,” she said, not looking up. Even as Ethan touched her shoulder. My guess is she is mad at him for making us stay in the castle.
“I want you to know it wasn't easy making that decision,” Liam said and I nodded.
“Of course, you did what you needed to do to keep your Warriors cover in the enemy's camp,” I said, not looking at him as well.
“If that was what you were going to say, then why the witch wind,” Mason said.
“Mason!” Liam thundered. His voice shook the ground as well.
“Okay, you are getting checked up as well,” Trish said to Liam. “We can't have you both disrupting our activities here.”
“Witch wind?” I asked and Trish looked at me.
“It's common among witches to summon the wind to help them,” she said to me.
“How common?” I asked and she batted her lashes.
“Once in a generation,” she said and I gasped, “you are the greatest werewitch that we have ever since,” she said, smiling at me.
“But I don't think that's something to smile about. I could have killed a lot of people today. If Liam hadn't…,” she placed her hands on mine.
“That's what the goddess said, our mates complete us like never before,” she said and I nodded.
“I need to speak with Akire,” Liam said suddenly.
“And you will be your highness at the appropriate time,” That was Agatha's voice behind him.
“Mistress Agatha,” both Mason and Ethan bowed slightly at her.
“Mistress?” I asked, looking at her.
“I was once their teacher, schooling them in the act of espionage and infiltration,” she said and I nodded.
“I can see this is where you came to hide from my father,” Liam said to her.
“Who said I was hiding?” She smirks at him.
“I really need to talk to Akire, gather information on what she knows,” Liam said and Agatha handed him a dossier.
“Here is everything she knew about today's attack and any future ones,” she said to him.
“She knew about today's attack in the palace,” he said and I looked at him confused.
“What attack, Akire said it was just a riot,” I said to him, “why will she lie?” I asked.
“She realized it was already too late to talk to Liam, her next mission was to keep you safe,” Ethan said and I nodded.
“Ethan is right, your grace but there is one more flaw,” Agatha said, “she could have told you of the impending attack here,” she said, looking at Liam.
“Well, I was out fighting one attack that obviously she didn't tell me off. So we need to reassess her. We need to know if she is a double agent,” Liam said and I gasped slightly.
“But she did tell us about the attacks here,” I stated.
“Yes, after we reported the first village was on fire,” Trish said.
“How many villages burned?” Mason asked.
“Just the one,” she said and he nodded.
“But it could have been a lot worse if she hadn't told us,” I said to them, “let's at least consider that before we throw the double agent status on her,” I said to them.
“You weren't in the palace Brianna. People were killed. A lot of soldiers died. I lost….hmm,” he said and walked away. Mason was right behind him.
“What did I do wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing, your grace,” Ethan said to me and I looked at him. “He lost his caller,” he gave and I blinked my lashes.
“His caller?” I asked.
“A sniper has a caller,” Trish said, “a soldier who calls his target.”
“And this particular one was his fifth ever since Liam has started fighting. They all gave their lives for his life,” he said and I gasped.
“Liam almost died?” I asked and he nodded. “Oh my goodness,” I shuddered.
Trish placed her hands on my shoulder, “stay calm. The people can't see you being weak. Liam is fine, he is right over there and we are going to survive this,” I looked at Agatha. Who was nodding her head at every Trish was saving.
“Tell me you got this,” Trish said to me.
“I got this,” I nodded at both her and Agatha.
“Your grace!” Commander Blackburn ran towards us.
“What is it Commander?” I asked, Liam and Mason walked back towards us.
“We figured out how the place came down,” he said, handing each of us a tablet.
“What am I looking for, Commander?” I asked him.
“A person, ma'am,” he said and I looked at him confused.
“There,” Trish said out loud. I looked closer and I could see a woman dressed in black, looking all worn out.
“She took down the chopper?” I asked and he nodded.
Liam scoffed, “nobody can do that. Not even the most powerful witch,” he said, trying hard not to look at me.
“Our mother can,” we all heard Layla's voice and looked up. “Our mother is still alive, Liam,” she said.
