Chapter 49

After a few hours of emotional conversation with Mathilde, she said her goodbyes and entered the room to complete an assignment. So Alondra went outside and sat on a bench under a tree. She had only been gone for a few hours, but she had already missed her baby so much that her phone rang and she called before she could think of calling Garret.

"Do you have a problem, Garret?" Alondra asked.

"Nothing; how did you get here?"

"We're fine; how's Shania?" Alondra asked.

"She's fine; we were at Dianne's a while ago, and we came here after you left; don't worry, she's not crying, and she's too young to realize you're not by her side," Garrett replied.

"Yes, thank you."

"By the way, I found a wedding invitation in your dresser that's dated tomorrow; are you coming?" Garret asked.

And she replied that the wedding invitation was Lexie's and that it had been one year. Will she go? Because she knows Leandre will be there and they will meet. But she knew Lexie would sulk if she couldn't see her.

"I don't know, Garret. I just got here and I'm going home again? It's too much trouble," she replied.

"Perhaps this couple wants you to go; just come back there afterward; it's a shame if you can't," Garret said.

"Can't you be the one to go on behalf of me?"
"It's not possible because I don't know them. Just go home here for a while, okay?"
"Do I have a choice?"
Garret laughed on the other end of the line.
A minute later Garret said he had something else to do. Alondra smiled when the cool breeze touched her face. She's debating whether to go to Lexie's wedding or whether she's ready to face Leandre. She thought about entering the house and saw her father watching television in the living room.
"Are you going to eat, Alondra?" asked her father.
"Not yet because I'm still full," answered Alondra.
"Okay."
Then her mother called them to eat so they entered the kitchen and she saw Hebrew preparing food on the table. Alondra also sat down.
"Where's Mathilde?" asked her mother.
"She's in her room doing assignments," answered Alondra.
"She hasn't eaten yet?"
"It's still full because when she's hungry it will come out because she knows you're cooking food." answered his father.
So Alondra didn't speak anymore because she was still hungry because of the smell of the dish her mother cooked.

Leandre is in town today because he needs to get some fresh air. It's been a year since he filed for divorce, and he's glad he got out of his marriage with Jade and is now single again. He can now have a relationship with anyone, but he has lost his appetite because Alondra hasn't left his mind in a year.
How is she now, or what is her life like now, wherever she is? He missed her so much that he wanted to hug her, kiss her, and look at her beautiful face, but he didn't know where to look.

And Lexie's wedding is tomorrow, and he doesn't seem to want to go, but Lexie has also become important in her life, so he doesn't want her to sulk. He was leaning on the hood of his car, staring at the people passing by, as if he was waiting for someone, but there isn't anyone. When his phone rang, he took it from his pocket and saw that it was Nicholas calling.

"Why, Nicholas?" he asked.
"Nothing. I just want to know if there is a celebration because you are back to being single and ready to mingle," replied Nicholas.
Leandre shook his head.
"No celebration. I'm here in the city now," answered Leandre.
"Who are you with?"
"I'm alone," answered Leandre.
"Why? When you're single are you alone? Why don't you date again? So that your life is colorful?" asked Nicholas.

"Come here if you're not doing anything," Leandre said before hanging up the phone.

He didn't wait for his friend to complain. He'd already texted his location. When he opened the window of his car an hour later, he saw that his friend was still laughing.

"Are you expecting me or someone else?" Nicholas inquired.

"Damn you! Let's go," Leandre replied, getting into his car.

And when he noticed Nicholas ahead of him, he just followed him. He appears to be still angry at his invitation because he has the strength to drive his car.

"Come here if you're not doing anything," Leandre said before hanging up the phone.

And Leandre had no idea they went to a club where Alondra had previously worked. Leandre has not yet appeared. He was still debating whether or not to go out, but Nicholas knocked him down and forced him to come down.

"Why did you think of us coming here? Then did you think about what time it is? It's not even night yet." said Leandre.
Nicholas laughed.
"You want to be with me, right? So why are you complaining?" asked Nicholas.

"Nothing, because we're here at the club," Leandre replied.

"Really? Or do you just remember that this is where you and Alondra first met?" Nicholas asked, leaving him speechless.

So Leandre did nothing but enter the club and proceed to the counter. Leandre turned around. There has been a significant change in the mentioned location; it is now so obvious that it appears to think twice. And he noticed that the drink servers were no longer scantily clad women, but rather male waiters. And there is no longer the rumored stage dancing of women who will strip. The mentioned location has been completely renovated. Nicholas then approached him at the counter.

"How was it? Are you comfortable in this place?" Nicholas asked.
"Sort of. I notice that it's fully renovated not like before." Leandre answered and motioned to the bartender.
This place is not as beautiful as it used to be. This is a nice bar house compared to before.
"The owner of this place is different so it looks like this and as far as I know the previous owner went to jail or something because it seems like there were a lot of complaints so the place was sold," said Nicholas.
"Why do you know? Do you always come here?" asked Leandre.
"Sort of. That's why I know and the paid girls are no longer here," replied Nicholas.
Leandre burst out laughing.
"It's good that Ninette is okay?"
"Yeah. The two of us are here together so why would she be angry?" Nicholas said with a laugh.

The bartender then appeared with my drink. Alondra was sitting on the sofa when her parents approached her and sat next to her.

"You're only here for one day?" her mother asked, smiling.

"Yes, but I'll be back, and then I'll call you when I start working at the hospital," Alondra replied.

"Yes. There is no problem if you don't want to go to work. Just rest first and then go to work. And also chase your happiness because we can see that you have no obligation to us now because our life has become okay. The self and you will think about your happiness," her mother replied.

.

"No problem; we're just getting started, so don't tell me I'm done with my responsibilities to you," Alondra replied.

Alondra decided to sleep an hour later because she had to return to the city at four o'clock the next day. She does not want to be late for Lexie's wedding, but if she is unable to attend, she will attend the reception. She closed her eyes and lay down on the bed.

Alondra awoke at three o'clock the next day, wanting to return to the city as soon as possible because she missed her baby so much. She didn't get much sleep at night because she wasn't used to being separated from her baby.

"No problem; we're just getting started, so don't tell me I'm done with my responsibilities to you," Alondra replied.

She first showered and dressed before leaving her room. And she noticed Mathilde was already dressed in her uniform, her hair still wet.

"Are you leaving now, sister?" Mathilde asked.
"Yes. Is there no Hebrew yet?"
"Not yet. Eat first. Shall I prepare for you?"
"I'm still full, Mathilde. I'll eat in the city."
"Okay."

Alondra said goodbye to her family and drove Hebrew to the terminal an hour later because it was still five o'clock.
She jumped off the tricycle and said goodbye to Hebrew before boarding the bus. She also had to wait an hour before the bus arrived. She couldn't wait any longer; she needed to see Shania right away. It was only one night that she wasn't with her, but it felt like they hadn't seen each other in a long time.

As a result, she was eager to get to the city. Alondra didn't realize she'd fallen asleep in her seat until she awoke to find herself alone inside.

So, despite her shyness, she immediately got off the bus and looked for a taxi to take her to the boutique, but she had to go first. She got out of the taxi as soon as it came to a stop and paid. She pushed open the door and walked right in. When she saw Harley carrying her baby, she burst out laughing.

"Your mommy is here," Harley said to Shania, who smiled as if she understood.

She approached Shania and kissed her passionately.

"I miss you, darling," Alondra said, hugging her child.

"Where has Garrett gone?"

"He said he was going somewhere, so he left Shania with me," Harley replied.

"All right, please hold the baby first. I'm just going to look for some clothes to wear to my friend's wedding," Alondra said as she strolled around the boutique.

She was looking for a simple whole dress that was not too expensive. So she noticed something fuchsia in color above the knee in the back.  She took the dress and brought it to the counter because she was pleased with it. Shania was already in the crib, and Harley and Garret were helping her dress like a family. Alondra smiled because of what she was seeing, and they didn't even notice because they were too preoccupied with dressing Shania with a constant smile.

"You look good," Alondra said, prompting Garret to stand up.

"Have you been there for a while?" he asked as if what she saw bothered him.

"Not really, I was just looking for clothes to wear later," Alondra explained. "Are you coming?" Alondra asked.

"I thought you weren't going, so I was surprised you came so early. I won't go with you; I'll just take you to the venue. Who's going to look after the baby? Harley has a job that you gave her double, and she is a manager even a cashier," Garrett responded.

Harley just smiled as she dressed Shania, pampered her, and loaded her. Alondra noticed the time was eight o'clock in the morning and informed Lexie that she would only be attending the reception and not the church. So Alondra went into her office first and dressed.

Leandre was still in his room and had no plans to leave. But he can't stop thinking about Lexie's wedding, and she's been calling him.

Leandre was still in his room and had no plans to leave. But he can't forget Lexie's wedding, and she's been calling him for quite some time. And then he heard his phone ring again, so he checked it to see who had called, and it was Nicholas.

"What? Do you need something?" asked Leandre.
"Whoa, it's easy. What's wrong with you today? Are you feeling bad when you wake up?"
"Why did you call?"
"Today is your secretary's wedding, isn't it? Why aren't you here at the church yet?" asked Nicholas.
"I'll just go to the reception. Just text me the address." said
Leandre hung up the phone.

At one o'clock in the morning, Alondra was able to leave the boutique. Garret dispatched her. When she invited him inside, he refused. She had already seen Lexie with the man who had been accepted at the entrance, and Alondra was certain that he was her groom. They also look good together. So he walked slowly inside, and Lexie smiled broadly when she saw her.

"Oh my, you made it on my wedding day," Lexie exclaimed happily, kissing her on the cheek before handing her the gift she had brought.

"Hang out there with the guests first, Alondra. Let's have a chat later." Lexie told him.
"I'm fine. This is your day so don't think about me," answered Alondra.

"Thank you," Lexie replied, pausing for a moment to lead her groom with the guests.

But she wouldn't let her go and returned her to her groom at the entrance. Alondra looked around to see if she recognized anyone, and her gaze was drawn to Ninette, who waved her husband Nicholas beside her. As she approached her, she smiled. She took a seat next to Ninette, smiling at Nicholas, who couldn't believe they'd met.

"Oh my, it's been a year since we last met, and you look good and very beautiful," Ninette exclaimed, smacking him on the cheek.

Alondra burst out laughing.

"Yeah, nice to meet you here," she replied.
But her eyes were on someone else, so her shyness won out and she asked her seatmates. She wasn't sure if she was late or not because Lexie and the groom were already there, and then everyone else seemed to start eating.

Leandre dashed out of his room when he realized he was too late to attend Lexie's wedding. Despite his laziness, he chose to get up. He got into his car and drove away as soon as he left his mother's house. He arrived at Lexie's wedding reception venue an hour later.

He parked his car on the side of the road, got out, and walked straight into the hotel. He looked around for Nicholas, but the only one he saw ahead was Lexie, who smiled and waved at him. Leandre smiled because she was happy.

He was walking toward his friend Nicholas when he turned around, but he stopped when his eyes widened at the woman next to Ninette who was talking to her. He had no idea that their paths would cross at Lexie's wedding one year later. When he saw her again, it was as if his feet were magnetized to the marble floor, and his chest trembled because she was so beautiful now.
