Hattie is different from Jayde

Chapter thirty-six
Ryder
It's six days since we've been looking for Hattie Everett. I can't say what had happened but something is wrong somewhere.
I don't know why I keep having this feeling that Hattie left herself. Like she's somewhere listening to the news but doesn't want to come out.
Well, Hattie can be like that. I heard the news that she once stopped going to school for two weeks and no one knew where she went to.
Later on, her parent found her in a hotel and suite. She has this way of doing things. Though, I don't know if it makes any sense to her.
On a second note, could she be in danger?
Gosh! I don't even know what to think again. My mom isn't even picking up my calls. I wonder what dad told her.
And I can't even go to work. Dad said I must never step foot inside his company if I can't find Hattie.
I've decided to start my company but then I had to stop. What will people say about me? Won't they think am heartless? Starting a business while my wife is nowhere to be found.
I'm in a dilemma and I don't know what to do. I've been thinking over and over about it.
My phone rings, suddenly jerking me out of my thought. I sigh and pick it up.
"Hello, Rose."
"Hi, bad boy," she teases and I laugh, "Why are you so down? Guess what? I have something interesting to show you."
If Rose tells me that, she does have something interesting. Something that might make my day or keep me shocked for several minutes.
It was when she found out that my father was staying with a mistress abroad and telling Mom he was at work.
I was shocked that day.
Or when Weston refused to go out with us. He told us he has some assignments to attend to.
Eventually, Rose discovered he was with one of the Ayles' sexiest. I laughed so much that day.
I sigh, "Where are you?"
"I will send you the address. If you come late, I will kill you," then the line went off.
I laugh again. Rose is something else seriously. And I fear for the man that would marry her. Sometimes, there's no way to know if she's really angry.
I change clothes. I'm now wearing a hoodie and blue jeans.
The message came through almost immediately and it's a restaurant that's nearby
I drive straight to it quickly. When I walk in, Rose wasn't anywhere to be found.
As I was about to dial her line, a lady walk up to me, "Miss Rose is in the VIP room. Follow me."
I follow her quietly for a while till she walks to a door and opens it for me. I walk inside.
Rose looks up at me, then I realize she's looking past me, at the lady, "I want everything on menu 4."
The lady turns to me as I sit, "And you sir?"
"Same as hers."
She nods with a smile and walks out.
I turn back to Rose, "So, what's happening?"
She smiles, "I found something very interesting. It will probably keep you shocked for several minutes."
" And what can that be? " I was curious too. If Rose is sure I would get shocked, then I probably would.
" I've found the lady you asked me to," she says excitedly.
I scoff, "Was that why you said I would be shocked?"
" Will you listen? ' she says thickly, a bit annoyed.
I nod severally, "Alright."
"Yes, I've found where she works."
I nod uninterested, " She works at the bar. I met her there yesterday."
Rose raises a brow amazingly, " Did you meet her? Did you see her face? Did you speak to her privately?"
I sigh, "Why will I speak with a bar mistress privately? I have more pride than that."
She hit me by the arm slightly, " You are dumb sometimes."
"Jeez, what!" I scream at her. Is she a friend or a bully?
"What I'm asking is that, was she with a face mask? Or were you able to see her face?" She shakes her head slightly and looks away, " I doubt that. If you had, you would have understood what I'm talking about," she whispers and looks up at me again, " She was wearing a nod mask right?"
I don't know what she's mumbling so much about. But then, I remember she was the only one using a facemask. And she didn't remove it.
I found that suspicious and I kept looking at her. But then, I also figure she kept looking at me with those eyes that speak differently. But I wasn't concerned because I do get lots of that from lots of ladies.
I nod slowly, "Yes, she wears a mask. What's about it?"
She giggles excitedly and I wonder what is going on in her head. Is she about to tell me how Declan fell in love with her or what?
Well, the lady has a nice shape and I'm sure that was what Declan fell for.
"What if I tell you that is Hattie Everett?"
I laugh, "You are very funny. How can that one be Hattie?"
Then I remember when I touched her hand, I clearly saw her shiver, and then she had a good relationship with that guy, Jayden. The man I saw her hug that night.
I look at Rose again, "What! Are you sure?"
She shakes her head slightly, "She's not Hattie Everett but she looks like her."
"What?"
That's impossible. I watch her bring out some pictures and papers.
I pick the pictures first. It's Hattie, entering a detached house. One is her hugging an older woman.
"That woman is her mother. Her father died a long time ago."
I pick another one of her removing the face mask.
Wait! I don't get this! This is Hattie.
I pick the paper next and stare at Hattie in a different uniform.
"That's Jayde's in high school. I'm sure you know Hattie studied abroad."
I look up at her, waiting to hear more.
"Jayde doesn't wear a face mask. And well, the manager accords her with respect. I've heard her call her Hattie and she responded. If Jayde can start wearing a facemask now, then something is wrong somewhere."
And that was when it hit me. Hattie isn't the one I had a wedding with, it was Jayde!
