Chapter 12
She closed her eyes for a moment while leaning on the chair.
The door opened but she ignored it because she was exhausted from earlier.
"Did you go out and get some coffee?" Daisy asked.
Alondra opened her eyes and sat up.
"Huh? You gave that to me." Daisy replied confused.
"What do you mean? Only now that I enter here since there are many customers outside. Are you drunk, Alondra? You talking so much." Daisy answered with a laugh.
Alondra raised her head. Clark even made an excuse to approach Daisy.
"Did you happen to know Clark?" Alondra asked.
Daisy has her eyes wide open. As if her question is of any interest to her.
"Why?"
"He gave it to me here, and he said you told him to bring me a coffee because you were still busy," Alondra replied.
"What?"
Daisy laughed and leaned against the wall, her gaze fixed on her.
"What's the big deal about your stares? I'm just telling the truth."
"I didn't order him and then we didn't meet and talk earlier," Daisy replied smiling.
"Damn him," Alondra uttered.
"Why do you know him?" Daisy asked as if she was still amazed by her encounter with Clark.
"A while ago when I came out of the gate, the two of us went together. You suddenly disappeared," answered Alondra.
"What do you think?"
Alondra frowned at Daisy's question.
"Why?"
Daisy laughs.
"How old are you, Alondra? I don't know if you're innocent or if you just don't care." Daisy said.
"I'm not entertaining things like that in my system, Daisy. You know my reason."
"All right, but he's attractive in your opinion, right?" Daisy asked again.
Alondra sighed and rolled her eyes. What is Daisy hoping to hear from her? That she should compliment Clark? She has no desire to be involved with a man right now. She didn't want her life's dreams shattered because of the entertaining opposite sex.
"I'm not sure why you're here," she said as she stood up and took off her apron.
Daisy explained, "I just want to check you out, and we'll go out later because one of our colleagues has a birthday."
Alondra mulls over whether or not to come. She prefers to sleep rather than leave the house to unwind at night because she has work the next day. But it's difficult to say no to Daisy this time because she has already helped and given her so much.
"I promise you'll be safe, and we won't do anything that will cause us harm."
"All right," Alondra replied.
"Great."
The door then opened, and she and Daisy looked in. When their gazes met, Alondra noticed Clark's bright smile. But it vanished when he and Daisy became friends. Daisy raised her eyebrows at Clark, who was standing in the open doorway.
"What are you doing here? Your workplace, as far as I know, is not here," Daisy asked.
Daisy's question made Clark scratch the back of his neck as if he was embarrassed.
Clark replied, "Nothing, I just wanted to know if you guys would come with us later."
"No," Alondra said right away.
"Why?" Clark asked, frowning. "Are you going to do something later after we get off work?"
"Do I need to come?" Alondra asked.
"Yes, so you can breathe in the cold air," he replied, smiling as if his embarrassment at seeing Daisy inside had vanished when she spoke to him.
Daisy seemed to be secretly pleased with the conversation she had with Clark while quietly listening to them. Clark is taken aback by Alondra's laughter. He just kept staring at her.
"Are you going to stand there or leave? The other employees might think we're just here gossiping during work hours. I'm fed up with the cold air in our province."
"Nothing. I was stunned by your laugh; you laugh so hard, and I recently discovered that you are very beautiful," Clark replied.
Alondra fell silent, and her laughter vanished. She rose and drank some water. Clark's words caught her off guard. She doesn't want a man to approach her and say things like this to her. She didn't talk to him anymore to get him to stop, but she only recently discovered that he has such habits. Because she didn't have many male and female friends, the father was the only man he knew in their neighborhood. Clark then left
because she was hushed Daisy thought she was going out, but she didn't.
Daisy inquired, "Are you okay, Alondra? You seemed to have gone quiet."
"Yeah, my stomach pain came back," Alondra said, trying to change the subject.
"All right, rest for a moment there, and I'll go out and back to the counter."
"Okay."
When the door opened and his secretary walked in, Leandre was preoccupied with paperwork that needed to be signed.
"Please excuse me for a moment, sir."
"Sure, what is it?" he asked.
"Sir, you have a visitor."
"Who?"
Leandre wonders who will visit him. His mother dislikes going to the office. He would never forget the old man who entered, even if he was alone with his father-in-law. He looked at her, unsure what to do. Whether you smile at him or not. Perhaps he became aware after Jade sinned against him. However, this has nothing to do with what his daughter has done to him. Despite this, he maintained his respect and affection for the old man. As a result, Leandre stood up and hugged him. They hadn't seen each other in a few years when he and Jade were newlyweds. He had no idea why he had never visited their home even once. And there were times when he didn't even go to their house in the province.
"How are you, dad?" he asked while loosening his hug from his stepfather.
And returned to his swivel chair.
"I'm fine." answered his stepfather and sat down on the couch.
"Did you go to the house?" asked Leandre.
"No. I'm going straight here. You know I don't know the ins and outs of the entire city." his stepfather replied.
"Why were you sent out of the city? Is there a problem in the province?" asked Leandre.
His stepfather became uneasy in his seat.
"You're not going out of here if you're not in trouble. What happened?"
"I just want to know if it's true that you and Jade have broken up?" he asked.
Leandre leaned on the swivel chair and looked at his stepfather.
"Did you just find out about that news now?" asked Leandre.
"Yes. I called Jade to confirm but I couldn't contact her. And she didn't give me money when I asked her because I was going to buy medicine." this is the answer.
Leandre frowned.
"Are you sick?"
"It has been a while. I felt something bad to my body."
"But how come I didn't know about that? Jade doesn't get any money from me because of her frivolous luxuries; she only has her savings left, but why can't she give it to you?" Leandre wondered.
"I don't even know why I came here to ask, but what is the reason you two broke up?" his stepfather asked.
Leandre exhaled a sigh. He has no idea how to tell his stepfather what has happened. But he can't make up for Jade's mistakes in front of her father.
"Do we need to discuss that?" Leandre inquired.
"Yes, because as a father, I have the right to know."
Leandre exhaled a sigh. He will be forced to tell the truth this time. He didn't want Jade's family to know about the problem.
"Your daughter cheated on me; I saw her with a man inside our room, and they did something nefarious on top of our bed," Leandre explained.
His stepfather's expression changed, and his jaw suddenly tensed.
"What?"
His stepfather stood up.
"I'm not saying this to smear your daughter's image, but that's what I saw. You know how much I love her that I married her, but what she did to me is very wrong." Leandre replied.
"I'm not sure how I'll react to that. I'm not sure why it all came to this. I didn't miss admonishing her. I'm the one who apologized for what she did to you," his stepfather said.
"Let's forget what happened, but I'm telling you that your daughter and I can't get back together because what she did tarnish my good image, which is the trend in the business world. They mock me because my wife cheated on me, so everyone wonders what's wrong with me."
His stepfather bowed and sat down on the couch. He texted his secretary to give his stepfather food. It was as if he was done eating while waiting for him. The door opened and Lexie entered with food and placed it on the table in front of his stepfather.
"Eat first, father. Wait for me so we can go home together so you can talk to Jade," said Leandre.
"Have you eaten?" his stepfather asked.
"I'm still full. You can eat first."
Then the door opened again and Lexie came in again carrying a baby boy.
"He's with me." said his stepfather.
Leandre looked at the boy as he stared at him. So he smiled at him.
Leandre was tired of what he was doing after a few hours and decided to go home. They all left the company together and got into a car. The boy was always looking at him in the mirror. When he smiles, it smiles back. Leandre first went to a pizza restaurant and purchased three boxes of pizza. They arrived at the house a few minutes later. He got the car inside because the gate was open. Leandre was the first to leave, followed by his stepfather and the child. Nobody is in the living room. So he left you two and went into the guest room to dress.
Because of his back pain, Leandre lies down on the bed. He had no idea he had fallen asleep. He stood up and exited the guest room because he was hungry. He went directly to the kitchen. He hadn't even entered when he heard Jade's voice in the living room.
Leandre stopped.
"What are you doing here, father? I told you to wait for me to get home. You are hard-headed."
Leandre raised his eyebrows at what Jade said to his father. She was not even happy to see his father and come here. He didn't know that there was a misunderstanding between the two based on Jade's approaches.
"You have no respect. I didn't make a mistake in what I taught you, but what did you do? You did something stupid." his stepfather said calmly.
"Really? You just came here to say that? You're just wasting time. Is it the money you need? You even brought that kid here. What do you want to happen? You want us to get into trouble?" Jade said.
Leandre frowned. Why do they mess up? What's going on?
"Really?" his stepfather exclaimed. "You were a fool. You managed to fool a sane man who truly loves you, and why are you still here at his house if you cheated on him big time?"
Jade remained silent. But she spoke up once more.
"You're just my father; you have no right to tell me what I should do."
"What are you afraid of telling Leandre? That you already duped him by not telling him about your past?" his stepfather asked.
"Don't you dare, father! The two of us will return to the mud!" exclaimed Jade.
"I don't care; you're going to deny your child? What kind of mother are you, Jade?" his stepfather questioned.
Leandre's eyes widened when he heard this. This woman lied to him after all these years? Is this to say she wasn't truthful with him? Is this child her son? What gives her the right to deceive him? She no longer has the right to remain in his home.
"I don't know that boy, father; I despise him, so it doesn't matter if he's my son," Jade exclaimed.
Leandre witnessed the child's tears as a result of Jade's scream. This is not a wise mother because she abandoned her child and married him.
