What is happening? And why are they all here? And why did he just smile at me? What about the credit alert I just received?
Or am I dreaming?
I zoom in on the message so I will be able to see it. And it's truly one million dollars.
I'm confused right now. What's happening?
"Hattie my darling!" Beatrice calls suddenly.
I look down at her. Henry is beside her. He also looks up and smiles at me
He beckons me over. I drag my feet down the stairs towards her.
I stop before her and thought of what to do.
Before I could do anything, she pulls me into a tight hug, "I'm so happy you are alright. I'm so happy."
I stay shocked and speechless at the same time. When she pulled back, I only nodded as I was too incoherent to say a word.
I don't even know when they entered. And my mom wants me to come back home. What will I do if she gets upset again? She's the only one I have and I can't afford to lose her love.
"Hattie my daughter," Mr. Everett says and walks nearer, "Can I see you at a corner?" It seemed like a request but I was suddenly being pulled out.
I'm even too confused to stop myself or to protest. Though, I wonder what he wanted to say.
I turn to him, "I just saw a credit alert," I found my voice at last.
He looks at me for a while, a bright smile on his face, "Yes, I sent it. It's for compensation. I know you are doing this for us at your inconvenience and I appreciate it. That money was just to express me very well."
That means Hattie is still in the hospital. When is she even going to wake up? Gosh, she should stop making it all hard for me.
"Is your daughter still in the hospital?"
He nods briefly, " I don't know when she will wake up. She's currently in a deep sleep," he looks away and sobs silently.
I feel pity for him. Well, I should help him.
"I will help you if you can do me a favor because my mom wants me to come back."
He looks up at me again, " I will help you in any way that I can. Just tell me what you want."
I think I know what I'm going to do. I'm going to tell mom Hattie has recovered and is back.
"Can you let me work in your company? I won't come over. I just need something that will show I'm a secretary. So, if I don't come home in days, my mom wouldn't be bothered."
I'm going to tell her I got employed in Mr. Everett's company.
"Wow!" His eyes sparkle up, "That's a great idea! I will prepare all you need."
I smile and bow slightly, glad he understands.
"Let's go back in then," he says and gently walks me back inside.
The first person I see is Henry, staring at me with a kind of expression I'm not familiar with.
I wonder what is in his head.
Mercy walks to me and I fold my hands as I watch her. She becomes sober and pulls me into a hug instead.
"I'm so grateful for this. Thank you so much," she says to my ears before pulling away, " I will come and visit you very often so you don't feel lonely," she says, looking as happy as ever.
I smile, " you must come?" I feign seriousness.
She laughs, "Cross my heart!"
I look to my side and catch Henry staring again. This time, he looks away.
I wonder what is wrong. I wonder why he kept on staring.
My phone vibrates again and I look at the screen.
It's another one million dollars credit alert.
My heart stop briefly only for it to resume again, then it went higher than normal.
I look up and catch Mercy looking at me. She winks and goes to Beatrice.
I can't believe this! I can't believe I'm two million dollars rich!
I want to scream but I can't do that now! OMG! I'm so grateful I decided to come back.
If I hadn't, the first money they gave me would have finished after buying a house. How would I and my mom feed?
But with this money, we will be able to live the life of luxury that we deserve.
Why didn't I think of it earlier? OMG!
I spread my arms in the air and lookup. How great is the Lord?

I'm going to do this. I'm going to be back to this work. Nothing says more than this. A day old and I'm already filled with money.
What if I get more money? OMG! I will soon be a millionaire.
