Chapter 14

Leandre had not even gotten into his car when he felt someone grab his arm and turn around. He noticed Lexie's happy expression.
"Hello, Lexie, and why are you here?" Leandre asked.

While examining who was with her. Lexie's companion was new to him.

"Yes, sir. This pub is new, so we thought we'd take a look around; besides, they're all your employees," Lexie laughed.

"I'm sorry; none of you were familiar to me," Leandre said.

They both laughed.

"It's okay, sir," they said, "you have so many employees that you can't master all of our faces."

Leandre simply nodded.

"Won't you come inside, sir?" Lexie asked.
Even though he feels as if he is ashamed to invite him because he is their boss. But they are not in the company, so treating him differently is okay.
"I'm going home, Lexie. That's where I'm from inside. There are a lot of people. Be careful." answered Leandre.
"All right, sir."

After they left Lexie, Leandre got into the car and drove to the pub. Leandre did nothing but shake his head. It's lonely when it looks like this without company. It's as if he's lost, and he no longer has a companion, unlike the many people who entered the pub. There is a couple, as well as family and friends. From what he could tell, he was the only one here without a companion. So he prefers going home and sleeping to wandering alone. He's going insane just thinking about it. He wanted to call Nicholas sooner, but he was too embarrassed. Ninette may believe he has a negative influence on her husband.

When his phone rang, he hadn't even started the car. He took it from his pocket, looked at the screen to see who had called, and saw Nicholas' name. Leandre felt at ease. Nicholas appears to feel that he needs in need of someone to talk to right now. So he quickly returned his call before changing his mind. Leandre imagined himself laughing as if he were a child yearning for love. People passing by might mistake him for a crazy man if he laughs loudly with his car window open.

"Why, Nicholas?" he asked.
"Nothing, I called to see how you were," Nicholas on the other end of the line replied.
"Is that correct? I'm out now, at the new open bar," Leandre replied.

"What are you doing over there?" Nicholas asked.

Leandre leaned back in his seat.

"Nothing, just walking around to get some fresh air."

"Did you wander by yourself?"

"Why is it not permitted?"

Leandre's head shook. Nicholas doesn't seem to realize that if he's in a bad mood or angry, he can go to the city by himself.

"It's not. It's just that it's sad to walk around alone in the city; you look like a crazy person." Nicholas laughed on the other end of the line.
Leandre's head shook. Nicholas was never able to say anything sensible to him. He was always cracking jokes at him. He simply does not pay attention when he is bored. Because this is his only friend, he will have to put up with his annoying jokes.
"Why did you call if you didn't have anything sensible to say to me?" Leandre inquired.

"Come here to the house; I'm alone," Nicholas said.

"Why?" Leandre asked.

"My wife left for their province."

"How about you?"

"I had work this morning; you know how hard I work," Nicholas replied, laughing.

"Yes, it appears that your employees want to replace you because of your hard work; you would think that the employee comes in more every day than the owner," Leandre replied, laughing loudly.

"Damn you, it's fine if I don't come to the office for at least a year. I'm the owner," Nicholas stutteringly replied.

"You can, but it's not a good idea to make fun of your employees; your business will fail if you do," Leandre replied.

"You're bitter about life; come to the house before I forget we're friends," Nicholas said before hanging up the phone.

Leandre chuckled as he slipped his phone into his pocket. But instead of going in, it fell under the seat. So he ducked it, and his hand was out by the window. Someone was again holding Leandre's hand. So he looked up to see who that person was. He couldn't see anything, though. In that grip, he experiences the same emotions. Is it possible that that hand belongs to only one person? Why is it that he never sees that person? Leandre went outside for a while to look around, hoping to see who passed by his car, but he couldn't find anyone.

Alondra shook her head because she had a bad night. He almost fell to the ground twice because he couldn't hold on to something. And he just tripped because he unexpectedly broke a large stone in his path. It's fortunate that he unexpectedly grabbed a car window with both hands. Fortunately, the owner did not become enraged. That's why he didn't see the owner of the hand's face. And Alondra believes she only touched the same soft hand, implying that the hand she touched earlier as they entered the pub was the same. He was intrigued by the appearance of the owner of that hand. Because he has no roughness in his hand.

He hasn't been drinking but he looks like he's drunk and living with a bucket of beer because he looks like he's going to fall over.
"Adjust your walk, Alondra. You're not always lucky. Maybe next time you'll be dumb and your nose hit the pavement." Daisy laughed at him.
"I didn't see the stone earlier. I just want to sleep. I'm not used to staying up late. I won't go with you next time." answered Alondra.
"There's no party like this next time, Alondra. Because you're not happy. They're the only ones who got drunk. And Clark didn't get drunk from beer, but he got drunker from staring at you." Daisy said laughing.

"Stop talking!"
Clark comes to her mind. She never saw him again after that. Because he left earlier and never returned. And their co-workers who were with them were still inside the pub when they left. Maybe they weren't satisfied with their wild dancing. Alondra imagined herself laughing. And now she and Daisy are walking through the city, where the wind is bitterly cold, and she has been shivering for some time. They are both looking for a taxi to ride in. The entire city is cold, but many people are still sitting on the sidelines or eating at nearby restaurants. When Alondra noticed the streetlights they were passing, she smiled.

She was relieved that after all this time, she finally felt at ease. She is no longer felt hungry and has forgotten about her struggle to eat. She intended to return home after receiving her salary to check on her parents in the province and to see Mathilde. Maybe they won't let them happen and ask for leave from work for one day. So far, she has saved some money because Daisy is overly generous with her tips, which she is splitting with her.
"Perhaps we'll walk it tomorrow, Daisy?" Alondra asked, holding her arm.

"Don't be in such a hurry. It's still nine o'clock. I'd rather we go for a walk tonight. It's safe here now. Look at all the other children running around. Kidnapping is not a trend here today," Daisy explained.

"Don't be afraid, Daisy; perhaps someone will suddenly block us here now," Alondra said as she turned around.

Alondra observed no suspicious behavior by the men in the area. So she was no longer nervous. A car stopped in front of them after a few minutes of walking. They both stopped. The driver's head peered out the open window. Because the man was unfamiliar to them, Alondra felt nervous. Daisy gripped her tightly. If they both run, this man will undoubtedly pursue them.
"Where are you going, Miss?" asked the man, who was staring at Daisy intently.

Alondra couldn't see the man because he had a mustache covering his face. He became alarmed and looked around. If they scream, someone will undoubtedly come to their aid.
"We're on our way home, just looking for a taxi," Daisy replied calmly, but she could feel the coldness in her hand.
Not because of the cold, but because of anxiety.

"I see. Get in my car, and I'll take you to where you're going home," the man said.

Daisy responded with a laugh, "Not anymore; it would be embarrassing for you if we bothered you."

The man gave a genuine smile. However, this expression should not be taken seriously.

"I'm fine. I'm alone in the car. If you think I have bad intentions, no way, I'm not doing bad things to other people." said the man.
Daisy approached him and asked for assistance. Alondra did nothing more than nod. The man emerged from the house and opened the door for them. It appears to be about six feet tall.

"You're in the front seat, and I don't want to look like a driver," the man laughed.

He and Daisy exchanged glances to see which of them the man was referring to.

"You, Miss," he addressed Daisy.

"Okay."

"Are you all right in the back?" the man asked.

"No problem."

When Alondra saw Daisy enter, she came in. He couldn't sleep where he was sitting until they arrived home. He was cold, but it only made him feel more nervous. He was hoping they wouldn't perish. The rain then became more intense. And they can't see their way out. The driver was moving slowly. Until they arrived at the coffee shop. Alondra exhaled a sigh of relief. However, the rain is becoming more intense, with thunder and lightning. Daisy was asked to hold an umbrella by the man who came out with it. Because of what the man did, Alondra raised her brows. When Alondra noticed Daisy outside with an umbrella, she opened the door.

When she came out, she immediately surrounded Daisy to protect her from the rain.
"Put your car on the side first so it doesn't block the front of the shop. Go home first because it's raining so hard and you can't see the road; it's dangerous to go home now," Daisy advised.

The man smiled sparingly. Alondra suddenly thought that it was possible to bring a man to the house where they lived, but she preferred to remain silent. Daisy was right when she said that it is dangerous to drive in the rain because the road is too slippery and it is still night. They are just returning the man's kindness, she guess if he didn't deliver them, the rain would have soaked them on the way and the man had already returned to his house. Maybe it's okay. After some time, the three of them went over the edge together. The silence all around. And the other house is dark. Maybe the others haven't come home yet. They made the most of the night.

Daisy walked first followed by the man and finally Alondra.
"By the way, where have you been?" the man asked out of nowhere.
"At the bar house. It's the birthday of one of our coworkers." Daisy replied.
"I see. Is it okay for you to let a man into your boarding house? You might get scolded."
"We're staying here. Besides, it's okay. It's not forbidden to bring family, friends, or boyfriends." Daisy replied.
"Good to hear that. You might be blessed because of me."
"It's okay. It's a bit risky to drive today because it's raining a lot. I don't know why it suddenly rained heavily when the weather wasn't bad. And there was no news of a typhoon." Daisy said and opened the gate.
So the three of them entered together. The man sat on the sofa when Daisy turned on the light.
"We'll leave you for a while to get dressed," Daisy said.
"All right."
When they entered, Daisy immediately confronted him.
"Is it okay with you for him to stay here for one night?" asked Daisy.

"Of course, he's a nice guy because we got home safely," Alondra replied.
"Thank you, Alondra; get dressed and sleep there, and if you want to eat, I'll cook for you."
"I'm stuffed."

"OK, I'll take care of our guest first," Daisy said as she emerged from the house with a blanket, two pillows, and clean clothes.

One pair of pajamas and a loose t-shirt. Alondra laughed. Daisy is a nice person. She searched for clean clothes and stripped naked. She was still cold, so she dressed in a thick jacket and pajamas. And climbed into her bed.
