The Holloways
I really don’t want to be in another meeting about this stupid arranged marriage with that bitch Kadian. Sitting at the table across from her, all I can think about is ripping that smirk off her face. I still haven’t taken revenge for Sara yet. I am going to make sure that she and that prick beside her pay for what they did. I really don’t understand why grandpa keeps insisting on this marriage. I already told him and my parents that I hate that bitch and want nothing to do with her. Why can’t I just marry Sara, her family is rich too if that is what they’re worrying about. Grandpa's lawyer started talking and the more he spoke the angrier I became. Those two fucking old man must have lost their minds, how could they make such a bet? And why in hell did grandpa pay a ten million dollar dowry? This is not the eighteen hundreds, this is modern times, who the fuck does things like that anymore? Plus that bitch isn’t worth a penny.
My father is such a coward, why does he just sit in these meetings and say nothing? He lets grandpa talk to him as if he is a child and mom just falls in line with dad. Sometimes I wish we didn’t have to rely on the old man so much, because look where it gets us. Poor grandma has it the hardest, being married to a man like Daniel Holloway is no easy task. I think this is the first time I have seen her angry at anyone. The old man has crossed her bottom line this time it seems. “ What the hell is your lawyer talking about Daniel? What does he mean when he said you bet someone the marriage would happen regardless? You and I agreed that if the kids didn’t want to get married we would not force them to. You need to explain this to me right now. I cannot believe that you let your stubbornness put our family in this situation. Were you even thinking about the rest of us? Why does everything always have to be what you want or what you think is best? You’re human just like the rest of us and can be wrong sometimes. It is a part of being human.” I have never even heard grandma raise her voice to anyone and here I was thinking she was too submissive.
Dad was also voicing his concerns finally. “ Dad, how could you do this to us? The company is a family business that was supposed to stay in our families. Now what are we going to do? You gave away your shares.” The old man didn’t seem to care about what they’re saying. “ If you had raised your son better and not spoiled him, we wouldn’t be in this mess right now. All he had to do was play nice and marry that girl and the matter would’ve been settled. I never told him to break up with his girlfriend; the marriage would have been on paper only. After ten years of marriage he would have taken over the company. He could’ve divorce her and married that other girl, but no he couldn’t even do that for his family. You raised him to be selfish and spoiled. This is my company and I make all the decisions that I think is best. I don’t need anyone's advice or opinion to make my decisions.” The fucking nerve of this man. “ How is any of this my fault? You were the one who thought of this stupid plan to cheat your best friend and partner out of his company. Now that your plans blow up in your face, it's everyone else's fault but your. That is very convenient, don’t you think grandpa? And just in case you missed it, Kadian refused the arranged marriage as well. So even if I was willing to marry her, she still would’ve refused.”
He had both his hands balled up into fists, staring at me with hatred in his eyes. “ If you didn’t behave so disrespectfully to her at our first meeting, she would’ve not refused you. Plus you kept harassing her every chance you got, so why would she agree to marry a spoiled brat like you, huh? You always just think about what you want and not what’s good for the family. You never looked at the big picture, that was right in front of your nose.” Grandma started laughing and we all looked at her, thinking her timing was weird. “ How dare you blame the mess you created on our grandson. It is not his responsibility to fix what you’ve destroyed Daniel. It is our responsibility to teach and provide for our children and grandchildren. What happened to the man I married? Somewhere along the line you’ve lost your way Daniel and you need to find your way again before it is too late. After today there will be no more talk of arranged marriage and you and Justin will apologize to that young lady. Did you see what this arranged marriage did to the Hayes family? Bernice just gave Cole divorce papers, because of his stubbornness and disregard for his family. Is that what you want to happen to us?” Oh yeah grandma is upset.
