Chapter 17
Alondra leans against the chair facing Daisy and waits for her about the news she mentions earlier. Then Daisy took a deep breath and started eating the food she brought.
"It's all about Clark," Daisy replied.
"What about him? Did something happen to Clark?" Alondra asked, wondering what would the problem that man was.
"Nothing happened to him. But hearing some news about him made me shocked. I can't believe it." Daisy responded as if she was angry.
"What is it, Daisy? Do you need me to think what his problem is?" Alondra said, starting to get annoyed.
"All right. Clark was getting married." Daisy responded and look at her intently.
"Really? Who is the woman he married with?" Alondra asked.
"I don't know. As far as I know, Clark is single and never had a girlfriend."
"What? What happened then? Why is he get married suddenly if he didn't have a girlfriend?" Alondra asked puzzled about what happened to Clark.
Maybe that time when they are at the bar house. Clark left and never return.
"I don't know what happens, Alondra. But I heard them talking about Clark. They say that he was being arranged by his parents to marry a woman he didn't love." Daisy replied in a sad voice.
Being married to a person who you didn't love is the hardest thing to accept. A person's whole life is tied to a marriage without love isn't normal. Her parents came to her mind. Until now she didn't understand why people kept on living with each other if they were not happy anymore. It is like making their life miserable for a lifetime. Leaving a world full of pain and suffering is sustainable. But they have their own decisions that no one would stop from doing so.
"Is it possible? As far as I know, parents was the one who understands children's feelings. But why is that?" Alondra asked out of nowhere.
"Not all parents are like that. There are parents had an attitude that is self-centered and selfish. To the extent that they set aside the feelings of their children just to fulfill their happiness. I doubt Clark was being a victim of arranged marriage for the merger of their family's company." Daisy replied, her mouth twisted.
"All I thought Clark has a simple life just like us?"
"That's what you thought. Clark's family was wealthy and well-known here. That's is easy for them to plan for their children's lives and to be tied to a woman they want. That's how rich work." Daisy replied drink water.
"That's how it is. Why do you become sad? We didn't do anything for him." Alondra said.
"I know that. But everyone knows that he is planning to court someone but it turns like this." Daisy replied.
That made Alondra frown. Even she was curious about the woman Clark planning to court.
"Who is the woman are you referring to?"
"You. Clark admitted to us that he likes you that's why he forced you to come to his birthday party that night. That was the last time we could be with him as a young man." Daisy answered seriously.
"What? Why me? If he will use me as a reason to prevent his marriage. My life will be even more chaotic." Alondra complained.
"We'll be happier if that happens, Alondra. We don't want Clark to marry a woman he doesn't love and like." Daisy said.
"That's okay because it's harder to lose money than to deny his parents' wishes," Alondra said.
He didn't know that there was such an event in the lives of the rich. The only thing he knew to do was to find a sideline that he could get into so he could buy rice.
Daisy rolled her eyes.
"Clark has savings and even if he doesn't want to marry that woman, he won't starve," Daisy replied.
Alondra laughed.
"Don't throw your frustration at Clark's marriage to me. Because it will continue no matter how angry you are at it." Alondra said.
Daisy looked at her intently.
"Stop it, Alondra," said Daisy out of nowhere.
"What? Are you crazy? You're going to make my life in danger? Do you think we're the end point? What if we're not? Clark and that woman are destined for each other?" said Alondra, which made Daisy frown.
"What are you talking about there, Alondra? Don't make me confused. Are you still hungry? There are some foods left. You can eat all of this." Daisy said.
Alondra laughed at Daisy's reaction was priceless. She suddenly thought of Daisy's suggestion to prevent Clark from getting married. For what? To continue courting her? They weren't in the movie for that to happen. They are in the reality of life that is difficult to understand. She can't sacrifice her quiet life so that someone can be free in the happiness he can choose. As much as possible she should not get involved with any man. If Clark doesn't want to get married he will figure out a way to prevent the marriage.
Anger is evident on Daisy's face. She is like Clark's girlfriend who was left behind and traded for someone else in her reaction. She doesn't care if they get married after all their lives are different. Those people who were born rich are luckier because they no longer have money problems.
Daisy looked at her face.
"What? Is there something you want to tell me?" Alondra asked.
"Maybe Clark's feelings for you stop right here. The two of you are still a thing. There are times when you like someone but there's no way you're going to keep it on yourself that letting it out, especially if the opportunity doesn't work out." Daisy answered sadly.
"Don't think about that. It's better to go back to the counter before Mrs. Abra sees us here." Alondra suggested.
"Mrs. Abra is gone. It's been a few weeks already. She shouldn't be here because it will make me feel better. I don't know if that old woman had a happy life. She's always frowning." Daisy said.
"Does she have a husband?"
"No. Maybe she was single for life until she get old and died because no man fell in love because of her bad behavior." Daisy replied.
"Maybe not. Now is not her time to have a boyfriend," answered Alondra.
"When? If her uterus is gone?"
Alondra laughed.
"Get settled, Daisy. When Mrs. Abra hears you, for sure you are being fired from work. But wait. Why did she become Mrs. Abra?" she asked.
"That's what she'd want that her staff going to call her. It's too much of an assumption." Daisy replied, rolling her eyes.
"I see."
"Can you be a waitress for a moment? There's one server absent. After all, you have nothing to wash here yet." Daisy said.
"Okay."
