Chapter 50

Leandre is concerned about Alondra's reaction when she sees him. What if he irritates her? When Nicholas called, his thoughts were interrupted. And he notices that the socialites who attended Lexie's wedding were all staring at him with admiration, but he doesn't notice because he is focused on the woman who was once a part of his life. He walked over to Nicholas' table.

"All I thought you wouldn't be able to make it?" Nicholas asked, making Ninette and Alondra look at him.
Alondra simply smiled at him and returned her gaze to the front, as if she had never existed in his life. Leandre was relieved to see her again, but she didn't appear to be relieved to see him.

"Alondra is here, Leandre; why didn't you even notice her? It's as if you two have never been together before," Ninette laughed, brightening the awkward moment.

But Alondra didn't seem to hear anything and instead concentrated on the front. As a result, Nicholas motioned for him to take a seat next to Alondra. So he had no choice but to sit next to her because there was no one else available.

"Can I sit here next to you?" Leandre asked.

"Sure," Alondra replied, not even bothering to look at him.

As a result, Leandre became irritated. He will not let her crush him as if he had never done anything good before. So he won't leave later if he can't properly communicate with her. So when Leandre saw her earlier, he suddenly felt energized.

It's a good thing he insisted on going even though he wasn't feeling well. When this man is this close, Alondra's nervousness has no place. She wasn't surprised to see it again because she expected it because Lexie's boss was there.

But when he sat next to her and she smelled him. She didn't pay much attention to him because she was nervous; she knew he was annoyed with her based on his appearance earlier, so she avoided stuttering in front of him. So when the emcee announced that it was time to eat, everyone was busy sitting properly at the table. Because there was no waiter or waitress serving, Ninette and Nicholas stood up to get food from the other side.

Alondra does not want to appear stupid, so she will converse with Leandre until she returns home later. Because she feels uneasy around him because nothing is as it used to be. He has a child with her, and if he discovers that she has been hiding the baby for a long time, he may become enraged and take her baby away from her. She couldn't let what she feared happen.

"Don't you want to eat?" Leandre asked softly, making her shiver.
After all, he can't be angry and annoyed because they don't have a relationship in the first place. So why would her presence be awkward for him?
"I'm full," Alondra replied sparingly.

"Are you sure? I'll take it and you wait here," Leandre insisted.

"Yeah, I just want some drinks."

"Sure."

So Leandre got up and walked over to the table where the food was. He figured out how to impress the ladies at the reception. Leandre smiled as he approached the table with food. He doesn't care if other people think he's insane because the truth is that if he can't talk to Alondra right now, he'll go insane even faster.

He took a plate and filled it with food for them and Alondra to share. He wanted to see her reaction, or how she had changed as a person they had never met.

He returned to Alondra's seat, while Nicholas and Ninette smiled sweetly in the distance.

"What is that? Haven't you eaten in a few days? Will you finish that?" Alondra was surprised to see his plate full of food.

Leandre burst out laughing.
"We'll finish it the two of us."

"What? We can't finish that, and besides, I'm full, and I told you I only wanted drinks," Alondra said as she drank a glass of juice from her hand.

"So, what am I going to do with it? Throw it away? I'm sure Lexie will be upset, so you'll have to join me in consuming it," Leandre explained.

Alondra didn't say anything else but joined him at the table. Leandre noticed that their previous worries were rushing like water. He has a lot to ask her and a lot to tell her, so it's as if she's trying to avoid talking about what happened before. They finished their meal after a few minutes. Alondra said goodbye for now and that she needed to use the restroom. As a result, he returned the empty plate, and Nicholas approached with a wide smile.

"So, how was it? Did it feel good to see her after a year? It's like you don't notice you're at an event and then it's like you're at home when you bond with Alondra?" said Nicholas. "If you had only told me she was the only woman you wanted to love, I wish I would have found her for you. Because I'm the reason you met."

Leandre just nodded but his eyes were on Alondra to go out to the restroom.
"I thought she confronted me because I was lying to her before but it turned out to be nothing," answered Leandre.
"Don't look at her too much, she won't disappear and it's very obvious that you're into her. Don't you notice that all the girls here are looking at you? All their fantasy suddenly disappeared because of what they witnessed." said Nicholas.
"Let them think like that."
Several minutes passed but Alondra still did not come out of the restroom. Maybe she is avoiding him.
"She's with Ninette at another table, so why are you always looking at the entrance of the restroom? You're sick," said Nicholas.

Leandre just shook his head because Nicholas was teasing him again as if they were at home. He saw Alondra go back out so he immediately followed her. His back was turned so he hugged her tightly from behind.
"What's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly hugging me in a public place like this?" Alondra asked with anger in her voice.

Alondra was about to break away from his embrace but he tightened his embrace even more.
"Let me go. People are already looking at us." Alondra said.
"I'll only let you go if you want to talk to me properly," answered Leandre.
"Okay fine."
So Leandre let go of Alondra and made her face him.
"What now? Is there anything else we should talk about? We didn't have a relationship before that we can talk about now." Alondra said in an angry tone, her soft voice earlier seems to have disappeared which made Leandre's blood boil.

"Are you sure there's no relationship?"

"Yes. Exactly. Because I was just paying my debt before, isn't that enough? Is there something missing? Am I not fully paid yet?" Alondra said sternly.

Leandre's head shook. He was correct all along in that he was the only one who felt a strong attraction to this woman, but he was useless to her. It only settles the debt.

"I know for myself that there was love between us before because of what you showed me, but why can't you admit it to me now?" said Leandre. "I like you. I love you. Don't you feel that? I prepared not to put you in jail that time because of my feelings for you, and now you said that to me?"

But Alondra didn't even react to what she said she likes and loves. Just laugh it off.
"You love me? Damn those feelings of yours. Who are you fooling? It's been one year and you are married. Are you crazy?"
So the problem for her is his marriage to Jade.
"I'm not married anymore, Alondra. My divorce from Jade is already granted. We can start over. Just gave me a chance." answered Leandre.

He doesn't mind if other people stare at them as long as he can express himself. It's a good thing it's already dark outside because it's still raining. He was relieved because he had finally let go of the feelings he had been carrying for a year. And he noticed Alondra shaking her head.

"No, you'll find more beautiful and wealthy women than me; I don't deserve you," Alondra said as she abruptly walked away, leaving him alone.

He was about to pursue her when he noticed a man getting out of his car and opening the door for Alondra. Leandre frowned, or rather frowned in pain.

Is it because she is married that the two of them don't want to talk about the past? Is he running late? He can no longer accept it. He returned inside and approached the table where Nicholas sat.

"Are you all right?" Nicholas asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll just say goodbye to Lexie and go home first," Leandre replied.

It was as if all of his dreams had abruptly collapsed and the sky had fallen at his feet. He was in the car driving home to his mother's house an hour later. Alondra appears to want to cry because she is nervous and overwhelmed by what Leandre has revealed to her, but she wants to believe him but he has lied to her before.
