Chapter 73
I stand there shocked, not knowing what to say, I knew that Balthazar would go to certain lengths to get me back, but this? I could never have expected him to go to every warlock he knows in order to trap me.
what were we going to do? We wouldn't be able to fight that many of them, no matter how many we had in the pack. We would lose.
I walked backwards until I hit a chair and flopped into it, utterly defeated and terrified, I didn't know how we were going to get through this. How could we survive an attack of this magnitude?
"I'm going to end up a slave." I whisper, throwing my head into my hands.
"I'd die before I let you go back to that Annalise." Zane murmurs, kneeling down in front of me as gently kissing my head. "We will fight them."
"we can't win." I whisper, tears forming in my eyes. "What will happen to our children?"
matthew came to kneel next to Zane, his voice soft. "We'll make it through this love, nothing will happen to our children, we will protect them."
"While that's a sweet sentiment, we can't be sure we will survive, not against both wolves and warlocks." Alexander hesitated to say as he took a seat, his mind erratic and panicked.
"I may have an idea." Drax pipes up, moving further into the kitchen.
"why should we listen to you?" Dean growled, blocking his path when he tried to get closer to me.
"you might not like me or what I have done, but you should listen." He says, waiting for Dean to calm down before he continued. "I have a large army, more than what any of you do. We could work as a team, try and get other packs on our side."
"how do we know that other packs will fight?" Zane asks, "it's a lot to ask them."
I watch Drax, knowing what he's hinting at. "Because you have me to bargain with them, I can do things for the packs that others couldn't. Balthazar is trying to use my power, why don't we first? Beat hun to it."
"that's too dangerous, we won't risk the babies." Matthew snaps, crossing his arms in defiance.
"then we'll all die. She is the only thing that will keep us alive." Drax snarls, "don't be stupid and back out because she is pregnant, we can mention that to the packs and tell them she can help once the babies are born."
I stand, knowing it may be our only chance. "What do you suggest we offer to the packs in order for them to help?"
Drax turns to me, smirking slightly as he talks. "we can build alliances, say that we will help with future attacks from vampires and rogues, even warlocks if that is what they ask for. I know some northern packs have run ins with warlocks regularly."
I nod my head, but befor I can speak; Dean interjects. "You can't seriously be considering this! after everything this bastard up toyu through."
"yeah I know." I snap back, sick of his attitude. "But he is the only one with a plan. Do you want our children to die?!"
"No of course not!" Dean shouts, slamming the door as he leaves the kitchen.
"don't you think you were a bit harsh there love?" Matthew asks, watching me warily.
"no, I don't. I'm not someone who can be controlled, not anymore and that is something he's trying to do. I won't allow it." I snarl, taking a deep breath to calm myself down. "But if this is our only chance, I'm going to take it. I will be saving our children not risking them and he needs to see that."
Drax nods, seeming pleased with himself, though I couldn't worry about that now. "We can start today if you'd like? Send out some emails and make some calls?" He suggests, looking around the room for confirmation.
I think for a moment, wondering if that would be for the best, we couldn't leave it much longer, not with Balthazar already having god knows how many on his side. We couldn't afford to caught without enough people to fight with.
"Do you really think we can trust him?" Nyx asks, the worry clear in her voice.
"no. But right now we have the same goal to survive, so we have to work together." I reply, knowing that we can't trust him, not with anyone. "For now we have to play nice and be cooperative."
"I hope you know what you are doing." She growls.
"me too."
