Chapter 55
We walked back to the dining room in silence once it was time for lunch, my heart racing the entire time as the thought of seeing Drax again, I didn't want to like him. I didn't want to be anywhere near him, but something inside of me called for him. Perhaps it was the mate bond, it had a strange way of pulling people together. Even when that was the last thing you wanted.
I spotted him already in his seat, watching me as I entered, his eyes lingering on my chest where the dress was cut low. He smiles and motions for me to come to him when his beta let go of my arm, I walked toward him slowly, purposely swinging my hips a little.
I needed to get on his good side if I was ever going be allowed to have my wolf back, let alone my powers. I had to play the game of being a good mate, to the best of my ability. I had to make him believe that I wanted to be with him, that I was willing to behave.
but I also couldn't let him suspect anything, if he did I would be in more trouble than I already was, my heart thumped recklessly in my chest as I took my seat. Keeping my head low and my mouth shut, believing thsh it was best to let him start talking first, men seemed to live that. Especially these ones.
"what have you been doing so far today?" He asked me, using his hand to make me look at him as he placed it under my chin and pulled.
"we watched a movie, I think it was called Tangled. It was pretty good." I told him, forcing a smile. "What about you?"
"just work, things you don't need to worry about." He chuckles, shaking his head slightly. "I'm glad you enjoyed the film." He adds in a soft voice.
"thank you." I say softly, my shoulders tense.
Drax's smile widens, clearly liking my new attitude. "I hope you are hungry, we have a big lunch planned, it's to celebrate your arrival here. People are excited to finally have a Luna."
I knew right away that he was testing me, trying to see if I would crack under his words, I had to think of something and fast. I didn't want him to get suspicious.
"I don't think I'm ready for that..." I whisper, faking fear and confusion. "I-I haven't been here thsh long... I need time."
"Time for what? You are my mate and their Luna." He growls slightly, his patience wearing thin. "I suggest you take the time you need fast because next week we are holding your initiation."
"my what?" I gasp, all pretence gone.
He picks up his fork, digging into the food on his plate. "Your initiation into the pack, we can't afford for you to be an outsider for more than necessary."
"I .... I'm not ready." I murmur, dropping my fork onto the table.
"You don't have a choice, Red." He snarls, slamming his fist against the table.
I jumped back, knocking the chair I was sat in over as I took a step back, my fear spiking as he turned to look at me, his eyes pitch black.
"I didn't mean anything wrong by it..." I murmur, taking another step back when he growls again. "I'm sorry!" I try to defend myself.
Drax pushed away from the table, saying nothing as he stalked towards me, the rest of the room completely silent as they watched. Panic began to squeeze my chest, making it hard to breath as he grabbed both my shoulders and slammed me into the wall, my breath shuddering on impact. A white hot agony shot through my spine as he held me there, his shoulders heaving in anger.
"I .... I'm sorry Alpha." I whisper, hoping that it would calm him down.
"Do I need to teach you another lesson Annalise? Do I need to show you who you belong to?" He snaps loud enough for the entire house to hear, digging his enlongsted claws into my shoulders. "Do I?"
"N-no sir." I whimper, lowing my head and showing my neck in submission.
"who do you belong to Annalise?!" He asks whisky viciously slamming me back into the wall.
"you!" I cry, tears slipping from my eyes. "I belong to you."
He throws me against the ground and takes a step back, watching me as he attempts to calm himself down, his shoulders physically shaking with fury.
"Take her to my room." He orders some of the guards, each one jumping forward to follow his command.
im thrown over the shoulder of a guard and escorted from the room, my heart continuing to race. How could he jump from one mood to the next so quickly? How will I ever get used to his cruelness?
the guard drops me outside of the door to Drax's bedroom, watching me as I tremble in place.
"You better go inside miss, I don't know what he'll do if he finds you out here." The guard whispers, looking around as he keeps his voice low.
"I can't do this." I whisper back, shaking my head. "I can't live like this."
"You have to hold on miss, Alpha Matthew will come for you." He whispers close to my ear, watching the hall in panic.
"what?" I ask, lifting my head to gaze into his greenish blue eyes. "What did you just say."
"I can't say anymore. Please just stay safe. He's coming." He told me, Turing around to walk down the hall as if nothing happened.
I quickly enter the bedroom and shut the door, did I hear hun right? Matthew was going to come get me, I would be free if I could just hold on; if I followed the rules and stayed out of trouble.
I can do this. I told myself as I laid down on the bed to cry, I can hold on.
come soon Matthew.
please don't leave me here.
