Chapter 83

I look around at all of the wolves present, some already transformed and ready to go. I know now that we have a chance to do this, that we can if we work as a team.
I howl at the top of my lungs and then face everyone present once more, gaining all of their attentions at once.
"we have a real chance to change the world today..." I shout, Matthew coming to my side whilst my other mates continued to prepare weapons. "We are doing this for our future and for the future of all the children and babies of our kind." Growls and shouts break out, all of them agreeing. "Together we will fight through the vampires and kill every warlock in sight!"
They begin to chant my name, but what they don't realise is that today I am not myself, today I am the decendent of the moon godddess herself, today I am the Red wolf and we are the ones that will change the world.
every man and woman present will fight along side me, and some of them will die, more than I or them realise .
but that is the risk we are taking to secure a future that we want and need.
"it's time to move out!" I shout, "now is the time to fight!"
More howls and growls of agreement fill the area and I know for a fact that each one Of them is going to do their absolute best to take down as many of our enemy as they can. Even if they die doing it.
I also know for a fact that I will do the same, NYx and I we're ready to die for this cause, and whilst I was afraid moments before now, I know that with her help I can do anything.
I was certain that the moon godddess was looking down on us, that she condoned what we are about to do. She would be proud. Succeed or fail. We had to try.
Matthew takes my hand as we all start to move out, some filling into cars and trucks whilst others preceded to stay in wolf form to guard the convoy.
I turn and look back at my mates, knowing that we were doing the right thing. We had to be.
"I've never been more proud of you and what you have overcome." Matthew whispers, kissing the side of my head.
"I still have a long way to go." I reply.
"yes you do, but you don't have to do it alone, you have all of us here with you." Zane smiles, kissing the other side of my head.
"I couldn't ask for better mates to take into battle with me, I love you all." I smile sadly, knowing this may be our last day together.
"we love you too Annalise, but remember that if we all work together we can accomplish anything. You need to let us help where we can." Alex says, playing the wooden stakes into a bag.
"and also that we are also strong and can look out for ourselves, you don't need to be looking for us as we'll be right by your side the entire time." Matthew adds.
"I am grateful for you all and I know that we can do this together." I sigh, "we have to remain strong, no matter what happens, no matter who we lose."
"we either win or die, those are our options, we already know." Drax nods, confirming that they all know that this could be a one way trip.
"let's get going, we have a warlock to kill."
It took a while to get to Balthazar's land, and what we didn't expect were the amount of wolves present that were chained to wooden poles outside his mansion. Dean included.
I wanted nothing more than to run up and free them all, but their were warlocks and vampires blocking my path. Each one of them ready for a fight.
the wolves around me screamed and howled their battle cries and set off running into the enemy, biting and scratching. Those that remained in human form and only partially transformed held wooden stakes and spears to take down the vampires.
I screamed my own battle cry and pulled away from my mates, jumping into the grey of battle and using my powers against those who dared to attack me.
The metallic smells of blood filled my nose as I took down a vampire, staking him through the chest, howls and screams filling the air as the battle waged. The fading screams of the vampires as they riped from existence once the stake pierced their dead hearts. The dust and ash they leave behind clinging to the air like death clung to them in their undead forms.
I saw Matthew from the corner of my eyes, rushing a vampire head on and tackling it to the ground, shoving the steak through its head first to render it useless before landing to deadly blow to the heart. Immediately afterwards he rushed towards another one, one that had a young wolf by its throat and steaked it from behind, saving the young wolfs life.
Drax was to my left, helping an injured wolf back to its feet and out of the way as I cried out once more, the power I felt within me oozing out and flinging ten vampires across the clearing as they all rushed for me at once.
The battle was bloody and it had only just begun, I could see Balthazar using his powers to kill my people, each last cry of a dying wolf splitting my heart into a thousand pieces. I wanted to help them, save them, but the only way to do that was to win and that was still a long way off.
I rushed further into the battle as ash flew and mixed with the blood of my kind, it was like a red mist against the sky, positing the air and sticking to skin and fur, my arms coated in the dead. It was a reminder of all the lives that were being taken, a very real reminder of the dead.
I propelled myself into an unsuspecting creature and plunged my stake through its heart before spinning in a tight circle and stabbing another in the back. It all seemed like a blur, I was taking the lives of these creatures so mercilessly but I knew that if I didn't they would do the same to us.
I couldn't allow myself to be merciful when they would show our kind none, I had to be as heartless as they were undead.
alexander rushed towards me as I fought, protecting my back as I concentrated on those in front of me, I used my gift to fling another vampire away from me and into the waiting jaws of a wolf, the wolf ripping its head of in one clean and fast movement. The vampire dissipating before my eyes.
"Balthazar is taking us down way before we get to him." One of the wolves cried out, running back into the battle he was just flung from.
I turned to look and sure enough no one could get close to the warlock, and those who tried met with a very brutal end.
Balthazar was snapping every bone in their body simultaneously and killing them slowly as he broke the neck last. Yet all this was in the blink of an eye. He was good, better than I thought he would be, but that wouldn't stop me, or anyone else.
we came here to kill him and that's exactly what we were going to do, our people would be his slaves no more
I pushed as much of my power forward as I could and three Balthazar backwards into the stone walls of his home, his eyes finding mine amongst the chaos.
"you are all going to die." He told me mentally, and any other time I would have believed him.
yet, looking round at the wolves fighting together and tearing through the vampires at the speedthey were, I knew we could do this. I knew that we could win.
the warlock was just trying to frighten me, trying to make me surrender , only that would never happen, it was win or die for us and we were prepared for both.
I was going to kill the warlock and set every wolf free.
Either that or I would die trying.
Those were my only options.
