Chapter 43

Leandre desired to sleep, but the three of them remained in the boutique. He had no idea what they had purchased, so I assume they wanted to consume everything inside. But he had no idea why he had suddenly become nervous. After a few moments, he felt relieved when Emerald and Cheska emerged carrying numerous paper bags. As a result, Leandre shook his head. Alondra decided to get out of bed because she was thirsty. She had no idea what time it was, but she was still at work. She considered leaving when she noticed that the roll-up was closed and Garret was inside the counter with Harley. She went up to them. And she noticed Garret checking the sales.

"Are we going home, Alondra?" Garrett asked.
"What time is it? I fell asleep."
"It's past nine in the evening. So you can sleep well at home."
"Okay. Where are they?"

"They're still sleeping in the warehouse because they don't have a room yet, and tomorrow we'll start working, and congratulations to you because we've increased your product sales," Garret said as he smiled and walked away from the counter.
"Really?" Alondra asked. "Please put our sales on the volt now, Harley."

"It's done, ma'am."
"Okay. Thank you. I have to go." he said goodbye here.
"Take care, ma'am."
He followed Garret out. And the cold air immediately landed on his body. He felt better and his headache went away. He got into the car after that.
"Have you taken money to buy materials?" she asked Garret as the car sped along the highway.
"Not anymore. I'll take care of spending the money to make the room for your workers, Alondra. You need more money now, especially since you have a baby." Garret answered.
"Thank you. But the budget can handle it." Alondra said.
"No. You can pay when you become a full-fledged doctor soon. It's your dream to become a doctor, right?"
"Yes. Okay. Then pay me first or don't because we are both friends. I felt relieved because I can see the love in you as a sister. You are caring and loving plus you are good at cooking. Even if you don't need to do that thing, you to prepare my things for work and wash my dirty clothes." Garrett said with a smile.
"It's nothing. I paid to take care of you for letting me live in your house. It's just a small thing." answered Alondra.
Half an hour later they reached the house. Alondra went out first because she was thirsty. When she got to the kitchen, he immediately took water from the fridge. She would rather drink it cold than not. Then her phone rang. She took it inside her handbag.
And she saw that it was Mathilde who called. Her forehead was furrowed because it was 7 p.m. but she hadn't slept yet.
"Hi, Mathilde. Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"It's a fiesta here, sister. And there are shows at the barangay hall. Mom and dad have agreed that I will come here. Hebrew's sisters are with me." answered Mathilde.
"It's good. But don't stay up too late, you have school tomorrow. Why did you call, you have to pay something to the school for a project?" Alondra asked.

"Nothing. I just called because I miss you. Daddy is doing well and he always asks when you're coming home. Besides, our life here is fine, you don't have to give because it's okay for them to get another stall for groceries because their first business boomed, which is why we can buy here the things we need at home and for our studies. So you don't have to think about our welfare, sister. You just have to think about your happiness for now."

"Yes. I'm going home," answered Alondra.
"Great. I love you."
"I love you too, sister," answered Mathilde.
Reason for Alondra's tears to fall. Her family is very important to her. They are complete in hardships and comforts but she becomes selfish when it comes to her future baby because of the life of the father. She held her stomach and smiled.
"Go to sleep. Your crying won't do anything." Garret said she didn't realize he was behind her.
"Yes."
"Do you know that the mother's constant crying is bad for the baby? Even when you encounter sadness you have to laugh so that your child is not affected. So this time don't think about yourself." Garret said and handed her a glass with only milk.
"Thank you," she answered and accepted it.
"Go to sleep then."
After Garret left, Alondra followed as she carried her milk. She slowly climbed the stairs. And entered her room. She will promise herself that she will not cry anymore and that she will accept her fate. If she becomes a single mother, that's okay. She and her baby will live a beautiful life just in case. She will take good care of it and not be like her who went astray. And life is ruined. A few minutes later she came out of the kitchen and slowly climbed the stairs carrying the glass. She immediately entered the room and got dressed and drank the milk and lay down on the bed. The next day, Alondra woke up early because she planned to make Garret breakfast. She feels better and her headache is gone. The whole house was quiet when she went down the stairs because when Garret woke up first, she could hear soft music playing throughout the house. But now it's very quiet. She went straight to the kitchen only to find out Daisy's smiling face was what she saw.
"I miss you, Alondra." Daisy said and ran the distance between the two of them to hug her.
"Oh my, you don't have to run. What if you slip? Your stomach is still big." Alondra answered laughing and she hugged Daisy back.
"Why are you here? Why do you know Garret's house?" Alondra asked.
"Of course. I know it since Kazmer is his brother." Daisy answered with a smile and sat on the stool.
"Really? I don't know. Because Garret didn't mention it to me. Does that mean they are related to Timothy?"
"Yeah. It was Garret who told me you were here at his house. Are you that busy that you didn't even remember to call me?" Daisy said in an upset tone.

"I'm sorry. I'm too busy with the boutique I built so I can't remember." answered Alondra.
"Wow. Really? You've come a long way but you're still kind. You're no longer the simple girl I first saw and met. You're too elegant to look at. I told you that you'll really be successful too." said Daisy and suddenly her tears started to fall.
Alondra laughed.
"You're too emotional. Is it really like that when you're pregnant? Kazmer might think I'm fighting you here." answered Alondra.
"He witnesses how much I love you. So he won't mind." Daisy replied.
"Thank you for loving me. A year has passed but the phone you gave me is still the one I use." Alondra said laughing.
"Buy a new one. Don't you see anything else besides the one I gave you? You can afford the very expensive phone this time." Daisy said.
"I won't change it. It's still new."
"It's up to you." Daisy answered and she started preparing their food.
So he helped her.
"Why did you come here this morning?" he asked.
"Nothing. I don't have anything to do at home because Kazmer is at work all day. It's a good thing that in your two months with Garret, you didn't even fall in love with him?" Daisy asked seriously, that made Alondra's brows rise.
"What? You came here to ask that?" Alondra said.

"Of course. Who would have thought that two people who live in the same house aren't in a purely attractive relationship? Garret is a kind man, and so are you. Didn't he flirt or something?" Daisy asked.

Alondra laughed. Her bestfriend didn't know anything, so she felt bad. These are his wings, which he relied on when he didn't know how to survive in the city. But he refuses to reveal his secret to her.

"No. Because you know there are only two types of women: friends and lovers. So my role in the life of your brother in law is the first thing I mentioned, and he even said I am his sister," Alondra replied.

Daisy burst out laughing.
"He has a plan to be single forever."
"Let's just leave him for now. Maybe it's not really time for him to get married or even have a wife." Alondra said and sat down.
"Okay."

She and Daisy had a good breakfast and talked about how long they hadn't seen each other. Daisy said he broke up with the woman his parents chose for him and found the right person after hearing about the Coffee Shop staff who had a crush on her. Good for him, because love is not something that can be forced. They had finished their conversation with Daisy in the afternoon.

She said her goodbyes because she still needed to prepare dinner for her husband. Alondra smiled, happy for Daisy because she had found the right person to spend the rest of her life with. When she heard Garret's car outside the house, she was cleaning the back house.

She approached the gate and opened it to allow Garret's car to enter, but when she noticed an old man selling ice cream pass in front of her, she chased him down, and she also noticed Garret got out of the car and chased her down.

"Why did you run, Alondra?" Garret asked concerned.
"I want to eat ice cream." answered Alondra.
"That will stop because he knows you will buy." Garret said with a frown.
"Please get me a jug."
"Huh?"
"I'll put ice cream on it."
Alondra laughed when she saw that the old man laughed at what she said. He likes to put the ice cream in a pitcher so that it lasts a long time.
"There's tupperware and glasses there, why still a pitcher?" Garrett asked.
"I prefer jugs."
"Okay."
After Garret left, Alondra confronted the ice cream seller.
"Is that yummy, Uncle?" Alondra asked, as if she was drooling at the sight of the raspberry flavor and mango.
"Of course. It just looks dirty because it's not the per gallon sold in supermarkets. Other rich people like you don't buy this because they said it's dirty. I made it clean because people will eat it." said the old man.
"I'm not rich, Uncle. I'm just work hard and had a comfortable in life." Alondra said.
"Is that so. It's just the same. But I feel that your husband loves you very much." said the old man.
Alondra laughed.
"He's not my wife. We're just friends." Alondra said softly because Garret was about to leave with a large jug.
"Why? But everything starts with friendship, ma'am."
Alondra just laughed.
"Fill the jug, Uncle. I'll finish it so you can go home early. So you won't have a hard time walking around." Alondra said.
"Thanks a lot." said the old man happily.
"Give me one please just put it in the cone."
"All right."
A few minutes later the old man left but Alondra was still outside the house.

It's as if she doesn't want to go inside because she wants to feel the wind and sunlight. She's seen a lot of kids running around outside because they don't live in the exclusive subdivision and food vendors can come in at any time. Garret is not a strict person when it comes to his way of life; he prefers to socialize with people who have a low profile and a simple way of life, such as her, rather than rich people such as them.
