A Fragile Situation

He was looking at her as if she had two heads. I guess he couldn’t believe she was talking to him in this manner. She wasn’t yelling at him, but her voice was firm and she looked him into the eyes while telling him what he was going to do. He is not liking what she is saying because his eyebrows are raised with a frown on his face. “ Dad, you can’t ruin our family like this. Just accept the responsibility for your mistakes and let's try to get everything resolved with the Hayes family.” My father said trying to be the peacemaker, but grandpa still looks very upset. “ I will not be apologizing to that girl and there is nothing to settle with the Hayes family. Cole and I have a deal and this family will not back out of any deal I already agreed to.” Oh hell, this is not going to end well. Why is he so stubborn? Grandma started shaking her head and said “ Okay Daniel, have it your way. You’ll be hearing from my attorney.” Then she got up and left the room. My father stood up and looked at his father and asked “Seriously, dad?”
Then we left him and his lawyer in the room. I don’t like anything about that bitch Kadian but she is right about one thing: both old men are crazy. This man is willing to lose his family over something so trivial, who in their right mind will do that? I wonder if grandma was serious about getting an attorney, maybe once she has a chance to cool down, she will change her mind. Today’s meeting was the worst one so far and I don’t know if our family will be the same after this. Even if grandma changed her mind about divorcing grandpa, I don't see how their relationship could stay the same. He was really disrespectful to her today and I know she was hurt when he kept dismissing her feelings and opinions.

When we got home my sister Heather was in the living room waiting to hear how the meeting went. When she saw our faces when we walked into the house, she knew it didn’t go well. “ Where is grandpa?” she asked and both dad and grandma made a grunting noise and kept walking. Mom and I stopped in the living room and sat down. Mom looked at my sister and said, “ sweetie it did not go well and there are some additional issues that we weren’t aware of. These issues are going to affect the family greatly.” Heather looked at me with confusion on her face. “ It turned out grandpa and Mr Hayes made a bet about marriage with someone else. They wagered forty percent of their shares in the company if the marriage didn’t happen.” she looked even more confused now. “ Wh..What are you talking about?” she could wrap her head around what she was hearing.
Mom and I told her everything that happened and she had no words at first. She was equally angry that grandpa did something so stupid and then tried to blame everything on me. My sister and I are twins and we are very close, so she didn’t appreciate grandpa’s attitude or behavior. She also couldn’t believe that grandma was part owner of the company all this time. That was really a big surprise for all of us at the time, because she never asked anything about the company. She never once showed any interest in what was going on at the company. “ So what is going to happen now? Since they’ve to give up forty percent and now they each only have five percent, who is going to run the company? Will we be able to buy back the share from that person? Can we even afford to buy the shares back?” she had a scared look on her face and I don’t blame her.
I am going to talk to dad about all this once he has settled down a little.I have a feeling he has no idea what is going to happen now. Since grandpa refuses to give up on this marriage thing, I am sure he will refuse to discuss any corrective actions for our current situation. “ We don't know what is going to happen yet sweetie, everyone in the meeting was very upset when we found out about the bet. Nothing was able to be ironed out about what the next step for the company or its future. Your grandpa refuses to call it quits about the marriage contract and he also refuses to take responsibility for his actions. Your grandma might divorce him, because he refuses to back down and apologize. He is being very stubborn about this whole thing. Mr Hayes is going to sue his granddaughter to try and force her to marry your brother. The other issue is Ms Hayes and your brother hates each other. Ms Hayes also already has a fiance that she brought to the meeting today.” Hell I had forgotten about her being engaged to that prick.
