Bonding & Confessions Of Love
I was so proud to be his daughter at this moment and tears fell from my eyes. This is the second time he made me cry in two weeks, before that the last time I cried was at my mom’s funeral. Even though these tears are happy tears, crying still makes me feel gullible and weak. I got up and hugged him for dear life. “ Thank you” I said softly, before sitting back down. We talk about what he is going to do now with so much time on his hands. I was secretly thinking now he will have a lot of time to go on dates. “ I will take the summer off, so I can spend more time with you. Plus I need to give this lawsuit my undivided attention even though it’s baseless and stupid.” I shook my head “ Does he really intend on going through with this madness? There was no contract between us, so how does he really intend to win? He has no proof of anything, he has never once called me.” I really think dad was on to something when he said something else was going on with this marriage arrangement. “ Dad, do you think it will be possible to find out more about the arrangement from old man Holloway? Was the agreement between them written or was it just verbal? They’re both acting too overzealous about this marriage. I really think there is something bigger at play that we don’t know about. And I find that a little unnerving to be honest.”
He put his drink down. “ I will have my lawyer contract Daniel to schedule a meeting to discuss it and see if we could get some more information. I am not sure he will cooperate with us especially after the incident at the club, but I will try. But to be honest sweetheart I don’t care about any secrets they’re hiding under no circumstance will I let you participate in an arranged marriage. Now that I think about it honey let’s just leave that alone and focus on the lawsuit. If we start poking our noses in their business they might think we are reconsidering the marriage.” he said and his logic makes a lot of sense “ you’re right dad, let's stay out of their business and just focus on ourselves." Since I was not going to marry Justin I shouldn’t be wasting my time thinking or investigating anything about the contract.
My dad headed home and I took a cab to Lisa’s house. We had a great time putting on a fashion show for each other. Sometimes we still act like we are in high school, but it's so much fun to goof off sometimes. After what felt like the millionth outfit we found a winner. Then we started talking about the plan her mother had for the party. Her mom planned to make the party a black tie event. This means all guests will dress to impress, so we planned to pop her heads in the party that night to be nosy. We had dinner together and then I headed home. I wanted to see if I could beat dad in a game of chess. I have lost every game we have played so far, but I refused to give up. After losing another two games to dad, we called it a night.
Once I got to my room I took a shower and called Kyle for our regular nightly catch up session. Even though we’ve known each other for a short period of time, I can’t remember what I used to do before bed now. His voice calms me down, God is it possible to fall in love with someone so soon? We haven’t known each other for a full week yet. “ Do you think it is possible to fall for someone in a few days?” His words brought me out of my thoughts. “ Why do you ask that?” I replied “ I just can’t get you off my mind. I haven’t stopped thinking about you since we first met and I don’t know what to do about these feelings. I have never felt this way about someone before.” I was not expecting to hear such a revelation, so I was speechless for a few seconds. Before I could gather my thoughts he spoke again. “ I am sorry to drop all this on you at once. I hope what I said won’t scare you away. I just wanted you to know that I am serious about dating you exclusively.”
I couldn’t stop smiling. “ You might not believe me, but I feel the same way about you. I was starting to think I was losing my mind, because I haven’t even known you for that long. Maybe we have been breathing too much of the city air, I think the bad air might be messing with our senses.” I hear him laughing and it sounds so good. When did I become this person that thinks a guy's laugh is music to my ears? Maybe this mess with old man Cole is clouding my judgment. “ How about next week we leave the city for a few days? We will get some fresh air, while laying on the beach in the Hamptons. What do you think? We can invite Lisa and Thomas to come along as well.” I fell right into that one and now I am laughing at myself. I have to give him some credit, that was a really good idea. I don’t have anything planned for next week, so why the hell not? “ That sounds like a great plan to me. I think we should let Thomas invite Lisa, she would love that.” he laughed “ He has had this huge crush on her since middle school. She was our buddy’s little sister, so he kept his distance.” Now I am the one laughing “ Do you want to hear something funny?” I asked him, but I didn’t give him a chance to respond when I said “ She has had the same crush on him since then too. She thought he was into girls with fake boops and bleached blond hair” he burst out laughing, when I said that.
