BRIANNA

I opened my eyes and it was still dark, I looked up towards Trish's side of the tent, she was asleep like a baby.

There was a lot of noise outside the tent. Soldiers don't sleep during a war. This one is no exception.

I turned on the uncomfortable bed, looking up at the top of the tent. What did that Major give to me? I'm supposed to be asleep, not with my eyes open like an owl.

“What makes you think you are awake?” I heard a voice close to my ear and I jerked up.

I touched my forehead and it was sweaty. I don't think any person sweats in the dream world.

The noise outside seems to die down, “that's odd,” I whispered to myself.

I walked outside barefooted, with my hands forward to evade any type of danger with my magic.

I got outside to see most of the Soldiers asleep on the ground.

“Goddess,” I sighed in relief and turned around. I was about to walk in when my eyes caught something.

I looked back to see blood on the neck of the closet soldier. I ran towards him and placed my scarf on his neck.

“Hold on,” I said to him, looking around me for help but what I saw was just more dead soldiers.

“What's happening?” I cried out. The soldier held my hands and I watched as life was drained out of him.

“Was Castillo warned?” What's going on?”

“What was Castillo warned about?” I heard a voice behind me and I rose up.

I didn't need to turn to see who it was. That voice has been with me since Tara's attack.

“I'm awake, how are you here?” I asked as I turned.

“How naive to think you are,” the shadow said. I raced to my tent and saw my body on the bed.

“The serum didn't work,” I whispered and I heard it groaned.

“What serum, is that what's blocking me from accessing you?” It asked and I smirked. At least it's doing something.

“You need to get out of my mind,” I said and the shadow turned into a face. Lima's face.

“What about now?” It's spoke in Lima's voice. “Can I be in your head now?” It smirked just the way Liam does.

“You will never be him,” I said, boldly. “Liam is far more better and human than you are,” I spat.

“Careful, you are starting to piss me off,” I took a step back, looking at the face the shadow just turned into.

“It can't be,” I whispered. “You don't know about my human life,” I said, looking at the face of the person who bullied me in highschool.

“My guess is that serum is wearing off,” her smug voice echoed in my ear. I remembered it like it was yesterday.

“We are meant to be soulmates,” the shadow said in Liam's voice using his face.

“Oh really,” I decided to taunt it. “You are using the face and voice of my real love to talk to me,” I said.

“We aren't soulmates, we aren't anything at all. “You are mainly using that to get at me. To make me feel vulnerable and weak.”

“I was told you were intelligent, which mother did you get that from? The Doctor or the werewitch. They were both murdered, right?”

The voice of the shadow echoed in my head and I felt my defenses weaken.

“Yes, show me what is hidden,” he started a spell but I blocked him out, throwing him off balance.

“You can't block me all through the night,” the shadow smirked.

“I can try,” I said, breathing heavily. “What's your name?” I asked, trying to keep it busy from searching my mind.

“I was known as Kage, it means the great shadow,” Kage said and I chuckled.

“What's so funny?” Its voice vibrated through its Shadow body, showing space and vulnerability.

“Nothing, your name is literally what you are Kage,” I said.

“You are looking for my weak point,” the shadow face turned to Castillo but changed immediately to Mason's.

“You are also doing the same to me,” I said, acting like I didn't see what just happened.

“I'm going to find out what I need to know and you are not powerful enough to stop me,” it said.

“Well, we will see about that,” all of a sudden there was a fear that creeped past my heart.

Kage and I are talking, we are having an actual conversation even though it's filled with threats.

Is this what Major Bee said about the closeness we will feel together.

“What about Major Bee?” Kage asked and I blocked my thoughts.

“Stay out of my head,” I said firmly and it laughed hysterically. It sounded like those villains in movies.

Just that this isn't a movie, it's real life. It's my life.

“You know, all this will end with you just letting me have what I want,” Kage said and I looked at him.

“What is it you want, Kage?” I asked him and his smirk disappeared.

“I will know when I have it,” he said and I nodded.

“It doesn't have anything to do with Castillo?” I asked and his face changed to Mason again but this time there was a hint of Adrian's face too.

He is trying to set Mason up. I'm guessing that's the plan between Castillo and Adrian.

“I'm here for myself,” he said but I knew better than to believe him. “There is something you read in your Mother's journal that I need. it's going to make me have my skin again.”

“Right, like I'm just going to hand that over to you. There are only wizards not werewizard. You defiled the law of nature,” I said and he began laughing.

“What about him,” he pointed towards the forest. There was a Soldier walking towards us with his hands on his neck. “Did he defile the laws of nature as well?”

I raced towards the Soldier as he landed on the ground. “Help,” he pleaded, his voice low and husky.

“What happened?” I asked, trying to find the source of the bleeding.

“He is a Soldier who defied orders and decided to hunt for prey. Does he deserve to die,” I heard Kage's voice and also felt him trying to get into my mind.

“Shut up Kage!” I yelled, trying to shut it up.

All of a sudden I felt myself on the air. I turned around and I saw Kage's fingers stretched towards me.

“Let me go, Kage,” I said firmly.

“You don't make the rules in this place I do,” Kage said. “This is the dark world, my world.”

“You are wrong, this might be your world but I dominate it. Now let me go and get out of my head!” I yelled and rose from my bed.

I looked up to see a lot of eyes on me.
