Lashing Out

While pulling me away Kyle looked at Heather and said “ I will see you in court.” There was a small crowd that had gathered around us, so the guys pulled us through the crowd and we went to a small park close by. Mark came back with a small bag of ice for Melissa's cheek. I was still upset about this whole thing “ Are you sure you didn’t date her in secret? None of this makes any sense, why does she keep following us around and starting trouble. You fucked her didn’t you? Tell me the truth, because none of this makes any sense.” I can see the surprise look on Kyle’s face after I asked my questions. He also looked hurt, but I didn’t care at the moment. This was supposed to be a fun week, but every time we turn around this bitch is in our faces. He must be telling her sweet things behind our backs, to encourage her in some way. That is the only thing that could explain her relentless pursuit for his attention and love.
I stepped away from everyone and took out my phone and called my father. He answered the phone after the third ring. “ Hey sweetheart, How are the Hamptons?” I could hear his friends' voices in the background. “ It is not going so well and I was thinking about leaving later. Listen, I want to file harassment charges against Justin.” I could hear the voices in the background getting lower and I could tell he was walking out of the room. “ Tell me what happened.” I told him everything even about Heather and her stupid ass friends. He let out a sigh and said “ Don’t let them spoil your fun. I will contact my lawyer and ask him to set up a meeting with the Holloways, so we can put an end to all this once and for all.” I could hear the frustration in his voice. We spoke for a few more minutes then ended the call. I turned around and noticed that Kyle was the only one left sitting at the park bench. I walked over to him and sat down. He rubbed his hands together “I am really sorry that you got dragged into this.” he said while waving his hands around. “ I’ve been dealing with this madness for years. I thought that by ignoring her she would get the picture. And no I was not dating her in secret. I never had sex with her, I don’t want anything to do with her.”
I took one of his hands into mine and interlaced our fingers. “ I don’t want to lose you, Kadian. Please don’t let her come between us. I am begging you. If it will make you feel more comfortable, we can leave and go somewhere else just the two of us.” He had this hurt look on his face, which made me feel bad for lashing out at him earlier in front of everyone. None of this is really his fault, plus Justin was also causing trouble. I leaned closer to him and pulled him into a hug “ I am sorry too, I shouldn’t have lashed out on you like that. You can’t be responsible for how other people behave. I will not let them ruin our relationship no matter what.” I released him from the hug and kissed him, long and deep. I wanted him to feel my emotions through our kiss. When we finally broke apart I asked him “ Where did everyone go?” We stood up and started walking back in the direction of the house. “ They went to the bakery and then they were going to head back to the house.” I nodded and we walked back to the house in silence.
When we got to the gate, we could hear music playing in the backyard. We walked into the house and Melissa was sitting in the living room with the ice pack on her cheek. We walked over to her and Kyle sat down next to her and I sat across from them. He took the ice pack from her cheek and looked at her face. “ Does it still hurt?” He asked her. Her cheek was still red and a little swollen. “ Yes, it still hurts a little. Does it look bad?” She asked and I hated that she got hit. “ I will go get you some Advil to help with the pain.” I told them while getting up. I found a first aid kit in the bathroom down the hall and gave her the pills with a bottle of water. “ We haven’t met” she looked at me with a smile. She held out her hand for me to shake and said “ I am Melissa, Kyle younger pain in the neck sister. We’ve heard a lot about you, welcome to the family.” I smiled back at her and took her hand. “ Hi, I am Kadian and it is a pleasure to meet you. Your brother told me a lot about you.” Kyle looked at us and smiled. We sat there talking for a few more minutes. She was actually a nice person now that she wasn’t acting like a spoiled brat. She thanked me for defending her back in town, not knowing it was my genuine pleasure to punch that bitch. In all honesty I should be the one thanking her for giving that opportunity.
