Another Disaster Of A Meeting

While we were laying there catching our breath Kyle asked “ were all the meetings like that? How can your grandfather talk to you like that? I have never seen anything like that in my life. And what is up with that outrageous bet, seriously? I knew their behavior was something new to him. Hanging around him and his father I could tell they were well mannered people that treated each other with respect and dignity. “ Yes, the meetings were always like that, because the old men don’t like anyone to tell them no or what to do. In their minds they’re the only ones that can and will make the decisions in their families. So, me refusing to follow the crowd is not going so well with them. From day one I told them that I didn’t believe in arranged marriages and there was no way in hell I was going to participate in their madness. They kept pushing by trying to show how much power they held over their families. I don’t think anyone realized how stubborn the two old men were or would be. Imagine they gave up their marriages for this craziness.”
Kyle shook his head at my words. “ What I find amazing is that old man Cole actually thinks I would give up my life to help him out after how he had treated me and my mother all these years.” Kyle hugged me tighter and kissed me on the top of my head. “ I thought everything he said to you and your grandmother were vile. I never expected a man of his status would behave so disgustingly and un-remorseful. I don’t think you should spend any more time around him unless he changes his behavior. I don’t like the way he keeps verbally abusing you. I know you don’t let what he says upset you, but I still don’t want you to be subjected to his vile temper.” I love the fact that he is trying to protect me from my own family. I looked up at him and pulled him into a kiss.
We were invited to another meeting but this time grandma Bernice and Mrs Holloway were the ones who requested this meeting. Dad and I found it a little strange, but we will be attending nonetheless since grandma was the one who wanted this meeting. I really wish grandma could just tell what she has on her mind, so we wouldn’t have to be in the same room with the Holloway family again. I invited Kyle to come along as well, because these meetings are never without drama and stress. “ Are you kidding me? What is it going to take for them to accept the facts?” All I could do was laugh at his questions. The morning of the meeting everyone was on time except the two old men. I was really hoping that they didn’t show up. Them being late was not a surprise to anyone, since they’re so stubborn and willful to a fault. When they finally showed up they were fifteen minutes late and they both had a snugged smile on their faces. Before grandma’s lawyer could say anything, old man Cole’s lawyer handed grandma a large brown envelope that I think contained the divorce papers. He had signed the papers and added a few changes. After reading the revision she signed it as well. Wow, he really gave up his wife over this marriage arrangement.
Mr Holloway also gave his wife a large brown envelope that contained divorce papers. Maybe they’re secret lovers, because they’re giving up their thirty plus years of marriages for foolishness. I cannot believe that they’re willing to destroy their families over this. I don’t trust them, because they don’t look upset anymore. I am sure they have something up their sleeves. Mrs Holloway gave her husband a very nice smile and then she looked at grandma. Oh shit, it looks like the ladies have something up their sleeves as well. Mrs Holloway took the papers and handed it to her lawyer who read it and nodded his head at her while giving the papers back to her. She took the papers and signed them without even reading them. Mr Holloway was a little surprised by her actions, but he kept up his poker face. I guess he thought she was going to put up a fight for them to stay married, he guessed wrong. After all that was taken care of, everyone sat silently waiting for the lawyers to start the meeting. There was a young lady sitting in the corner of the room typing on a laptop. Grandma Bernice's lawyer turned his head in her direction and said. “ Please ensure the minutes of this meeting reflect the time the divorce agreements were signed by both parties.” Kyle looked at me with a smile. He can see it too, the ladies are up to something. Apart from being annoyed by the old men, these meetings are sometimes very entertaining.
