The Country Club
We met up with dad’s lawyer at our appointment time. I had another surprise when the lawyer handed me a ten page document to read. After I finished reading it I looked at my father with tears in my eyes. He has been investing money for me since my birth and now I have over a hundred million dollars in this account. He was signing over the account and funds to me. The tears flowed out of my eyes. He got up from his chair and walked over to me and ripped away my tears, with his thumbs. “ There is no need to cry sweetheart, you were always my baby girl and I will always make sure you are taken care of.” He pulled me from my seat and gave me a hug while rubbing my back to comfort me and I leaned into his hug for the first time. “ Thank you, dad.” I said looking into his eyes and now he had tears in his eyes. After our moment of bonding we sat back down and the lawyer explained the ownership documents from grandma Bernice. I also signed the documents accepting ownership of a quarter of the company.
Dad and I agreed to keep all this from old man Cole, because we didn’t want to give him a heart attack. Plus grandma might still decide to stay married to him in the end. I also told my dad to continue managing my investment account, I was happy when he said yes. When we left the lawyer’s office we went to the country club for a game of tennis or rocket ball. We are going to flip a coin to decide which game we will play when we get there. When we entered the main entrance of the club, we saw Mr Holloway and his grandson Justin. We pretended not to see them and continued on our way to the locker rooms. Unfortunately for us, they were not pleased with our decision to ignore them and decided to stop us. I let out a breath, because I was not in the mood to be bothered with these people. “ Don’t you think you owe us an apology young lady?” asked Mr Holloaway. So much for ignoring them. “ Daniel my daughter doesn’t owe anyone an apology, if anything your grandson owes my daughter the apology for all the rude disgusting things he said about her.” I am really starting to like Ethan a lot more lately. He was defending my honor, how sweet. He is not so spineless after all and it looks good on him.
The next thing we heard was Justin's voice “ No wife of mine will ever get an apology from me, especially since all I did was voice my opinion. Get that pipe dream out of your head. You should be very grateful that I have even agreed to marry your daughter, instead of standing here disrespecting my grandfather.” I looked at him from head to toe, “Who the hell do you think you are, boy? If anyone is having a pipe dream it's you. I never agreed to marry your spoiled sorry ass in the first place. You and your grandfather can go straight to hell and shove that marriage arrangement up your asses on your way to hell.” I took my father’s hand and walked away from the two fools. “ You will be sorry for what you just said and I will make sure you pay for it. Your grandfather will hear about this.” Old man Holloway said, while we were walking away from them. We kept walking as if they were not speaking to us. They really believed that old man Cole could tell me what to do. I am going to love disappointing them in the end.
The coin landed on heads and we played rocket ball, which was very fitting for our current mood. “ Let’s picture their faces when we hit the ball.” I said and he laughed. I was being very serious and everytime I hit the ball I pictured Justin's face. That arrogant little shit, he better hope we never meet again especially without our parents. I am going to stuff his words back down his throat. “ It makes sense why old man Cole and Daniel are such good friends, they’re both the same.” Dad nodded his head and we continued playing our game. After cleaning up we decided to have dinner at the club before going home. Apart from running into the Holloway’s, we had a good time together. I saw a few ladies around dad’s age and I pointed them out to him and he kept laughing at me. Maybe he thought I was joking when I told him I wanted him to start dating. Since I was on summer break, I decided to spend the rest of my summer in the city. This way I can spend more time getting to know my dad and grandma Bernice. I will also use this time to help him find a nice lady he could settle down with. Plus, I am also looking forward to spending more time getting to know Kyle. That thought put a huge smile on my face.
