BRIANNA

“We are going into battle, not just any battle but also a war with a kingdom who thought they could mess with us and go scot free,” the King started his speech as the soldiers got into trunks. Ethan said it was like a tradition.

“After receiving valuable information about the point of attack for Castillo’s men we all will be matching onward toward the battle field and we must ensure victory,” the king said with more authority than usual.

“Does he mean the men Ethan and Liam killed?” Trish asked, standing beside. Those words sent my mind into a tailspin,

FLASHBACK

“What do you think is happening there?” Trish asked as we walked out of the hallway.

“I think whatever they think is necessary to get the information from the guy,” I answered her.

“They won’t kill him right?” she asked, her tone had a hint of fear. I stopped her from walking and made her face me.

“You are an interrogator, you use spells and potions to make people talk. Don’t tell me this scares you?” I asked her. She sighs and looks down at her feet.

“Yes, I do all of that but I have never interrogated a sick person much less an enhanced interrogation. You know some agencies in the human world are accused of doing,” she said and fear rushed through my body.

“He is a spy,” Layla spoke up, “his KIngdom will do the same if they caught any of our spies as well,” she said rather casually. “The only people that should wipe for him are his kinsmen, not any of us.”

“You sounded like someone with no soul, Layla. You do know you can talk to us,"I said to her. She was about to leave when one of the guards ran to us.

“Apologies, my ladies but his Highness needs your help,” I didn't wait for him to finish, I ran towards the room I saw Liam walking into earlier.

“My lady, you shouldn’t….” too late. I opened the door to see blood everywhere on the floor and in Ethan and Liam’s hands.

“Fix him up,” that came from Ethan but more like a command. I rushed to the man on the door and tried to hear his heartbeat.
“His heartbeat is faint. We need to get him to surgery now,"I said looking at the both of them but their eyes were giving me another answer.

“Liam, this man is going to die. He is in pain right now,"I said to him. He looked at me, his eyes were different, darker.

“Give him something for the pain,” he said and I scoffed.

“He won’t last ten minutes no matter how many drugs I pump into him. He needs to be in surgery now. Trish, get a surgical team in here,"I said and she rushed out.

“He is not going anywhere till he talks,” Liam shoved me and went straight to the man. He inserted his fingers into the hole in his stomach. The man’s scream filled the room.

“You are not going into any surgery until you give me what I want!” Liam's voice was even louder than the man’s scream. His authoritative voice filled the room and I shivered.

“All right, I will tell you,” the man said panting. I hissed and moved closer.

“At least, let me give him something for the pain,” I said. Liam turned to look at me. His eyeballs were the colors of a flaming fire. I moved back in fear.

FLASHBACK ENDS

“Are you okay, Bri?” Trish placed her hands on my shoulder. I flinched and adjusted. I could hear Layla sneer behind me.

“Both of you are weak, pouting over a dead man that will kill you without even blinking,” Trish was about to respond to her but i stopped her.

“You can’t keep replying to her anytime she gives a sneaky comment,” I said to Trish.

“Well, she can’t keep making those sneaky comments,” she replied and I sighed. I looked back at Layla. I still haven’t been able to figure out what she saw when she was out looking for her mother. Whatever she saw changed her and made her more driven towards the cause against Castilo.

“Adrain, Liam's brother stood beside her and I turned to face the king, " I haven't told the King I saw you in Castillo’s land and you haven’t told him either. Are you keeping it a secret?” he asked her.

Layla scoffed, “what makes you think it’s a secret?” she asked him.

“Well, from the looks of things you haven’t told your friends either, will that be the reason why you are avoiding them?” he asked another question. I could tell she was getting pissed already.

“You should remember Adrian that i kicked your ass the last time we saw each other. Don’t make the same mistake of underestimating me again,” she said and I stopped eavesdropping.

“We will march forwards and we will be the bravest army Castilo and his men have ever seen,” the king’s speech was still going on. I felt eyes on me so I looked towards Liam. I caught him staring at me. We still haven’t talked since the incident at the hospital.

“Have you both talked about it?” I asked Trish.

“If you are referring to the things we saw at the hospital,” she took a deep breath. “No,” she said, rather sharply.

“Yes, that’s exactly what I'm talking about,” I said to her. “Why did you give me a fast reply?” I asked.

“That's because, instead of doing the actual talking we are doing the other type of talking which does not involve talking at all.”

“Ohh,” I said, getting the clue about what she meant.

“Yeah, and I know you prefer actually talking to that,” she said and I nodded, glancing at Liam. “You are asking because you and Liam haven’t spoken as well,” her words came out like a question.

“This is the first time we are seeing each other since then,” I said, trying to listen to the King’s words. “At least you are doing some kind of talking,” I elbowed her and she blushed.

“Not the kind that I hoped for but it’s good,” she said and leaned closer to my ears, “it’s so good.”

“Eww,” I pushed her away from me. The King was rounding up his speech. Finally,

“And when we have won. When Castillo is down on the ground. There will be weeks of celebration to mark the marriage of my son, your heir and his betrothed.”

“What?” I looked at Trish.
