Girls Trip

The next morning the girls came to pick me up, so we could go on our shopping spree. I told them about running into Heather and her so called boyfriend at the garden and they both rolled their eyes. “ She was just using that guy to try and make Kyle jealous, she is truly delusional” Lisa said. Then she continued, “ do you really think she will stop bothering Kyle after all these years? She is obsessed with him and I think he will have to get the law involved. He needs to show her that he is serious about her leaving him alone or else she will never stop.” She does have a point, Heather will not go away on her own. Karen changed the subject to something more pleasant and we started laughing. We started talking about going on a girls trip to Europe for about ten days. We got all excited about it and listed all the places we should visit while we were there. “ What do you think the guys would say about us not taking them along with us?” I asked with a smile. “Shit” soft yelled Karen. I guess she had forgotten about Mark for a minute there.
The day we are meeting my future in-laws has arrived and I was really looking forward to it. We picked up grandma on our way and she was excited to meet Kyle and his family. On the drive to Kyle’s, grandma was telling us how much she loves her new apartment. When we arrived, Kyle happily greeted us at the door. They had a beautiful home. His parents were very welcoming and loving. Everyone greeted us with hugs and the bunch was very pleasant. I really liked them and so did dad. He started talking about golf with Kyle’s father, so they were in their own world. Melisa was there as well and it was good seeing her again.
They invited us over for the fourth of July barbecue and we happily accepted their invitation. On the way home dad told us that the Holloways asked us for another meeting and that old man Cole will be there with his lawyer as well. Grandma said she will be there as well. I didn’t want to go, because I am over this shit. I will be marrying Kyle and I don’t care what happens to those people and their company. “ Dad, I really don’t think it is a good idea to have another meeting about this. And besides, nothing gets resolved at these meetings. I am engaged now and I really don’t want us to waste any more of our time with those people, beating a dead horse." He knew what I said was right, but I could tell he wanted to put an end to this.
The girls and I had a group date with guys. We wanted to tell them together about our European trip. We knew they would not be pleased, but we wanted to try anyway. When we were all settled into our table we just ripped the bandage off and told them about the trip and in unison we got a “ hell no” response. Then Mark said “ There is no way in hell you girls are going on a ten day European trip without us. Period” well he just put us into our place. They didn’t even think about it before turning us down. The girls and I put on sad faces. I rested my head on Kyle’s shoulder pouting my lips looking up with sad eyes. “ That will not work on me. We’re not stopping you girls from going on your trip, but you’re not going alone. So if you guys want to go that bad, you will take us along with you.” I set up straight and pushed his shoulder and everyone started laughing at us.
The following week was the fourth of July celebration. The meeting with the Holloways was this week as well. I told dad that I did not want to participate, because it had nothing to do with me. He tried to sweeten the deal by telling me to bring Kyle along if it would make me feel any better. The morning of the meeting Kyle met us at our apartment and we picked up grandma on the way. We were the last ones to arrive and the old men looked upset already. That should have been the clue that told us that we were in for more tantrums. I don’t think I have ever seen either of them smile before. I sat down with Kyle sitting next to me holding my hand. Mr Holloway was fuming and so was old man Cole. I made sure I rested my left hand on the table, so all of them could see my very large engagement ring.
