Chapter 51
Alondra has gone, and she can't wait for him to cave if she and Leandre talk for too long. Because she knows in her heart that his secret love for her is still alive and well. It's a good thing she texted Garret right away, while she was still inside, to let him know he was coming to get her. She didn't expect Leandre to follow her and hug her tightly.
It's a good thing they're in the dark because it's getting late. And because Garret didn't see them, she was certain he questioned her excessively.
She was relieved when Garret didn't even ask who Shania's father was because he valued her silence more, and now they'd reconnected, causing chaos in her otherwise peaceful world. She closed her eyes and leaned back. She still can't believe what she discovered about Leandre's feelings for her. It was overwhelming because she was nothing special, so why did a wealthy and attractive man love her? Alondra had no idea she had fallen asleep.
When Leandre realized Alondra was married, he became enraged and hurt. If he is not related to her, who is the man who picked her up? A lot can happen in a year, so she could have married. She had evolved. His attire and personality. As if she didn't know what she was doing, a modest woman transformed into a fierce one. But a lot has changed in Alondra for Leandre, and he will not give up until he learns the truth. He arrived at his mother's house while not feeling well. He was exhausted by the two of them's encounter with Alondra. He felt at peace only once, when he felt the warmth of her body again when he hugged her earlier. It's as if he doesn't want to leave and wants to stay with her all night. And it hurt him that Alondra didn't want to believe he was divorced from Jade. He stormed into the house and sat down on the couch. Emerald's face creased as she noticed the couch was almost broken.
"What's wrong with you? Where are you from? Why did you come back like you were hit by a big rock?" Emerald asked.
"Do you have Alondra's number? Do you two still communicate?" said Leandre.
"Not anymore. Because he changed his number and he didn't even tell me. Maybe he's angry because you lied so we felt sorry." Emerald replied in a sad voice.
"We met at my secretary's wedding. And she changed a lot." Leandre said while leaning on the couch.
"Really? What did he say? Did he say hello to me?" Emerald asked happily.
"We don't talk much. And suddenly I confessed my feelings, that's why she doesn't believe me. And also she won't believe that Jade and I are separated and she's married." Leandre answered, and suddenly his senses snapped.
"Really? He said he's married?" Emerald asked as if she was still happy with her friend's marriage but he didn't even ask if she was feeling okay.
"He didn't say but I saw a man pick him up," answered Leandre.
"That's why you seem to have died from your reaction I see. You have to move on and just accept that the world is wide and there are many more to see besides you." Emerald said.
"Damn you! I'm not joking. My feelings are true and what you said doesn't help." answered Leandre.
"What do you want me to say, brother? Why would you bring yourself close to someone who doesn't like or even love you anymore? If you loved him?"
So Leandre stood up and went up the stairs. He didn't want to hear Emerald's words anymore because it would only annoy him. He entered his room and went straight to the bed and laid down. His heart and mind are very drained even though he doesn't have a job right now.
When Alondra arrived at the house, she immediately ran inside and saw Shania in the living room and inside the crib playing while Harley was sitting on the couch. She carried her baby and hugged him tightly. Minutes passed he felt relief and it seemed like he was no longer suffocated. Meeting Leandre again gave him worries because when their paths always cross, the secret he hid will surely come out.
"Did she have to finish her milk?" Alondra asked.
"Done," Harley replied.
Alondra remained in the living room an hour later to breastfeed Shania. Harley, on the other hand, was in the kitchen and offered to cook first. She stated that she was going to rest because she was exhausted from the journey. But, in Leandre's presence, she feels even more tired, and he seems to be persistent in his feelings. Garret went into his room and fell asleep.
Alondra didn't send Harley back to the boutique; instead, she let Shania keep an eye on her while she went to the city to unwind. She desired to inhale cold air. Then she may return home from the province when she has no more appointments. She didn't say goodbye to Garret because she said Harley was the only one who would know. She'd just gotten out of the gate and was about to shut it when she heard a car pull up behind her. So she looked around and noticed the car window was open. She noticed Dianne's happy expression.
"Where are you going, Alondra?" Dianne asked.
"In the city, to breath, some fresh air," answered Alondra.
"Really? Get in. You're the one I came here for. Since we gave birth, we haven't been able to bond." Dianne said.
So Alondra immediately got into the car and Dianne started driving away.
"Where's Garret? He's the one watching over Shania?" asked Dianne.
"Harley is looking after the baby. My manager at the boutique."
"I see. How are you two and Garret doing?" Dianne asked abruptly.
"Everything is fine."
"Do you know the issue that his parents are looking for a woman for him to marry because he hasn't married yet?" Dianne asked. "It's a good thing his parents don't know that you are living with him and you have a baby together."
"He didn't say it again, but that issue is still there," Alondra said.
"Why are there parents who are too much in the way of their child's happiness? Don't they know how to wait?"
"That's how the rich are, Alondra. We can't force them if they're like that. Now I can demonstrate that not everyone who lives in the same house has a budding relationship or can develop with each other. We can call something developed, but only friendship treatment.
Didn't you feel like you loved Garret or just the father of your child during the one year you were together in the same house? "Dianne inquired.
Alondra remained silent. She can't tell Dianne she knows Shania's father; it's better she didn't ask, as Daisy did. She couldn't predict when her feelings for Leandre would fade as if they weren't already etched in her heart.
"You can't force yourself to love someone who you know is just family," answered Alondra.
Dianne smiled.
"Yeah. That's what Garret told us once we asked him you are like his sister." Dianne said.
"So you can't force it," Alondra said with a laugh.
Daisy just shook her head.
"How are Ciara and Lianne?" Dianne asked out of nowhere.
"They're fine. Ciara became my sister's classmate and even asked what we did at the club, so my sister and I cried and were even ashamed of myself. Sometimes you really hide anything from a thing or forget it forever, but it will be dug up when the time comes," Alondra said.
"Yes, but the important thing is that we got out of there," Dianne said. "That was the dark part of our lives that I forgot happened, and I just felt guilty until now because we weren't fair to you; we just let you take the responsibility that should have been ours."
"That's right; it was a long time ago, which is why we have to forget about it; we're fine now and have moved on with our lives."
"That's why we're grateful to you; you deserve to be happy, Alondra, and whoever is the father of your child has the right to know he has a child with you," Dianne explained.
Alondra fell silent for a moment. She thinks she can't say it because it's been so long and Leandre will be angry if she does. They hadn't realized they'd arrived in town, so Dianne went straight to the restaurant. Alondra was the first to exit and go inside, while Dianne was left outside to park the car. She was about to walk straight to the counter when her gaze was drawn to the other side, where it met Francheska's. She ran up to her and hugged her tightly.
"Oh my, I didn't expect that I see you now after one year, Aunt Alondra," Cheska said.
"I miss you too, sweetheart," Alondra answered and hugged Cheska tightly.
So she immediately led Francheska to the empty seats because many customers entered to pass. After all, they were hugging each other in the middle. She signaled to Dianne that she was the one to order what they would eat. And Cheska started babbling while they took a picture together to post on social media which she immediately agreed to.
"Where are you hiding, Aunt? Why did we meet again just now? Do you know that I missed you so much? You changed your phone number without even telling us." Cheska said.
"I'm sorry. I was very busy because then I continued the online class and I studied regularly until I finished and now I'm a doctor already," he said smiling.
Cheska's eyes widened.
"Really? Congratulations. I'm very proud of you." Cheska exclaims.
"Thank you. But anyway, I once saw you in a boutique with your Uncle Leandre and your mommy." Alondra said.
And Cheska was thinking about which boutique she said and she saw her face light up upon remembering what she is talking about.
"Yeah. I remember it. Why didn't you call me that time?"
"Your Uncle is with you, so I didn't call you because the conversation would be long. And I own that boutique." Alondra laughed.
"Wow. Really? So I can go back there because you are the owner?"
"Sure. You can come anytime there. I gave you a gift and a discount." Alondra replied smiling.
"I like your things there it's all worth it to buy so beautiful and branded just like you," Cheska said smiling.
"Of course. Thank you. You flattered me."
"It's true."
Dianne arrived a few minutes later, followed by a waitress with their food. She didn't let Cheska go first, and she was about to join them for dinner. It's been a year since they last met, and she's transformed into a stunning young woman. Leandre awoke unexpectedly when he saw the notification on his social media account of Cheska's picture with Alondra and Dianne, who had previously been with him at the club. So his nephew had contact with Alondra without his knowledge? He exited the room and descended the stairs. He looked around for Emerald. He couldn't find his mother because the house was silent. He noticed Emerald eating toasted bread in the kitchen.
"Where's mommy?" he asked.
"In her establishments. Since the two of them became friends with Uncle Lazaro, she could no longer stay at home, so she stayed in her place of business." Emerald replied.
Leandre's mommy used to have a business with this Coffee shop and hotels and restaurants along the city.
"Do you know where your daughter is now?" asked Leandre.
"Yes, I saw her post with your ex-lover, so why did you come out of your cave because of what you saw? Go see her for peace of mind," Emerald replied.
Leandre sighed and leaned back in his chair. Cheska then entered the kitchen, dressed in a different outfit. Perhaps it had just arrived, so she approached Emerald, kissed her on the cheek, and then hugged her. Leandre grinned. Cheska sat beside him.
"Do you no longer go to school?" Emerald asked.
"No more, and guess what, mommy, Aunt Alondra is now a doctor," Cheska smiled.
Leandre didn't realize that he was smiling too. He is happy because Alondra has also finished and fulfilled her life's dream. That's why it looks different because there is a beautiful job.
"Well done," Emerald said.
Cheska asked, "Do you remember the boutique we went to with Uncle Leandre? That was Aunt Alondra's building."
"Really? Why hadn't we seen her before? How did you know?" his sister asked.
"She said she saw us but didn't come."
Leandre smiled because he knew exactly where he was going to see Alondra. He doesn't mind whether she's married or not as long as he knows she'll be with him again.
