Chapter 41

I wasn’t sure whether to believe her or not, but I knew she had my best interests at heart, she wanted us to stay safe and have the best of everything. We entered the bedroom that was meant for me and my jaw dropped, the room better than anything I could have wanted or thought possible. The room was decorated in soft violet wallpaper, the bedding of the queen size bed matching it, and so did the rug that was just sitting beside the bed.
I was astonished that they had gone to so much trouble for me, that they had taken the time to do this for a former slave. It made me love them even more, knowing that they were going to treat me like a princess. Being the Red wolf didn’t just give me caring and loving mates, it gave me a home, somewhere I could call my own. Somewhere I wasn’t a slave.
Dean showed me the walk-in bathroom that was beside one the three doors in the room, my heart pounding in my chest. Once again it was decorated in purples and violets, the towels matching the walls. Their was a massive oval shaped bath and a shower beside it, then a toilet and two sinks, it was simple and yet so extravagant I could barley breath.
“What do you think?” Dean asked me, worried over my silence.
Honestly, I had no idea what to say, it was perfect beyond words and I didn’t know how to describe my love for it. Or how happy I was that they had done this for me.
“It amazing.” I awe, “thank you so much.”
He smiles brightly, “think nothing of it, anything for my lady.”
I lean over and kiss his cheek, my chest swelling with affection. I had never been treated like this before, not for my entire lifetime, but somehow I knew that this was just the beginning, they would do anything for me; and I would do anything for them. All of them. They were mine and I was theirs.
“Let’s show you the rest.” He says, taking my hand.
He opens the next door opposite the closet and my face drops, my heart soaring like nothing else ever before. I had a tv room! Shelves were lining the walls with all kinds of dvds I’ve never heard of before but would love the watch, a large TV set up at the other side with a sofa directly across from it and a popcorn machine off to the side.
Tears streamed down my face. “You didn’t have to do all this.”
Dean kisses my forehead before smiling down at me. “We wanted to, you deserve the best of everything after what you have been through.”
“Thank you so much.” I sob, completely overwhelmed.
“Do you like it?” He asks, slightly concerned.
“Of course!” I shout, jumping into his arms. “I love it, all of it. It’s amazing!”
“I’m glad you…”
Deans words were cut off when a siren began blaring, people screaming and rushing around outside.
“What is going on?” I ask, covering my ears to protect them.”
Dean said nothing, he only grabbed my hand and began pulling me towards the door as fast as he could, fear evident on his face. What was going on!? What did the siren mean? He dragged me down the stairs just in time to see Zane and the others rushing out the door.
“Vampires are attacking!”
My heart plummets into my bare feet at the words just screamed as people rush around in utter panic. Vampires were attacking the pack! We had to do something! I turned to Dean who’s eyes were wide with shock and fear, informing me that they hadn’t had an attack in a while. It was a complete shock and no one is prepared. People are running around screaming and shouting, some shifting while others grabbed guns and stakes from a locker.
I waited a few seconds to see if Dean would do anything, but it was clear he was in some sort of shock, so instead of waiting any longer I yanked my hand back and rushed outside as fast as I could. I had to help them, no matter what these were meant to be my people too, I was going to become the Luna wolf. That was a big responsibility in my eyes. Bigger than I ever expected to have!
“We’ve got this.” Nyx tells me with a growl. “Use our abilities against them. Protect the pack.”
She was right, we had to protect the people from those bloodsuckers, I had seen a few while I was a slave and they were rarely kind creatures, rarely merciful. They didn’t tend to take prisoners.
The vampires attacked everything insight, including the children that run around screaming for their parents, only angering me further. I had to stop them, all of them. Nyx Was right beside me, helping me in ways that no one else could as we rushed right into the fight, ready to take the as many down as we could.
The first vampire I came across was attacking a teenage girl, attempting to drain her dry as she struggled, thrashing against him. I called upon my power, pushing it forward as fast as I could and the vampire was flung backwards, his body sailing through the air faster than the eye could see. He landed in a position that broke his neck, but I knew it wouldn’t keep him down long. I quickly grabbed a stake from the girl and rushed towards him, striking him directly through the heart.
The vampire turned to ashes right before my eyes, vanishing into the wind as if he had never been there to start with. I moved onto the next one I saw and shattered every bone in his body as I launched him against a large oak tree, once again piercing his heart with a stake.
“It’s the girl we came for!” Shouted one of the beasts, “grab her.”
It only took me a second To realise they were talking about me and I was ready to fight back, four vampires surrounded me, blocking my path of escape. Though not that I needed one. I called upon my power than before, throwing all four at once each one going in a different direction to the last. I approached the first one and stabbed him through the heart, not giving him a chance to fight back. I couldn’t afford to, most were faster than me.
When I approached the second he was struggling to get back to his feet, his eyes ablaze with fury. “He never warmed us you had powers! How dare that warlock bastard use us!” He shouted furiously.
“He will never get me again.” I smiled, pinning the vampire to the ground with my power as I struck him through the chest with the pointed wood.
By the time I had killed the third one, the fight was over, the last of the vampires retreating out of pack lands. I went to find my mates, hoping that none of them were hurt, and to my relief they were all fine and waiting for me with wide smiles.
“You did well my strong warrior.” Joked Alexander as he pulled me in for a hug.
“How many did we lose?” I ask, dreading the answer.
