Chapter 26
Even though she had been lying down for some time, Alondra was not sleepy. She appears to have lost interest in using the phone even more, and she is aware that the device is from Daisy. She couldn't believe she had forgotten her so quickly, despite how nice she had been to her. Even though the fact that the two of them have only been together for a month, her kindness to Alondra has left an impression on both her heart and mind. But she couldn't blame Daisy for being preoccupied with her life. Alondra rose and retrieved her sling bag from the dresser.
She looked at her phone, thinking she had a message from Daisy, but there was none, so she sighingly placed it back inside the bag.
While Leandre has yet to leave his room, he is aware that Jade is still at his mother's house. He has no idea what's going on outside because he has been shutting himself in his room since yesterday. He doesn't want to see Jade in his mother's house. She appeared to be wearing clothes with no fabric. He would never believe it if he didn't know Jade's behavior, but he believes she is negotiating and pretending to be nice to him and his family to win his heart and avoid being angry with her.
So he will avoid it for as long as possible. Because he notices that she looks at him differently and that her clothes appear to be lacking in fabric, he is drawn to her. He decided to leave the room to eat because he was hungry. When he opened the door, he saw Jade's smiling face wearing a thin big white long sleeve, and the bikini inside was visible.
"You're out now; I thought you fell asleep?" Jade asked.
"Not really, I just finished some work," Leandre replied.
"They're calling you to eat, and they're in the back house," is the response.
He is perplexed as to why Jade has not yet returned to their province. She appears to still intend to live at his mother's house. Leandre was the first to descend the stairs, and Jade followed him quietly. When he arrived at the back house, he frowned at the food on the long table. Geo, Nicholas, and Uncle Lazaro were all wearing only trunks. Meanwhile, Ninette, Emerald, and Mommy Lucille drowned in the pool while wearing bikinis. He approached the table and began eating.
"What's up?" he asked.
"If you had just come out earlier you would have known what was going on out here," Nicholas replied smiling as if he was joking.
"I have worked inside my room," Leandre answered and pulled up a chair.
Nicholas laughs.
"It turns out that the room can now be turned into an office? Or are you deliberately avoiding something?" Nicholas asked and he nudged the one behind him that he knew was Jade approaching.
"Damn you, Nicholas! Don't sell my soul to the devil." Leandre said softly.
Geo laughed but Uncle Lazaro didn't, he was looking at him with questioning eyes.
"I thought you two had gotten back together because I've always seen her here. And take note, her face looks kind." Nicholas said again.
"Shut up! Are you here just to tease me? Shut up first because I'm hungry."
"All right."
So Leandre kept eating. He was only hungry now that he had eaten so much. Leandre simply leaned back and gazed at the bathing women a few minutes later. They act like a happy family splashing water. If Emerald and Jade fight, they don't seem to fight. Leandre simply shook his head, saying that if Jade hadn't cheated on him, they would have been content. He had no idea Nicholas was sitting next to him.
"I've been looking at you for a while now and I'm confused as to which one of them you're looking at," Nicholas told him.
"It's not funny. Don't make fun of me like that because I'm not happy," answered Leandre.
"Why? You should be happy because Jade seems to be at ease with the breakup between the two of you," replied Nicholas.
"You think what she's doing is genuine?"
"Is it not?" Nicholas frowned.
"Yes. I can recognize her true character in the past few months that we were separated."
So I doubt that she was up to something. I can't be quiet if he's around. But it's very unprofessional of me to send her away suddenly without any valid reasons," Leandre replied.
"Are you afraid of what she can do? Or are you afraid that you might not be able to stop yourself from going back to her? Because no matter what you say you don't love her anymore or you've moved on from her, it still doesn't just disappear you just try to forget." said Nicholas.
Leandre was very cowardly to admit to Nicholas that he still loves Jade. He was betrayed so he would rather live alone than be with the woman he loves but hurt his feelings.
"Is there any reason for me to keep loving her? No matter how many times she changes herself, I still can't bring her back to my life," he answered.
"Yeah, we need to move on and find someone who will truly love us. I'm also a man, so I understand what she's up to. She was trying to bite you with her plan to hurt you. If with another man because they strangled that woman for a long time because she's undeniably beautiful and has a slim body. But if you know she hurt you and insulted your character, you shouldn't be carried away by her kindness to you. You've done enough. Desperate women will try to find a way, remember that. We can see she's no longer the woman you once loved, so that's fine "Nicholas expressed himself passionately.
"Yes, thank you; I was enlightened as a result of what you said," Leandre said.
"Of course. Even though we always bully each other, I can't help but be concerned about you. By the way, I heard there's a new open bar along the city; let's try to go," Nicholas said.
"How are we going to proceed there?"
"Of course, I'll drink; why else would you want to live there?"
"Shut up! You know so much. I'm just wondering what we're going to do there. If it's just me, that's fine because I'm free anywhere, but what about you? Will Ninette let you?" Leandre asked.
"Why not? Nicholas is a very kind husband, so why should I stop him if I know he will enjoy where he is going and if he does not do something that will destroy our relationship?" Ninette smiled.
He can say that Nicholas is very fortunate to have such an understanding wife. Leandre exhaled a sigh. She was sitting alone because Nicholas was looking after Ninette and feeding her. Because he had nothing to do in the back house, Leandre stood up and walked inside. He should go to bed.
But Emerald saw him. It's wet walking from inside the house.
"Aren't you cold from the way you look? Get dressed," he said here.
"Mommy and I are going to take a bath. Besides, it's not cold. Are you going to sleep?" Emerald asked.
"Yes. I'm tired from my work. But I'm okay." answered Leandre.
"Are you okay? If you're not comfortable with Jade being here at our house, I can talk to her." Emerald said and looked at him intently.
"Just let him be with you. It's very ugly to see you send her away all of a sudden," he answered.
"I want you to be happy that why I did this. I want you to be complacent without her chasing you and you are very angry when you see her. I'm not saying that my treatment of her is pretending. It came to the point of forgiving us because we want to have a peaceful life ahead of us if we have a grudge against someone, we will surely think of a problem and that person's fault. I want you to be happy and move forward. How can you move on if you are only here you didn't force yourself to continue in life? You're so handsome. There are many other women out there who will like you. If you are already okay, you can file for divorce so you can be free." Emerald said.
"Thank you, Emerald. Go back outside now. I'm going to sleep."
"Okay."
Leandre went to his room and lay down on the bed. He wouldn't be happy if he knew Jade was around. He closed his eyes and sleep engulfed him.
Alondra woke up early the next day. Her sleep was not comfortable even though he knew the room he was in was beautiful. She even forgot that she was no longer at the coffee shop and that she was here in a big house that was not familiar to her and suddenly she went with the owner who was too generous. If it's someone else, it won't waste a large amount of money to give it to the person it just met. She got up and put on the slippers she found under the bed. She left the room and slowly went down the stairs. She didn't see anyone downstairs and she was very confused about where to go first.
"Are you awake yet?" asked Mr. Harway who she didn't realize was behind her.
"Yes."
"How was your sleep?" asked Mr. Harway is now by her side.
She was ashamed to admit here the truth that she didn't sleep much because she was changing all over the place.
"Do you need anything?" asked Mr. Harway.
"I was going to drink some water. Because I've been thirsty for a while," answered Alondra.
"Okay. Just wait in the living room and the helper will bring it to you," answered Mr. Harway and was the first to get off her.
Alondra did nothing but nod. She wants to ask her what kind of work she can do because it is embarrassing to serve as a helper when she is not a guest. She wants to work so she can send money to her parents next month. Alondra sat down while waiting for the water she asked for. After a few minutes, the woman approached where she was and gave her a glass of water.
"Thank you."
"Are you hungry?" she asked.
"I'm still full. Do you have anything else to do? I can help you." Alondra said.
But the woman shook her head.
"It's not possible. It's because Mr. Harway left a legacy that you shouldn't help with the work here. Because you're her guest and then we're paid a lot here and that's why we do all the work." answered the woman.
Alondra suddenly had hope when she heard about the big salary. But she suddenly felt sad because she couldn't work here.
"Come with me to the kitchen so you can eat."
Alondra didn't say a word, instead, she followed the woman into the kitchen. The kitchen area of Mr. Harway is still big than the Coffee shop. There are many expensive cabinets filled with items such as plates and glasses along with expensive Tupperware. She didn't seem to want to continue going in when she saw how many breakable items there were. There was a lot of food on the long table but she seemed to eat alone. Because the woman left the kitchen and left her alone inside. Alondra does not know what to do with the amount of food she sees as if this will be her last moment and she will be hanged and punished by death.
"Why haven't you eaten yet?" asked Mr. Harway was approaching the table.
"I just waited for you because I was ashamed to eat first if the owner of the house hadn't," Alondra replied smiling.
"You don't have to think like that. As long as there is food prepared for you, eat it. Also, don't think about me anymore, I don't eat much, I don't want to get fat."
"All right."
Mr. Harway has also sat down but she saw that he only eats vegetables and then meat. And it must be delicious because she sees that he even though the vegetables don't seem quite cooked. So maybe it's too white because everything eaten is pure vegetables. After a few minutes they were eating in silence, only the sound of the spoon and fork being used by Mr. Harway is only the sound she heard.
"What job are you going to give me?" Alondra asked out of nowhere.
Mr. Harway looked at her.
"You can stay here as long as you want as long as you wait for what they want you to do," it answered in a formal tone.
"I'm sorry but I have to find the money for my parents," answered Alondra.
"Of course. I have money and I can give you any amount."
"I don't want to receive money that I didn't work for. I prefer what I worked for," answered Alondra.
"Okay."
